  1. Yeah, I am. I've got the first two on there no problem, but it's not showing up when I update...
  2. Uncharted

I'm not actually sure which part you mean. I think Uncharted was designed really well in a way that the crazy hard parts are up to your style of play and not the game doing something ridiculous. It takes trying something you normally wouldn't to overcome it, and I appreciate that. At any rate, congrats on overcoming all of that!
  3. Dammit! It's not showing up in iTunes. To the direct download I go!
  4. World of Goo

That one was sorta tricky, but once you work out your balloon technique it's not too bad. The one I got screwed on for a long time was the second-last part of chapter one where you must build a tower of goo to a pipe up in the sky. I get that this is a throwback to their earlier game and all, but I never played that and figuring out a way to build that high without collapsing took me forever.
  5. What did you learn today?

I also learned what the Eternal September was. And that it began when I was 5 years old. What is September 1999 called? Did I join something like September 6th 1993 by those standards?
  6. True. What I meant was that I can't really see anything about the genre that appeals to me. It seems like work. Like something that you have to finish before you can go play something fun. Even the best of online multiplayer games have yet to grab me for any more than the occasional round of co-op. I don't even "get" TF2, which is supposed to be the second coming. (sorry to bring it up again, Remo) I just don't see anything I find fun in MMOs, and it saddens me to see series that I love go that route and effectively exclude me from further entries. I'm good, thanks.
  7. What did you learn today?

I learned that I suck at building goo towers...
  8. World of Goo

Well, I figured I'd try the Wii Shop thing one last time before bed. Surprise! It worked, and I'm now going to bed 2 hours later than I intended to. Whups. Great game though...
  9. So, Fable 2

*THE FOLLOWING POST TO BE READ IN A STEREOTYPICAL STONER VOICE* Man, what if we made a game where the hero makes his way to the boss over an epic 30 hour adventure, but then right before they fight, the boss has a stroke or something and the hero has to take care of him and watch him slowly die of natural causes while coming to terms with his own mortality. The real boss would be, like, the cold realization and depression that comes along with coming face to face with death. ...And then you kick a giant dragon right in the balls! PS: No stealing my ideas for Fable 3, Molyneux. You know you want to...
  10. World of Goo

I was torn as to what to get this for, that is until I saw that the Wii version is $5 cheaper. The budget-conscious student in my decided the Wii was the way to go. So I buy some Wii points, spend 1500 of them on the game, and get halfway through the download when the Wii Shop channel crashes. Now when I try to log on it says it's "down for maintenance." GRAH! Gotta wait til it's back up to get my damn game now and see what everyone is talking about...
  11. Grand Theft Auto V Announced!

Fair, but I stand by my recommendation. Play 'em, they're great fun.
  12. If it's an MMO, even a KOTOR one, I gotta say: "meh." I just don't like the genre, and it keeps on irritating me to see worlds that I'm otherwise a big fan of (Warcraft, Dawn of War) being realized in a way that I'm simply not motivated to ever experience. I love KOTOR and want more of it, but single player please. I just can't seem to see the appeal of an MMO.
  13. Grand Theft Auto V Announced!

Uh... what? What did you think GTA:VC was? What you did forget though, was Vice City Stories and Liberty City Stories. While not as good as the console games, both came during that 4 year span between SA and IV and were really still awesome, and canon to boot. If you haven't played them, I'd see if I could find a way.
  14. Why you should buy Sam & Max Wii...

Way to freak me out. I knew you meant Eggerton, but all the same, my name being Worthington, I thought you were talking about me for a moment...
  15. FUUUUUUCK!!!

