  1. I gotta say toblix, every time I finished a race and it gave me the option to watch a player's screen, I watched yours. You do some crazy shit, good sir. Always fun to observe.
  2. Next² Generation Consoles

My PSP library: Katamari Crush Loco Roco Exit Metal Gear Ac!d, Ac!d 2, and Portable Ops Every Extend Extra Ratchet and Clank Lumines God of War Patapon Both GTAs an imported copy of Gitaroo Man My DS library: way too big to list. I like to think that I haven't missed any of the must-play titles for the PSP. The fact that after owning the thing for 4 years now I can list them this easily makes me sad. They just don't seem to care that much about it, which is odd seeing as it's actually more successful than the PS3. It's still nice to have, and now and then I'll start to favor it over the DS for a month or so, but I inevitably go back to my Lite. Most recently, for Air Traffic Chaos and Chrono Trigger. I'd consider both of those must-plays and they both came out in the last few months. The only thing I think I'd like to get for the PSP that I don't have right now is that Castlevania one. The software lineup for this system really is a disappointment. Still, it has been, if only just, worth the purchase. I'd be interested in what they'd do with the PSP2. I think at this point though, they need to do what MS did with the original XBOX. Declare it a moderately successful entry into the market, and roll out a far superior (games-wise) successor.
  3. Damn, I would be totally in, but my L4D is the PC version. Pity.

It's not really that bad. It just means that if you're on GMT and it's 9 at night for you, it's 2 in the afternoon for me...
  5. Next² Generation Consoles

I think we're due for another round of portables, but the big boys still have another few years under the TV. Nintendo may be happy to milk the DS for a while longer yet, but it's feeling more and more dated. The PSP has finally carved out a niche for itself but is crying out for a damned second analogue stick already. I think if nothing else, it's time for Sony to offer up a new portable console. Given how long the original Gameboy went on, Nintendo may not unleash one just yet, but PSP2 is due.

    Hmm... Count me intrigued...
  7. ‫‬‭‮‪‫‬‭‮Mirror's Edge

Now hold on. I've completed both GoW games and ME. I happen to think that ME is superior to Gears, but not to Gears 2. And none of that is because of anything "inherent" to either. Mirror's Edge is a brilliant experiment, and pulls off enough that it is definitely worth experiencing. It is however, fatally flawed in many respects. Much as I was certainly left with that glow that Aon mentioned, as far as tests of my patience go, no game has ever risked destruction more times. I loved Mirror's Edge, liked Gears of War, and thought Gears 2 was one of the best gaming experiences I had this year, up there with GTA4, Metal Gear, and Uncharted (Yeah, I was late to the party on that one). Aon, like I said, and as I tell people at work (run the games section at a media store. Lots of people asking for advice) Mirror's Edge is a standout game. Exactly why it will stand out is up to your level of patience. The game will frustrate the hell out of you. It's all worth it in the end, and when you start hitting perfect lines in time trials, you feel amazing. Whether or not you make it to that level however, is all about your level of perseverance and tolerance for the games flaws. If you think you're patient enough for it, get it and enjoy. On your list of purchases, I would buy it over Burnout for sure. I've played both, and like both, but Burnout is more of a diversion than a necessity. DOW2 I'm quite interested in, but RTSs are far from my forte. SF4 I'm cautiously excited for. I'm waiting for some reviews on that one first. Regardless of your decision in February, you should at least play ME sometime this year before it gets overshadowed by newer releases.

I'm in class pretty late most days. Tuesdays and Thursdays are the days I'm home around 21:00 GMT. And Tuesday is when other Thumbs like to run me over with things. I'd be in for a game most Thursdays with the Euro crew though. Acknowledging how restrictive that is, I don't expect things to pan out for my involvement. If there are enough North Americans to get a later-evening game going, I'm open Monday through Thursday evenings for the most part. I'm on Mountain Time (GMT-7) but don't really have a set sleep schedule, so as long as I'm home, I'm game.
  9. Quake Live

Well crap. It appears I've missed the window to get in. If anyone suddenly finds themself with an invite to give out, please keep me in mind.
  10. I really don't have enough experience with the party system. Do they really limit it that much? At any rate, I'm excited to see some new faces tomorrow. Really gives me something to look forward to when I get home from class.
  11. Games for Windows - ASS

Thank god. I thought that was just me. It was driving me crazy...
  12. Sure, just go to the gamertag exchange and add one of us. Should be no problems from there.
  13. That's really good to hear. I was insanely excited for this game but never ended up picking it up after seeing the reviews. I still have a gift card for somewhere kicking around, so this may be what to spend it on.
  14. I'd be in at about 21:15, as with this week.
  15. New people: Read this, say hi.

