The All New XBox Gamertag Exchange Thread!
miffy495 replied to ThunderPeel2001's topic in Multiplayer Networking
Sorry, I always forget to add people. I'll probably forget this time too. I'd be more than happy to accept a friend request from you though. My tag is the same as my username here. -
Quick update on the mouth situation. Aesthetically, I'm completely better. I look like myself and everything is cool. Internally, I still have one very loose tooth and it's looking more and more likely that I'll need a root canal. It's in pretty constant pain right now, throbbing continuously, and gets worse with any kind of temperature change. Other than that, life is going pretty good. The film festival is coming in two weeks (holy shit, two weeks. I didn't realize that until I typed it.) and school has just kicked off, meaning my time is now being filled pretty much completely. Very little time for games, but I'm enjoying myself anyway.

Haha. I just picked up the first volume of Showcase: Green Lantern, which is a compilation of stuff from 1959-1962. Awesome stuff. If anyone wants to read some old cheesy superhero comics, the Green Lantern, Flash, and Batman volumes are very recommended by me.

I felt the same way about DVD, but once I got a remote for my PS3's blu ray player, it became moot. Especially if you have it set to boot automatically if there's a disc in the drive. (I don't, but I'll do that for a week or so at a time if the girlfriend is watching a series or something s she doesn't have to mess around with it.)

Well, there are two packages with instruments. The deluxe one has all the Beatles-y instruments, and the value one has RB1 instruments packed in. You can also buy it as just the disc.

If I recall, that's actually the last level in the game before the final boss. You're so close! Do it!

Idle Thumbs PAX 09: Ron Gilbert !!

Inazuma Eleven is a Japan-only RPG about a soccer player. It's actually the closest thing to what you described that I'm aware of existing. -
Beat it last night, with all Riddler challenges complete. Going to probably be spending a bunch of time doing challenge rooms now, as the two that I've tried have been very fun. Beating up the thugs right before the boss fight was great, and actually allowed me to get a 60 hit combo, which was not something I expected in the least. Kickass brawl that was executed perfectly. On that note though, what the hell was up with the final boss? If you've faced him, you know, so I won't go into spoilerific details. Seriously. THAT was the boss? After everything else up to that point being so damn good (I even enjoyed the Killer Croc bits that people seem to like bitching about) I thought they'd at least do something mildly interesting for the last fight in the game. Nope. Guess not. Gah. I may start a new game on the next difficulty level sometime soon, just because I really did enjoy it a lot. Still, shame about the boss.

Henry Hatsworth definitely had me banging my head against a wall over and over from about halfway through the third world til the end of the game. Goddamn that game ramps up.

I've been HD since about September '05. Got a 28-inch 1920x1200 LCD monitor which had component inputs. I then got a 360 the next summer and have never run it on anything else. Looks great with the PS3 through HDMI too. The only issue is finding a place for the Wii sensor bar, but I can work it out whenever I want to play.

I got Freespace 2 and Giants. I pirated Giants back in the day when I was in junior high and had no income. I figured how much I'd played it back then warranted a purchase if only to help clear my conscience. Freespace 2 I borrowed from a friend and played the shit out of, so I decided that buying it so I could go back and try again would be fun. Need to find my old Logitech joystick now though. I loved that thing, and it was wonderful for flight games. It's still around somewhere, so the time to bust it out is now.

The footage was from the Japanese version. I believe the Japanese version of NMH 1 looked like that too. I'm sure what we play will have all the bloody goodness. I love the look of those 2d job segments. Getting very psyched.

Ahahahaha! That's my friend's roommate. He works at a comic book store here in Calgary. Not a bad guy, though definitely plays into every damn dork stereotype out there. Sometimes I play D&D with him.

Damn, you've very right. Never mind. I will now shut up and walk away. I guess I don't like Asimov much at all then.

Idle Thumbs 41: Space Boss: The Lord of Space
miffy495 replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Man, I read all of the Sherlock Holmes stories in one summer out of a "complete Arthur Conan Doyle" book I found in my dad's office when I was 11. Those were so good. Never read them as an adult though. I should really do that. -
Grand Thumb Auto XXVIV: Part One of a Trilogy

Oh yeah, I meant to ask. I know I got a few ice cream trucks with that grenade, but how many exactly? Anybody know? -
My dad had a Commodore 64 in his home office. I would sneak in towards the end of his work day and hang out with him while loading up some edutainment games from a stack of 5.5'' disks that were next to the machine. I have very vivid memories of Snoopy and the Red Baron Spelling for some reason. After that, he upgraded to a 286 and I spent many an hour playing the hell out of Hugo's House of Horrors and that other one in the jungle. Thus began my lifelong love of adventure games.

I never really enjoyed any of Asimov's non-robot books with one exception. Rendevous With Rama is incredible. I recommend it even if you're not an Asimov fan.

Man, did Ginger just take over Dan's account?

My dental is insured by me. The government here covers emergency care, as well as checkups and the like, but dental is considered outside their realm of responsibility. Shouldn't end up costing me too much though. Months of hassle or not, I would have reported the incident to the police were it not for the factor of the nice guy running in to help me out. As he laid out my aggressor fairly conclusively, I didn't want to get this guy in any kind of trouble for helping a guy he'd never met before. Otherwise, I totally agree. The police can't do much if you don't let them know what the hell is going on.

