  1. Spore demo leaked

Just tells me there was a problem uploading. Real helpful there, EA.
  2. Crock Band

What... the... fuck? So after my drum pedal broke, I went to EA's tech support site for hardware and after registering my problem was informed that my kit was no longer under warranty. Apparently this doesn't mean much though, as today I received not one but two replacement drum pedals. So I'll ship my broken one back, as well do an exchange for a friend who wasn't quite so fortunate with his expired warranty. So woo! But all the same, what the hell just happened here? And if I didn't have that friend with a busted pedal, would EA be charging $125 to my credit card because I couldn't send back two broken pedals for the two they sent me? ...
  3. I shoot things with my Wii

Fair enough. I'd mostly be playing single player myself, but as I'm an RE fan, I'll still probably pick it up in a couple of weeks. This paycheque is going to Mario Kart, next to UC. Hopefully by then, I'll be completely dug out of debt and ready to get back into some serious gaming in time for things like Too Human...
  4. Where is everybody?

It's summer, which for me means music festival season and working full time in order to afford the trips to said festivals. Already hit up Sasquatch, next on the agenda is Sled Island (which thankfully takes place in my home town, so I only had to buy tickets) and the Calgary Folk Fest (ditto). After that is the trips to Canmore and Salmon Arm for their respective blues festivals. Good times. Also, I'll probably be picking up Mario Kart Wii tomorrow. If anyone has it and wants a go online, I'll post my friend code when I've got one.
  5. Spore demo leaked

I get errors whenever I try to upload. WTH?
  6. Mass Effect

That's because they actually factor into the endgame story in quite a cool way. Don't worry about them, they'll be revealed in time. EDIT: Also, good to know that that's all you get. I was only missing one and was kinda wondering.
  7. Can anyone get in touch with Jake or Spaff?

    Oh for fuck's sake...
  8. Limbo Of The Lost: EPIC FAIL

Couldn't watch the ending video until just now. Brilliant! A part of me now really wants to play this game, if only so that I can be crowned the King of Limbo.
  9. I shoot things with my Wii

Well, given that UC is about $20 more expensive, I still don't have it. I fell behind on my games buying when I went for 2 months without a job. Now that my debts are being paid off, I'm starting to have a little disposable income here and there. It's on my list, but in my current financial state I felt I could justify a $30 game now, but not really a $50 one. Soon I shall know how UC plays. For now, it's HotD, Ghost Squad, and Crossbow Training for me...
  10. When you reach 30...

Yeah, heard about that earlier today. Carlin was the first comedian who actually made me think. I remember getting Brain Droppings as a gift one year and reading it about 30 times. Such a loss.
  11. I shoot things with my Wii

Sorry to ressurrect this absolutely ancient thread, (especially in light of recent developments...) but I finally got around to actually buying House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return. Oh man, this is so fun. This is, of course, with the qualifier that they are straight ports of games that are almost 8 years old. HotD 2 in particular looks like the old N64 version of Resident Evil 2. That aside, it's just so fun I don't care. And the voice acting! My god! The horrible, horrible voice acting! I think I heard the exact same sample of "What... kind of person... could do this." (question mark omitted intentionally) about 6 times in 10 minutes. It's impossible to play this game without grinning like an idiot. Splatters of green blood everywhere. Ridiculously small, fast moving weak points on bosses. The fact that the game, by default, gives you game over after you've used up what would be $5 in the arcade. (I never had more than $5 to spend at a time back when these machines were around) It's all so perfect. My only gripe with this game is that the things that you can unlock will only do so when you no longer need them. Want infinite continues? Beat the game on hard. Congratulations, you now don't need them. I'm hoping that my recently unlocked longer hit counter will help me get there. Still, so many fun times. I actually kinda want to fire up Ghost Squad and Crossbow Training again now and spend my day off doing nothing but shooting things with the Zapper. That said, the Wii Zapper does feel a little awkward with the nunchuck in it. I find the cable that connects the remote to the nunchuck presses irritatingly against my right thumb. I'm seriously considering getting a Nyko Perfect Shot as they're $20 at my work and seem like they'd give a far more realistic arcade-style gun feel. That, and the ability to keep your left hand moving freely, make it a very appealing purchase for me.
  12. Damn right. He's based off of Snake Pliskin, and holy crap does it show through. Luckily, I love Escape From New York and can really appreciate that. Nappi, that actually sounds like a great deal. No sounding embarrassed over the newer TMNT movie either. Saw it in the theaters and was actually pretty impressed with how fun it was. Enjoy two of the best games the PS3 has to offer. And FIFA. It's ok, from what I've seen. If sports games are your thing, anyway. Not really mine, but there you have it.
  13. Mass Effect

