  1. Formula Thumb

I have no idea what you mean by this, but if you'll explain it I'll try...
  2. Flotilla

Ah, so there's a tactical thing that I'm missing here. The key thing to realize is that I completely suck at strategy games and usually get my ass kicked right quick. I will take your advice to heart next play.

Invisible War was fun. If it wasn't a sequel to Deus Ex, it would have been much better recieved. People got overhyped, and when they were delivered a good but not mind-blowing game, they got pissed. Still, more than worth $5.

I HATE MOTHERFUCKING BEAM FRIGATES!!! Also: The music is wonderful. Love it. Didn't expect it to be nearly as atmospheric as it is. I'm on my 9th adventure at this point. I have survived 2 of my previous 8. Still, it's really cool that I keep seeing things that I've never seen before after all this time playing it. I am a fan. Thank you for bringing my attention to this game, forum/podcast.
  5. Ubisoft DRM

I find it really interesting reading this thread while listening to episode 35 of the podcast where the thumbs are talking about C&C4's always-online model and how it's not such a big deal. I'm not really up on the intricacies of either system, so it seems like they're the same to me. Can anyone tell me what the difference is that makes Ubisoft's scheme such shit and EA's ok? For the record, I kinda think both are bullshit. The majority of my PC gaming is done on my laptop during slow nights at the end of a shift, and my work does not have wifi. If a game requires that I be online, my opportunities to play it are more than cut in half. To me though, both systems seem to be the same, or at least similar to the point that they're indistinguishable to the layman. Help me thumbs. Explain. What's the deal here?
  6. GTA LII: Steve McQueen's Greatest Role

    Roman numeral 52? Also, in.

CANADIANS! TAKE HEED! On Saturday I was at Best Buy looking for a decent pair of headphones and (as I usually do) ended up browsing their video games. In the PS3 section, I noticed that Brutal Legend was $40. Having still not picked it up, I was tempted. Then I thought to myself that it would probably run better on 360, as things tend to, so I went to check if it was cheaper on that. Much to my delight, the 360 version was $20. If you are Canadian, have a 360, meant to buy Brutal Legend but never got around to it, and are currently in posession of a green bill with the queen's face on it, get thee to a Best Buy.
  8. Flotilla

That post just made me buy the game. Well done.
  9. Recently completed video games

How significant is the change to the ending? If I'm way behind on all the other ARG stuff, is it still worth seeing?
  10. New people: Read this, say hi.

As no one else is replying to the question, I guess I'll throw out that I believe the banner art was done by Stevan Zivadinovic, also known as Kingzjester on the forums. If I'm wrong in this, I apologize and will remove the post. If I'm right, yay! I'm useful!
  11. EA Presents

Damn. That puts everyone else to shame. Well done, sir.
  12. La Celle Splintereux: Conviçion

I'm not sure as to the publisher (maybe ubisoft as well? Is that supposed to be an ironic question?) but it was the last game made by Free Radical (of the excellent Timesplitters) before they went under and killed any chance of Timesplitters 4. Made me very sad. As for the PC DRM, is this game going to be on Steam? I know most Ubisoft games are, and if so it'll probably just use the same copy protection that Steam has if you get that version, won't it? This one has been under my radar for a while now, so I guess I'll just wait it out for a while.
  13. Left 4 Thumbs 2

Don't be so hard on yourself. Sometimes you scream...
  14. Dawn of War 2

I'm with you on the noob scale, 'blix. I want to play more, but at the moment I'm knee deep in "shit I graduate next month and need to earn it" procedures, so my single player campaign will have to remain at "3 levels complete" for the time being. That said, I'm housesitting until the 12th, but after that if there's a game scheduled that I can make I'd be happy to give last stand a whirl with some people of comparable skill. It sounds really fun, and hopefully doesn't take too much time (?).
  15. LOOK AT MY WHEELIE!!! Excellent game, PS. It's been far too long.
  16. EA Presents

And then Brkl had to go and turn him into Andross...
  17. Dawn of War 2

I've had it on the backlog for a long time, and all this talk of expansion is getting me into the single player. 'blix, I'd be happy to partake in a low-skill match sometime, seeing as I totally suck at RTSes and have only played through the early parts of the SP. Anyone with skill at these games scares me, but as you just picked it up we may be on an even playing field at least until you get used to it.
  18. This time, finally shall be in again. Make it count, Thumbs.
  19. Another Mario Thing

I assume that, as a journalist, OssK got a chance to play a preview build.
  20. Rittai Kakushi E Attakoreda

Well, a ー indicated that you hold the vowel for a bit longer, and the fact that he used katakana indicates that it is not a Japanese word. Follow that up with the picture before him in the thread, and I'm pretty sure we've got us a "GREAT SCOTT!"
  21. Civilization V

Was the first voice in that trailer Keith David? I swear I recognized a few others too. That was pretty sweet. If they did indeed replace Nimoy's voice acting with a bunch of other people though, I will be a sad Miffy.
  22. Just Cause 2

You just made me care about this game. That sounds like the best thing I'd have ever played.
  23. General Video Game Deals Thread

Oh, so it's that it's not actually a deal yet. After I went through all that I just assumed that they were jerks and Canadians didn't get the deal.
  24. Movie/TV recommendations

    Sam Fuller's "Shock Corridor"
  25. Heavy Rain

That just looks like a diagram for how to drop a baby...
