Yeah, this will probably be a delayed purchase for me. I'm interested, but don't really have time or money for it right now. I got the preorder and bundle discount of L4D2, NSMBWii is non-negotiable. AC2 has to wait. Still, looks fun and I really liked the first one.

I'll just clear this floor. I'll just go through this vendor map. Whatever. Yeah, totally.

I'm downloading L4D2 right now. I'd be up for a run through one of the campaigns before GTA if anyone is interested in a go with me. I just got a headset microphone working, so I may actually be useful with communication this time!

"The SABOTEUR" or "The Game That Kingz Has Been Asking For Since GTA III"

You're thinking of Velvet Assassin. Like Splinter Cell, but you fight nazis and go on opium benders. I really enjoyed the first Assassin's Creed. It wasn't mind-blowing, but it was a hell of a lot of fun. The Cities each had a different feel and were each fairly interesting. As for the gameplay, it got repetitive, but there was always something fun to be doing. Its biggest failing was that its "gamieness" was really transparent. Same sidequests from identical NPCs standing way too close to each other and such like that. If you can put up with that, it's a really fun game. -
Yeah, 3D Mario has yet to recapture the charm of Sprite Mario, but he doesn't look horrible by any means. I'm replaying NSMBDS right now in anticipation as Amazon has yet to deliver the Wii version, and though the choir thing is irritating, the music itself and the graphics are both perfectly fine. Whups: Mailman just came. ...Damn. No NSMBW. Back to the DS while I wait for L4D2 to download.

That actually sounds incredible. Just the idea of a facebook app that scans your friends' profiles and dictates what circle of hell they belong to would be amazing.

I picked it up for $5 on the D2D sale a couple of months back. For the life of me I don't know when I'm going to play it, but the intention is there. Take heart, Lobotomy, I'm even further behind than you!

I had a friend tell me it scared the shit out of him. Note, this is not me. I have not seen it. Don't hate me if it sucks.

Jeez, you new people are so defensive. Put that flameshield away. You don't need it here. If you ever do, that's my cue to leave.

If I show up I wouldn't mind a few (2 or 3) rounds of Gay Tony just so I can say I've tried it. I'm still cool if not though.

Hey, we're all about sacrilege here. I only ever got about 25 hours into VII, and found the story to be the least exciting thing about it. Some of the scenarios were cool, but the overarching plot I couldn't give a shit less about.

...as I certainly am, you would likely have recently received your "platinum reward" from 2009. This is Nintendo-speak for "you bought a whole crapload of our stuff and registered it on our website, so we're sending you some goofy trinket." The choice of trinket was between a Mario hat and a WiiWare game that is a mini version of Punch Out!! which involves you sparring with Doc Louis. I got the Punch Out!! DLC, which is honestly what it is. So after redeeming my download code, I started to play Punch Out!! for the first time since downloading the NES version off of the Virtual Console. I didn't play the Wii version, despite meaning to over and over. Didn't have any money when it came out. By the time I got money, other, bigger games had hit. This is my first experience with Wii Punch Out, and I have to say I love it. I'm considering the Doc Louis version more of a demo than a bonus, but as a demo it worked. I'm sold and will probably be hunting down a copy of this in the next month or so. In the meantime, I'll keep on punching Doc while he tells me that "The sweet taste of victory comes from effort, not chocolate." Anyone else who bought way too much Nintendo stuff and would like to compare notes?

Ok, I've now pulled this off, figuring out that it is actually necessary if you're going to beat him. Thanks for the tip, as I would never have actually beaten Doc without knowing that you could do that. It is really awesome. My only gripe about Doc Louis' Punch Out!! is that I don't really have the money to buy full Punch Out!! right now, and this really makes me want to. Also, why the hell can't you save stats? I get that it's only a 15 minute thing start to finish, if that, but I'd still like to see if I can beat previous times or get through without him hitting me as often or things like that. Having no saves whatsoever is totally weird. Especially since the actual fight doesn't unlock until you beat the warm up and training. Once you get to the real fight the first time, having it become locked again every time you close the game seems bizarre. Oh well.

Yeah, I really dug Dragon Quest 4 on DS. Highly recommended. It's bloody awesome, and has some really funny moments.
-
Fair enough. I just never had the opportunity to buy it. I've heard from a lot of people that it's great. I never had a PS1, so eventually I bought FF7 and 8 used from various places to give them a shot on my PS2 a few years back. Never came across a copy of 9, so I haven't played it.

I played it for a while but lost interest very quickly. To me it seemed to have all of the qualities that keep adventure games from branching out to a wider audience. Obtuse puzzles, frustrating logic, and just a general feeling of clunkiness. That said, I loved what they tried to do with the story and the art style, so if they can fix the weirdness of the game itself, I think the setting and characters have some real potential. Here's hoping the sequel does gameplay right in addition to atmosphere.

I own every Final Fantasy game except 9 an 11. I have completed none of them. I always really enjoy them for a while and then lose interest around hour 20. They just become such a slog as you go through them. I'm probably going to ignore 13 until it hits the Greatest Hits line and I can get it for cheap. I can understand and relate to liking Final Fantasy, but the hyperbole that gets layered onto the series continues to baffle me.

EeeeeEEeeeEEEeeEEEEeEEEEEdge: A Feckless Disregard for Poopieheads may be my favorite name of all time.

I got a bit into the second, but felt really let down after how great the first one was. I may try picking it up again sometime, if only because Toblix will likely kill me otherwise.

I'll be getting home from work at 4:30 today (2130 GMT, I think) and if anyone is still online I should probably have some stress to work out.

I just heard the jingle from the old ads for the Operation game. "Is it water on the moon?" "OP-ER-A-TION!"

Shit, I just completed a bunch of post-play surveys to hit platinum for 2010. I really am a horrible person. Of course, all I did was register everything Nintendo that I've bought since 2006, so those 3 years of purchases really added up, and the 10 points for each virtual console purchase helped too. Still, it's sad how easily I reach that point. I guess I just really love me some Nintendo.

Deal, though finding an open time slot to play in can be difficult for me sometimes, (hell, often) Christmas break is only 4 weeks away at this point. Plenty of time to blast through a full campaign then.
-
Perfect. Just what I wanted to hear. Kroms, I haven't played Dragon Age, but I beat Uncharted 2 in a week. If you're looking for something to last you til Christmas, you may want to take that into consideration.

No North American release though. Believe me, if I could have, I would have played the shit out of that game.