Bah, I'm not telling you anything about what happens in them. I knew there were several and was still completely floored by what I saw. Also, note that saying there is a third is different from saying there are three. Hell, I still haven't finished the game myself. I dunno what the score is. Think on it.

Glad to hear you're getting shit together again Thunderpeel. Ups and downs all around for me lately. Three weeks ago I learned that one of my professors had nominated me for a scholarship. I got $2700 that I didn't apply for, and the knowledge that a (anonymous) prof thought I'm fucking awesome. Was very proud of myself over that. Then a week ago I gave my two weeks notice at my hated HMV job, as I'm now a projectionist and have both my schooling and the impending Calgary International Film Festival to think about. Very happy about leaving that place. Then I got news that the theater that I left a year and a half ago because the owners were being stubborn jackasses and trying to intimidate people had tried to intimidate the CIFF board and pressure them for more money. They are now no longer a part of the Festival, and will likely never be again. Serves them right, and I got a bit of a laugh at their expense. Seriously, I know from having worked there that the Fest makes them enough money in those two weeks to run the theater for a year. Good luck now, jerks. I also bought a trumpet for $6. It's a good trumpet too, for a beginner. So yeah, all things seem to be running smoothly. As I'm walking home last night from work then, I have the Thumbcast playing on my ipod. I've been going through the archives and was listening to episode 19 I think. Anyway, I don't hear these two chav assholes yelling things at me from the doorway of a bar that's about a block away from my theater. I'll also mention now that I had just finished the evening shift, so this was about 11:45pm. They were pretty damn drunk, and apparently took exception to the fact that I was wearing green socks. I ignored them and kept walking. Next thing I know, I'm on the receiving end of a sucker punch to the mouth. They did not like being ignored. Once I realized these guys were trying to beat my ass in, I was able to react. I realized that if I hurt a couple of drunk guys, it would be my word against theirs, so I decided to play the defensive. The more drunk of the two kept trying to kick me and missing, so I only really had the punching guy to worry about. I managed to grab his wrist about every 9 out of 10 punches he threw and just twist him off to the side. He didn't get the hint that I didn't want to fight, and had successfully landed a couple of glancing blows. Nothing to worry about though. Some dude across the street noticed all this, and came running to help me out. He completely blindsided the guy trying to punch me, knocking him into a wall. The guy was down for about 5 minutes. My helpful new friend wanted to keep going at him, but I calmed him down so that nobody got seriously hurt. The kicking guy looked worried, so I yelled at him to just help his damn friend and get the fuck away. He did, and when I saw the punching guy was able to stand I felt a whole lot better, knowing that the authorities would likely not need to be involved. I thanked the guy who'd run after me, and noticed while shaking his hand that I was covered in blood. Apparently that initial sucker punch had done more damage than I'd realized at the time. His girlfriend, who had just arrived on the scene, offered me a ride to the hospital. He said to her that he was pretty drunk and didn't feel like he should drive, and I applauded his intelligence and walked home. I soon ended up at a 24 hour drug store on the way to buy some antiseptic, bandages, and peroxide. I felt like I'd just fallen off of my bike, and I figured that if that were the case I wouldn't have bothered with a hospital, so why should I now that the culprit was a fist rather than the pavement? Got home, cleaned myself off (the blood was all from my cut-up lips. My teeth had been jammed into them pretty good) and went to bed. Waking up this morning, I noticed that I had two loose teeth where there were no loose teeth before. Not having to be at work until 5:00, I decided to see if I could get a quick appointment with my dentist. Got in about 2 hours after I called and had some xrays and such taken. One of my teeth had the nerve sprained, so I can't eat anything more substantial than mush until the sprain has healed. The other one is ok, according to the x-ray, but noticeably loose and does not respond to temperature changes. This led my dentist to tell me that it was either in shock or the nerve was dying. I'll go back on Tuesday (during Grand Thumb Auto. Grrrr...) to have some tests run on it again. If I can feel temperature change then, it's ok. If not, the nerve will probably have died and I'll need a root canal. Also, apparently when you put hydrogen peroxide on a cut on your lip, it causes it to look a lot like a cold sore. My dentist now thinks I have herpes. I switched to just using polysporin and now it just looks like a regular cut, but too late I guess. After the dentist, I went shopping for back-to-school stuff with my girlfriend. Even though she's in her second year at uni, she still loves to make sure she has an amazing outfit to wear on the first day. I don't share that compulsion, but I'm happy to oblige her. Pretty fun afternoon actually. The moral: Sometimes life gives you a completely random $2700, sometimes life gives you a root canal. Sometimes these things can occur within a month of each other. I love my girlfriend, I love my job, and I love my schoolwork. I guess if the universe wants to send some drunk guy to punch my tooth out, it's earned that right.

I enjoyed that bit where I was attempting to run over Patters and some other guy but hit some piece of world geometry right before them and ended up doing a front flip over both of them. This was added to greatly by the rocket that detonated under me while I did the flip. Probably the most awesome thing I pulled off today.
