  1. GTAIV: The Lost and the Damned

Finished 15% of it, according to the in-game stats. Really enjoying myself, but not caring as much about the characters yet. The missions are very cool, and have me wishing that they'd gone for co-op campaign as an option. You can check on your allies health at any time, and I haven't played a mission yet where it wasn't at least two people working together. Of course, the second player would constantly be changing which character they inhabit, but it would still be really cool. The bike races are fun (finished 3 of the 12) but unfortunately the baseball bat bashing seems underpowered. I can club a guy 4 or 5 times and he'll barely flinch. If I'm smacking a guy with a bat while he's trying to drive, I'd hope that I'm a bit more irritating than a dragonfly in his face. New weapons I currently have 2 of, a fully automatic pistol and a very nice sawed off shotgun. If these were in GTAIV before, I didn't notice them. Entire game has taken a visual overhaul as well. Everything is much dirtier looking and feeling and I'm on the fence about how much I like it. It really works for the menus and the HUD, but the film grain over the gameplay itself is irritating. I haven't checked to see if I can turn it off or not yet, but I'm about to. What's up with this trend of graining up games lately? It works for some (L4D) but they're the minority. Can't wait for this particular fad to be over. So yeah, quite enjoying myself, and as I have the days to myself (well, the next 2 anyway) this week, I'd be up for a Road Rash style race or two with any thumb willing. Also really looking forward to what this adds to Grand Thumb Auto, as I'm expecting most of the regulars will be adding these features real soon. I know Wrestlevania and JamesM already have, at any rate.
  2. I'm also inclined to recommend Banjo Kazooie and The Lost and the Damned. Been playing the hell out of BK and have been spending most of today (Grand Thumb Auto time excluded) playing TLATD. Both are of high quality. I'm intending to pick up Flower sometime this week and pump some quality time into it as well, but we'll have to see. As I said recently, I've been getting my multiplat games on PS3 as well lately, but these two are bringing me back to the 360 reliably for some game time.
  3. Resident Evil 4 Wii

Soon as you hop on GTAIV again (you're not giving that up too, are you?) I'm going to start hounding you about finishing RE4. You're so close man, don't give in.
  4. Your hometown has a website. Is it horrible?

My place of birth? Actually too small to have a webpage. Here's the nearest town, and where we had to go to find a grocery store: Cobourg, Ontario; a citizen-centered, performance oriented municipality (emphasis theirs.) Click through to the "Town Services" bit to witness the horror. Here's where I live now: Calgary, Alberta. Come for the pictures of snow, stay for the Economy Watch!
  5. LittleBigThumb

I'll have you know my field of study makes me nigh unemployable!
  6. LittleBigThumb

Hey now, I wasn't even home yet when you toblix posted that you'd wrapped up. Lay off the guilt trip, man.
  7. (IGN.com)

I wonder if they know about this thread and they're just pandering now...
  8. You missed Imagine Rock Star, Imagine Rock Star 2, Imagine Wedding Designer, Imagine Master Chef, etc etc etc. Yeah, I have to stock that shelf at work...
  9. Aguilera

I was introduced to Ladytron by my girlfriend last year. Saw them perform at a local bar early in the fall as well. I really dig their stuff. I don't have a problem with their writing for Aguilera, but I'm still not going to be listening to her new album.
  10. Your internet persona

I'm another one of those people who's far too verbose in reality. I actually keep closer tabs on it when I'm online, so I guess the main change is that I babble less. Otherwise, I try to present myself as I am. Much of my joking around with friends in real life involves mock insults and pretending to be far more offended and/or angry than you actually are, and I try to avoid that online as it's much harder to not be taken seriously through text. Also, some people on the internet really are that touchy. If I ever slip up, a good rule of thumb is that the more forcefully I say I'm offended, the more likely it is to be a joke. I'm often told that my writing sounds like that of a robot. That is, far too formal and such. In real life I'm accused of using impressive sounding words just to look smarter than those around me. In reality, both are the result of being the eldest child of two University professors and never having had a reason to dumb myself down. I figure that by this point in life, I shouldn't have to. I'll gladly explain a word to someone, and I certainly don't consider it a deficiency to have a less extensive vocabulary, (hell, I'm learning new words all the time as well) but I refuse to simplify my speech or writing. As such, in both real life and online, I fear I'm likely to come off as a pretentious tit. I do apologize for that. Any opinion I express here you can honestly associate with me. I only visit one forum with any regularity, so I may as well be truthful while I'm on it.
  11. Can I sleep on your sofa?