Disclaimer: Though we don't call you a fag, there is a 90% chance Wrestlevania will call you a monkey.
  16. I have it on Wii. It's $5 and the battery will never die. Great cast. Here are a few things that have occurred to me so far. First off, why the hell aren't you guys making that cartoon-world game? It sounds, to put it bluntly, fucking amazing. Different worlds are always appealing to me, and that seems like an ideal thing to play through. As mentioned earlier, Kingdom Hearts 2 did it, but that was only one world. The Bioshock setting also attracted my girlfriend to the game. As I've mentioned before, she gets motion sick with anything 3D, so when games made that jump she stopped playing. Seeing the ads for Bioshock did prompt her to watch me play through a good chunk of the game just to take in the artwork though. It's still one of the only modern games she cares about at all. Chris, that's my favorite part of MGS3 as well, and instantly what came to mind as soon as you guys got on that subject. If you want to see someone who tried that shit on film and actually got away with it, Godard's 1967 movie Weekend has a 10+ minute tracking shot of a traffic jam solely to fuck with the viewer. This makes it one of my favorite movies. Finally, back to the dancing scenery and such of that proposed cartoon world, one of the most stand-out parts of New Super Mario Bros on the DS for me was when I noticed that the powerups, baddies, and even certain platforms will dance along with the background music. I can now hear the music from the first world in my head and imagine goombas hopping into the air with the beat. I kinda want to play it again. Man, I need to replay the Monkey Island series. My last playthrough was in 2004. I think I've actually forgotten a bunch of the puzzles by now. Conditions could hardly be more ideal.
  17. New people: Read this, say hi.

Welcome, dude. I wish I had a gaming partner as well. Sadly, (hey, now I'm doing it) she gets dizzy whenever things jump to 3D. Sega Genesis emulation on the Wii is good, all else, not so much. At least we get some marathon Streets of Rage sessions in. Don't feel bad about the Back to the Future thing. I'd say most of us are in a perpetual state of catch-up. For a gaming forum, I get the impression that our median age is really high, and as such we don't seem to have as much time.
  18. Sorry, another piracy/DRm article...

I'm thinking all the huge updates to Team Fortress 2 is what they're referring to. And maybe The Lost Coast for HL2 a few years back. Mostly TF2 though.
  19. So I'm off to Vancouver in may...

Goes through Frank and Vermillion, and eventually passes things like Kootenay as well. Don't recall those towns you mentioned exactly, but it's possible.
  20. So I'm off to Vancouver in may...

I live in Calgary. I don't recommend spending much time here, honestly. Every time I head BC-ward, there's a choice I have to make about route. I say choice, but really there is none. It takes a couple of hours longer, but go through the Crowsnest Pass. It's bloody beautiful man, you won't regret it.
  21. Grand Thumb Auto 9: Thumb Adventures

Agreed. The races were quite intense. Coming in second by 0.4 seconds was rather traumatizing though...
  22. Damn right. Not only do we get new people, we get quality old ones back as well!
  23. Free Range FTW!

My girlfriend stopped me from killing a spider in the bathroom. She named it Terry. It still lives here...
  24. Free Range FTW!

They may or may not have this in the UK, but in North America, what you describe is called certified organic. There is a distinction between that and regular organic, which is a label that can pretty much be slapped on anything. A lot of food retailers prey on this, marketing everything they can as organic and fooling people who don't know the difference. Incidentally, that article was the final push for me when I decided to switch my major to Philosophy 3 years ago.

HAHAHAHAHAHA Made my night. Well done sir.
