  1. The idea of a "parallel rapist" is simultaneously terrifying and confusing. Well done, I guess?
  2. Serial, as in "more than once." Don't try to kid us, man.
  3. Well, I kinda got in on the ground floor when the site was fairly new, so I didn't have so much of an issue. I got most of my "massive wanker" stuff out of my system on the mixnmojo and lucasfans boards a couple of years previous to that under a different name. I'd rather not tell that moniker, as I no longer stand by most of the stuff I said when I was 13. If it helps, I didn't assume anything about your age until you said "born in the 90s" which makes me assume you're old enough and intelligent enough to not be a complete asshat. Far as I can tell, you're being accepted fairly well and the few comments directed your way are merely friendly hazing. Worry not, and keep plugging away at it. I love the Dig. It's so different from anything else Lucasarts was putting out at the time, playing it completely straight and telling an interesting story in the process. Don't get me wrong, Lucas did more for humour in games in the 90s than most other studios combined, but it was so refreshing and compelling to have them present a polished science fiction drama in the same style as they'd been presenting their comedies. The only other real drama I can think of was LOOM, which still had occasional moments of pure comic relief. The Dig just kept you going, and the situation around Brink is still interesting to me. Now I really can't wait to replay that game.
  4. For me, and to help justify my purchases to OssK, the only games of those that I actually owned were the Dig and Armed & Dangerous. The other ones that I said I was going to buy were all things that I downloaded in high school when they were impossible to find in stores. Except Starfighter, which I downloaded because I didn't have a job and I didn't feel bad about piracy back in the 10th grade. I have played them, yes, but I don't actually own them, and I would like to. (And SSD, I was born in '87. Where do you draw the line on getting freaked out?)
  5. Goddamn. Buying Armed & Dangerous, both Indys, LOOM, Starfighter, and the Dig. Like, as soon as I get home from work.
  6. La Celle Splintereux: Conviçion

Hahahahaha! Oh god, stop. I declare toblix the winner of this thread. :yep:
  7. Movie/TV recommendations

I have Machine Girl, but did not see Tokyo Gore Police. I now need to. Thanks for that.
  8. If there's a match I can make, I'll buy it. There will likely be a match I can make, so I'll likely buy it. Hell, I love Worms, so I'll likely buy it anyway...
  9. Go throwback to horrible action movie sequel! Anyway, I'm in for Tuesday at the usual 2100GMT. Who's playing this week?
  10. Hey, I ain't leaving Grand Thumb Auto anytime soon. With my theater job wanting me to work every Tuesday night for the next two months, it means I'll be home every Tuesday afternoon. This also means that I'm in for all games except August 4th, when I'll be out of town with the girl celebrating our anniversary. Possibly the 18th as well. I may be camping in BC that week. Digression aside, no abandoning the XBL games for me.
  11. I had someone join me just after the car part while I was playing your level. They rage-quit while we were trying to get up those slopes at the end, but it seemed to work out ok for the most part.
  12. I got it when it was cheap a few months back, but haven't played it that much. I uninstalled it recently, as it's something like 12 goddamn gigs, but could always reinstall sometime.
  13. November? Wha? Also, on our end, everyone but Wrestle and myself dropped at once, then James came back into the group. We played one last round of Hangman's NOOSE and called it a night.
  14. If this is proper Armageddon, I'm totally in. Played the shit out of that game, and actually played a decent amount of the original XBLA release as well, but haven't touched it for a long time. Not to say I'm actually any good or anything, but I'm definitely excited about the prospect of a Thumb Worms XBLA session or two. Should be worth the 800MSP anyway.
  15. Tales of Monkey Island

I got mine in some Adventure Collection thingy from LA's website around 2000. Big pack with MI Madness, The Dig, Full Throttle, and for some reason Dark Forces. I think that whole bundle cost me $20 back then.
  16. Grand Thumb Fortress!

I'd be happy to have a few games with you, with the provisionary warning that I completely suck. Also the time zones may be a pain in the ass. Of course, my new job has me working evenings, which is when you European folk are asleep, so less of an issue.
  17. Tales of Monkey Island

I have about half of the original LA adventures, the others I downloaded in high school and played back then. I have the Monkey Island Madness CDROM myself, which has MI1, MI2, and a demo for COMI on it. It's currently going for about $70 on Ebay Canada, so I'd say fuck it, just download.
  18. Life

Yeah, I started to respond 3 times before giving up because I don't think anything I can say wouldn't sound completely trite. That's horrible, man. The fact that all the news is about Jackson right now just emphasizes how soft my side of the world is, I guess.
  19. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Good on you for Blonde Redhead. Love those guys. At Zomboid's recommendation, I've been listening to Wavves and I think I really like them. The trick is in listening to the music while trying to ignore their painfully stupid song titles. Also just picked up the newest albums from Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr. Haven't had a chance to listen to Dinosaur Jr yet, but the new SY is great. Sounds quite a bit like Rather Ripped, if you're looking for a point of reference.
  20. YAAAAAY! ...Seriously. A 10 minute cast is just a cruel tease. I think I'd actually rather you just say "sorry" and skip a week than put out a 10 minute episode. This makes everything better though. I shall listen on my way to work in (ugh) 6 hours.
  21. Tales of Monkey Island

And just finished my playthrough of MI1. Took about 2 hours over a couple of nights. Scarily, I've now played that game so much that I think it's actually in my muscle memory. I haven't played the game since about 2005, so the puzzles were fresh again to me. Thing is, I was solving them without trying. I would go somewhere, do a thing, and then the puzzle would be solved and I'd think "Oh yeah! That was that puzzle!" Kind of a surreal experience to go through an entire game doing everything right but not knowing why you're doing something until after. Oh well, on to MI2, which I've beaten about half as many times and hopefully will not be able to do on auto-pilot.
  22. Yeah, I paid a bunch of money for a bluetooth headset I have yet to use. It's all Metal Gear branded and stuff. I really need to get in on some PS3 multiplay sometime.
  23. OK, finished. That section at the end made me drop you a star, as by the time I got through it I was convinced that you personally hated each and every person who plays your level. Up to that point it was a 5 star affair though, so you get 4 stars and a heart from me. That bit with all the crazy flaming platforms was pretty ace though. That was what convinced me you were an evil genius. I always felt like I was about to die, but never did. That's about the ideal. Well done, sir. Well done indeed.
  24. I swear to god I'm going to finish this level. I keep on getting killed by those damn glass blocks. First time the level frustrated me. Up to this point, I've grokked your style and really enjoyed the level, but trying to get up this hill right at the end of the level is just frustrating. That sliding block puzzle was fantastic though. Just as I realized that everything had a specific place, I noticed the really brilliantly hidden-in-plain-sight clue to solve it. Well done. You're really inspiring me to do some level work myself. Maybe finally go back and make that level I drew up plans for for the LBP contest back in the day but never actually built. In short, you are a motherfucking evil genius, 'blix, but this one segment at the end may be a bit too frustrating, even with infinite continues.
