  1. GTA: The Ballad of Gay Tony

This would be why I will be unable to join in discussion until my new hard drive arrives. Unfortunate, given my "frothing demand for this game." (ign.com)
  2. Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story

I really enjoyed them too. That's why the fact that he had such a limited action set by the end of the game was so disappointing. Feels like they good have done so much more than "he's heavy, punches things, and sometimes breathes fire." Oh well. The spiky ball thing was cool, but you get it so soon before the end it feels almost inconsequential. The game needed more of that.
  3. If you're Nintendo's bitch...

Hey, my list is embarrassingly similar. I'm only 40 points away from Platinum status for 2010 too, and could easily hit it by doing my post-completion surveys on some stuff. As for whether or not I hit his chocolate bar, here's the thing: I suck at Punch Out. I can beat the "training" bit, but get my ass kicked on the "sparring." Asking me to do something specific in Punch Out is like asking a one legged-dog to do tricks on a unicycle. Shammack, I have the Zelda posters. The Twilight Princess one is pretty meh, but the evolution of link and Phantom Hourglass ones are badass. Really glossy and well-made, too. I also got the Game and Watch collection back before it was out of stock, which was the only thing I was every really jealous of the Japanese Club Nintendo for, so I'm happy with what we have offered to us.
  4. Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story

Yeah, the only art problem I had is that when Bowser inhales something and it zooms in to his belly, it just zooms the same resolution image of Bowser, so by the time the transition happens it gets ridiculously pixelated. Oh well.
  5. Happy Birthday!

    Happy birthday, video games!
  6. Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story

Still playing 'blix? Turns out I was further from the end than I thought. I ended up beating the game on Wednesday, and am very satisfied with it. A little disappointing that so much of the game is Bowser-centric rather than the Bros, not so much from a story standpoint but because Bowser only has 4 actions that he can use, rather than the plentiful bro actions that Mario and Luigi have had in the previous two games. Made if feel a bit shallower, unfortunately. Even though it took around 20 hours for me to beat it, it kind of feels like a companion piece to the series for me. Still, really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to whatever Alphadream does with the series next. You?
  7. PCs and Consoles and Clouds... Oh My!

Or you could just buy Torchlight. Seriously, I barely knew it existed before last week and now I'm playing compulsively. Incredibly good. As for pre-2002 PC games, I would say the original Freedom Force is one of my favorite games ever. It's $5 on Steam. You have no excuse if you haven't played it. The original Max Payne is similarly cheap and awesome. Unfortunately, pre-2002 also means age 13 and younger for me, so not having a job or any kind of money at that age limited my experience. Still, give those two a go and I doubt you'll regret it. ...also, it can't hurt to have a look at the engine a game runs on. If it's based on Quake 3, you'll have games up to 2004-ish that use that engine and should be scalable back down to 1999-equivalent hardware. EDIT: Whups, Freedom Force came out in early 2003. Still, you should be able to run it... EDIT Part 2: The Re-editing: on looking over your earlier posts, I see you're already going for it. I'll just be on my way then.
  8. Left 4 Thumbs

On a related note, if I'm going to be playing more of this game, I should really get my damn microphone working. I kept trying it out throughout the match, but to no avail.
  9. Left 4 Thumbs

Thanks for the invite this evening Dan, and Scratch, nice to meet you. Bad as I am at the game, I do love me some versus when I get the chance.
  10. Grand Theft Auto V Announced!

Looks like some of the backwoods stuff between Los Santos and San Fierro to me. Near the base of Mount Chilliad maybe? ...yeah, I've spent over a hundred hours in San Andreas. I still think that was the best of them.
  11. Creepy statues in games

Oh yeah. While on the subject, the Armos were statues in Zelda that sprung to life when you got into a certain proximity. Then you shot them in the eye with an arrow and all was right with the world. Took me forever to figure out back in the day, and I freaking hated those things.
  12. Epic Disney on GameInformer

Man, I gotta play Rayman 2 again. I think it's on PSN but not Virtual Console. I had the N64 version back in the day, so I'm leery of trying the Playstation one. Anyone know how they compare?
  13. Favorite Game, Best Game, Desert Island Game

