Damn, I'd totally be in if I hadn't already bought it. That's what I get for reading the thumb too late in the day. Gotta give credit to Valve though, that's a really cool idea and a clever way to get a group into the game.

I remember at one point I exited the caves by accident and shot out through a subway tunnel. That's the best direction I can give you without going back into the game right now, which mountains of homework has prevented me from doing for about a week now. I think the subway entrance was pretty close to the Potomac, if that helps.

I'm more than 12 hours in and I haven't even been to see Free Dog yet. What the hell, man? Isn't half the point of this game to become immersed in the world and explore things? To me, a speed run is the complete antithesis of what Fallout is trying to achieve.

Oh man, I just listened. Very awesome. Especially the old podcast's theme music. I got so psyched when I heard that. Hope to hear more from the UK team now that you're back into it.

Seriously? They can do that? Random fucking griefers can get one of the game's most fantastic achievements deleted like nothing? Goddamn, this may be one of the most flawed systems of rooting out problem game content that has ever been conceived of if that's true... :(

Not sure if I'd rate it that highly, but it is definitely one of the coolest parts of the game. I really want to go give it a run now that you've brought it up...

In regards to the story, I can't help but laugh about truth in advertising when I see that 15 second spot they have where a guy sings "You already know the end." Still an amazing game, but man does that ever sum up the plot.

Interesting. In the other ending I kinda want to go back and make some different choices now to see how things pan out...

Had a nice little run tonight. Signed into a quick play game with two players who obviously had quite a bit of experience and one who was at approximately my skill level. Unfortunately the only players with mics were myself and the other rookie, but thankfully the guy playing Bill knew the commands well and kept a watchful eye over us. Given the patronly veteran look of Bill, he really played the part. Our other vet, the guy playing Louis, was a bit of a tool. It got to the point where we'd reached the end of the demo (a very enjoyable run with lots of tension) and Bill was surviving entirely on the temporary health bestowed by pain pills. He had plenty of health left when we found the safe room, but Louis was running around waiting for more zombies to spawn so that he could get the award for killing the most special zombies. While he was wasting time like this, the other three of us were waiting in the safe room while Bill slowly died. When he had less than a fifth of his health left, I went out to get Louis and hopefully end the game successfully. I said very nicely, "Dude, Bill's about to die. Get in the safe room so we can end the level." He kept right on shooting the spawning special zombies. It was at this point I saw over his shoulder that a smoker had spawned behind him. I could have easily taken it out, but I figured a lesson was in order. I watched as the smoker grabbed him and pulled him down the hall and around the corner, then followed. I shot the resulting frenzy off of him, and after I'd saved his ass, calmly said "Into the safe room. Now." We made it right as Bill was losing his last units of health, but closed the door just in time. Mission success, and Bill (very rightly) took the award for most special zombies killed. I beat Louis for second place by one. That smoker that I'd saved his point-grubbing ass from. Any game that can give you group dynamics and interaction like this is a definite must play for me. As I keep on saying, I'm not a fan of multiplay. I usually can't stand it. Something about this game though, I think it could really make me a believer.

Is there still a game going on tomorrow afternoon? (well, afternoon for me. Night for most of you I guess.) I'll probably be home shortly after 20 GMT (or 8pm, whatever) and will try logging on a couple times through the afternoon just in case. I believe the girlfriend is coming over about 6pm, but as that's 1 in the morning GMT I don't think it'd pose too much of an obstacle to the game. Hope to see/blast some of you folks tomorrow.

Yeah, workbenches allow you to build things and a lot of the seemingly useless crap that you find becomes an ingredient for said things. Not necessary for the game, but handy.

Oh, also: Shivering Isles wasn't in Oblivion PS3, it goes for about $30 on the PSN.

So you don't need to wait for the stats, I also bought Left 4 Dead but didn't try the demo until after it was already public...

Wait... what? Is the last mission different if you take the deal ending?

Just fired it up, as I had a bit of game time tonight. Wow. Despite my aversion to multiplay, I can really see myself becoming absorbed in this one. Good times all around. Those zombie rushes can really get you. Very cool game.

I don't know, honestly. Which code do you have? I know my Kratos one says on it that it expires January first. I'm not sure if that's similar across all of them or not.

More difficult, yeah. Even so, I only had to actually restart a level from the beginning once.

That's 2pm for me, and I'm in class on Wednesday, so I'd have to be out. Still in for Thursday though.