I played through mostly using shotguns, myself. Found that most of the time I'd be in close enough that the range problems didn't matter and when they did I'd bust out a pistol and go all old-west on 'em. As for biotic abilities, the ones that can toss your opponents and paralyze machines were by far the most useful. Level them, use them, love them.
  14. Stop bumping old posts, you dick

Hahaha! Awesome timing. Just as I'd forgotten about the thread. Well played.
  15. I'd recommend it, if only because now I'm curious as to what you'll say when you're playing it. I think a good chunk of why the game was so good came from my investment in the characters. Raiden in particular, as I felt like one of the very few people who actually enjoyed playing as him in MGS2. Most of the backstory is explained enough, I hope, though not knowing it right away could give the entire game a very different spin. I'm interested to know what you'll think now. Also, if you're getting a PS3, get Uncharted. Just saying.
  16. At the very least, it'd be hard to bring in Snake for another go 'round. As I've alluded to, Raiden is now awesome. From the looks of it, he's done now too though. I'd say if they do make another MGS, it'd need a significantly different cast, and so the only relation would be the title. Not that Kojima hasn't done it before (Zone of the Enders 2 and GBA shared a universe with the first, but only cameos by its cast) but I can't see any kind of follow up on this storyline at any rate. Maybe another spin-off alternate universe like Ac!d, but I think Solid may be done.
  17. And done. Goddamn, that was one hell of a final cutscene. The false start to the credits didn't help, either. A couple of things were a little hard to swallow, even given Metal Gear's standard for weird story twists, but overall it was worth sitting through. Somehow I feel that by just seeing the series through I witnessed a very important part of gaming's evolution. Not necessarily in MGS4 itself, but the entire saga. At the very least, it's cool to be finishing a game and not wonder what they're going to do with the sequel.

Caved and bought the full thing. It's installing as I type. New animals, here I come!
  19. So, I'm almost at the final boss. It's 11:40, and I need to be in bed by 2:00. As such, I'm working on the assumption that the game will not be over by then and saving the fight for tomorrow night. I'll probably hear back from those of you who may have finished the game too late, but this is a good call, right? I'm not going to spend all tomorrow regretting not finishing the game tonight? As for Act 4 and what I played of 5, wow. Still like 3 the best, but the climax of Act 4 was bloody ridiculous and so cool. The BB fight from 5 was awesome too. Both 4 and 5's BBs were very reminiscent of MGS1's equivalent bosses. I really liked that. Particularly all the in-jokes in the Act 5 one. ("Your hardware has obviously improved!") Anyway, off to bed. I'll resume and then finish the fight when I get home tomorrow at 8. Cheers, all.
  20. Quote of the Moment

    Seconded. Awesome quote there.
  21. Crock Band

That's really impressive. Good job on that one, man.
  22. Me too. Holy hell Act 3 was brilliant though. From the hardcore stealth and film noir vibe of the early goings, to the balls-out action, to the (admittedly very long) amazing cutscene to top the whole thing off. That entire act is now, in my mind, the high point of the series. If I didn't have to be at work in 7 hours, I'd still be playing now. As it is, I wanted to check the thread and go to sleep, so that's what I'll do. Definitely be playing more when I get home tomorrow though. Just... damn. That is some amazing stuff I just witnessed. Also, Lee Merriweather as the voice of Old Eva? Awesome! I couldn't remember where I knew her from, so I had to imdb her name. The second I saw that she was the 60s Catwoman, I couldn't stop grinning. I wonder if Kojima wanted her specifically, or if it just turned out amazing.

Gah, so fun. Here is a sample of what I've come up with so far. I started out just dicking around to see what I could do. This one emerged from me trying to get a feel for the editor. Then I figured I should have a try at making something that I actually would enjoy playing through the full game with. So I made this: Those two were made before I knew how to make different parts of the animal fatter or thinner. (thanks, Cigol) With this new information in hand, I started out trying to make a happy face thing, but ended up just having fun with it instead: I especially liked that that one had suckers for feet. And the legs separating halfway down was cool too. At this point, a passer-by wanted to know what the hell I was doing. I showed her the editor and this is her creation: I dig the three legs on it. Thought it was some good work. Finally, I could no longer resist the urge to make a kitty. This is my attempt: A decent enough approximation, but I really wish I had access to the other 3/4 of the creature creator to do a better job. I'm playing this more than Metal Gear. What the hell is wrong with me?

Still going to get those Goodwood heads eventually though. Omega pedal + goodwood heads = drumming perfection from what I've heard. These drums definitely give me a better shot at success than anything I've used before though. Got all the way to 65% in Run To The Hills. I'd never even made it to the first chorus before.

New sets are SL, old ones are QM. I don't really know what that means, but given my experience, SL is awesome.