All great games. I don't feel quite the same way as you about SSBB, but that may be that I played the shit out of Melee with my friends in High School and as Brawl came out when we were all in Uni, we didn't have as much time for late nights sitting up playing the game. For a month or so we did, but then moved on to other things. Board games, mostly. Zero Mission I love to death, and I'm honestly a little ashamed I didn't think of the Metroid franchise for best game ever. I still stand by my choice, but I could definitely be persuaded with not a whole lot of effort. F Zero GX is bloody rad, but far too frustrating for me to want it on the desert island. Just not something I'd be good at dealing with. I'd be so frustrated all the time. Still, if you're looking for a huge rush, playing that game is a pretty quick way to get it.
  14. I was hoping the podblast music at the start of the Max Schaefer thing was a sign of this! Chris' calling it Episode 49 at the beginning made me wonder if there would be another update this week or not. Yay for an unexpected drawn-out farewell! Perhaps a 'blast next week as well, just to pad out your catalogue a bit further before the end? Nah, too much to hope for. Still, looking forward to giving this one a listen.
  15. Creepy statues in games

    This creeps everybody out, right?
  16. Torchlight?

Should I have put a "/sarcasm" in there? That said, it's definitely the kind of frustration that I was relieved to put behind me when I mostly switched over to consoles. I realize it's unavoidable given the crazy number of permutations of technology that one can have in the PC gaming world, but it still sucks to be caught on the wrong side of it. I'm just glad this isn't a gamebreaker like Nick's game-ending bug in Empire. Since switching back over to mostly PC gaming of late (in no small part due to the Thumbs' enthusiasm revealing to me how much I missed the good ol' days of 2004 when I was constantly tinkering with my PC) I've been astonishingly bug free. This is the first time it's bitten me in the ass and it brings back some painful memories of the darker side of PC games. Anyway, still good. That Sword of Adam thing sounds amazing. Any idea if it is a scripted drop? Will anyone be able to find it, or is it randomized and you were simply incredibly lucky?
  17. Left 4 Thumbs

Working tonight, but if someone wants to have a go on Friday I may be up for it. What's the voice chat situation? I can't seem to get my microphone to work lately. Will I be auspiciously silent compared to the rest of you lot?
  18. Torchlight?

Hmmm... A quick look at the Runic forums tells me that a bunch of people are having the same problem as me with the game loading a "failed game creation" message on first launch attempt and then launching in a windowed 640x480 mode. They say to turn off Anti-Aliasing, but that's doing dick all for me. At least there are mod posts saying they're working on it, and it's not preventing me from playing the game, but it is certainly a pain in the ass. Oh well. Serves me right for playing a PC game I guess.
  19. Torchlight?

On a completely unrelated note, I think I actually understand what the hell this statement means now. Amazing how playing the game helped with that.
  20. Tales of Monkey Island

Oh, EXCELLENT! I'm coming off of two weeks of academic hell here, so that will be a fantastic way to relax after my shifts on the weekend. Good timing, Telltale. Very good indeed.
  21. Torchlight?

Fired up a game on Normal. My god, that setting was way too low. Normal is a breeze. If you're a Diablo veteran of any sort, I recommend going at least Hard. Still, good fun. Kinda buggy on my laptop unfortunately. It won't let me send my pet back to town to sell shit. I have to keep town portaling. Shame, as that seemed like a really useful feature. As it is, it'll let me click on the button and then do precisely fuck all. Oh well. Also, it keeps defaulting back to windowed mode and 640x480 every time I start the game up, rather than retaining my full-screen native resolution settings. Nothing game-breaking, but annoying nonetheless. I hope this isn't a sign that the game got rushed out a bit early. I'd hate for some irritating but avoidable bugs to sour an otherwise great experience.
  22. Torchlight?

How does the ranged character play for this? My download is at about 95% right now, and I'm wondering which character to start with.
  23. Torchlight?

I wish I'd been paying more attention to this game. Would've saved me $2 on the Steam preorder. Oh well. This is getting a crazy reception, and I've been jonesing for a good Diablo-alike lately. Diablo II replay was cutting it for a while, but I've beaten that game 4 damn times already. I think I'll probably be purchasing this later tonight.
  24. Brütal Legend overload...!

Free on PSN. As I still don't have it, this is certainly pushing me towards the PS3 version. Come on, Microsoft, you can lose the $5 a sale for all the goodwill and extra copies it would have given you.