I run that risk every time I go outside with my girlfriend anyway. She has a similar habit. As for trust, I'm pretty leery of the internet usually, but Thumbs, especially the old guard (pre-podcast members in good standing) have largely proven themselves to be awesome. There's a reason I've been here regularly for more than 4 years now.
  12. I got the gist. Sounds like some spectacular "PEW PEW PEW!" shit going down out there. I sort of feel like I'm missing out. On the other hand, a large part of me is sort of relieved there's at least one kind of geek jargon I don't understand.
  13. F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

Downloaded the demo, but I can't seem to make the sound work in it. A pity, since the visuals are bloody gorgeous. Oh well. Not exactly doing a great job of selling the game when I can't hear it...
  14. If it helps, I was against it when it was in the rumours as well. Same reason I'm against WoW. The current games, in a formula I enjoy, have really got me invested in the series and mythology. Now I'll never see what comes next because they've decided they like subscription fees. Sigh.
  15. Can I sleep on your sofa?

I doubt you'll be driving through Canada, but there would be a Calgary couch available to you were I not soon going to be in the midst of a move.
  16. Burnout Paradise

Yeah, similar to GT5: Prologue, for $40 you can download the full game from PSN and never have to worry about stupid disks again. It's very nice.
  17. Buying or building a PC

I don't really mind Vista, but for the fact that my subspooler app doesn't work at all, making it impossible for me for me to install any printer of any kind. Awesome!
  18. Burnout Paradise

I have the downloadable version for PS3 as well. Love it. Though I haven't played since the latest patch. I hear you can actually restart a race now, which was driving me fucking batty in the past. True?
  19. (IGN.com)

"This game watches you sleep!" - IGN.com "This game ran over my dog, and didn't even leave a note!" - IGN.com "This game popped out of my console and literally shat on every other game I owned, without having to pause!" - IGN.com
  20. Tag: The Power of Paint

    Downloading. Looks really cool.
  21. Yes, yes it was. It was actually mildly horrifying watching bullet after bullet whiz past you as you zig-zagged towards me, then seeing a fully zoomed in view of your face a split second before the results from the round went up. It was just like that stereotypical scene in a PG-13 horror movie or TV show when someone is getting killed horribly but the camera cuts away at the very last second to keep the rating lower. I felt like I'd just been offed before a commercial break.
  22. Holy crap, that makes almost 2 hours of thumbs this week. As I can go through about 45 minutes in an average day, that's 3 days of thumbs! Hooray for you!
  23. I played female paragon. From what I hear, the female voice acting was significantly higher quality than the male, but I doubt it's enough to completely change your outlook on the character. Unless you're particularly fickle, I guess. For the record, I also got very involved with Mass Effect.
  24. Left 4 Dead VS

I have it, but rarely play it. I'd be up for the occasional game with a few thumbs.
  25. (IGN.com)

"This game [citation needed]!" - IGN.com "This game killed my father!" - IGN.com "This game is actually happening!" - IGN.com "This game will systematically hunt down everything you have ever loved, and then come for you!" - IGN.com "This box will give you a papercut!" -IGN.com "So hardcore, even looking at the logo gave my grandmother a stroke!" - IGN.com How am I doing? n0wak, I can't believe I forgot about the Ikaruga box. Have it myself, and I love that quote. Especially that not just "Frothing demand" is in a larger typeface, but for some reason "increases" is as well.