Definitely. My NES is a year older than I am and still works just fine...
  16. Little BIG Planet

Yeah, it was over Resistance having a level set in the ruins of Manchester Cathedral. Sony's got a real good track record going. My question is, how do you think they're going to piss off the jews in their next big release?
  17. Dead Space

That's sorta what I was trying to say... Anyway, yeah. I really like it, but there was a lot of initial adjustment to realize that this is a really good action game pretending to be a survival horror game, not a really good survival horror game. Now that I've done this, I can begin to enjoy the beef on its own merits. twmac's point about the new guns being pointless seems to be pretty valid. For god's sake, the game gives you a trophy if you play through the whole thing with the gun you started with, which I think says something about its difficulty. I didn't see the animated comics, but now I feel that I should really check them out. I think I'll need to go do that now...
  18. BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams

If that's enough to make you flee, I'll have to join you in escaping. I thought Bioshock was a fun game, but the message was about as sublte as a day-glo painted clown screaming in german during mass. All the subtlety and nuance just didn't seem there to me, and it took countless articles espousing it's virtues for me to even understand why the hell so many people were saying it was the best thing ever. Even now I think most of that was just people reading too much into it because they really, really wanted it to be just that deep. Again, fun game. Enjoyed it immensely. Will play the sequel. But I just don't think it's as deep as people have convinced themselves.
  19. VIDEO GAMES

Not quite. It's a little more subtle than that. It's not that there's an explicit assumption, it's more that the premises you base the argument off of require that your conclusion is true in order to be proven true themselves. This is very easily done without knowing it, which is why the fallacy is so common. I hope that answers the question well enough, as the others appear to be getting sick of this thread...
  20. Dead Space

Hey, if you're psyched for it, don't let me dissuade you. I just went back and played another hour simply because I wanted to see more. Finished the first zero g segment, which was pretty cool, especially when the monsters started getting involved. There's some cultist subplot brewing as well, which is a nicer touch, although I had to go off the beaten path and spend an otherwise useful upgrade token to get some of the meat of it. It's definitely a good game. As far as games that take themselves quite seriously go, it's so far one of the better ones I've played this year. One other annoyance, while I'm at it. Why am I a jedi? I've now faced puzzles that have required me to move gigantic objects using a grapple field (ie: Force Push) and can slow down my enemies and the environment around me by using a stasis weapon. It kinda takes away from the fright of a situation when you can force throw an exploding barrel at an enemy in the middle of combat. (Yeah, there are exploding barrels. There are always exploding barrels. Even RE4 had them...) On a more positive note, those tentacle-spider-baby-things are scary little bastards. I think they can take more punishment than the standard scythe-arm and scorpion guys, too. I've also run into weird little leech things that squirm around and latch onto you to suck your health. You can blow a ton of ammo on a swarm of those things. In a nutshell, the enemies are becoming much more varied after only a little more play time. Things are looking up, jedi powers aside.
  21. VIDEO GAMES

Actually, your saying this is a statement which begs the question. The simplest way to describe question begging is arguing a conclusion based on the presupposition that it is already true. You attempt to show that saying "which begs the question" cannot be a workable phrase by introducing alternate phrases. The necessity for these occurs if "which begs the question" is not a workable phrase. You assume that your conclusion is true, (that "which begs the question" is improper wording) take a premise based off of it, (that the phrases you suggested are the only proper wording) and then arrive at your conclusion. (that other phrases than those you suggested are improper) ...just saying
  22. Grand Theft Auto IV

Wait, if I kill you in multiplayer, I get an achievement? Sweet! I'll be getting on that as soon as my 360 is in working order!
  23. Xbox 360 vs PlayStation 3: The Preference-Off!

I mostly get a PS3 version of a multiplatform game if it's cheaper or more convenient. Burnout, more convenient. The Darkness, a good $15 cheaper. Lego Batman, I hadn't turned the PS3 on in a while and figured it needed some love. Of course, just today I bought Dead Space for the PS3 because my 360 red ringed last night and I actually want to play the thing, so that could be a motivation as well. Conversely to what Remo said, if you do keep as many games as possible in the same place, if that place goes to shit you're left gameless for a while. I feel it'd be better to diversify. Especially for single-player focused games on the PS3, as the point about Live is very true.
  24. PLAYSTATION®3

I keep on thinking about Warhawk but the internet at my place is so tempermental I fear I'll get dropped from half the games I try to play. Also I so rarely enjoy competitive online games, even those held in highest regard (I'm looking at you, TF2...). I should probably try the demo out sooner or later.
  25. TGS awards: amateur division

That may be my favorite picture in a long time...
