Hahaha! I totally own that movie. Didn't know MST3K did an episode on it. Rad.

Damn Steam achievements are keeping me from finishing the game. I do most of my playing at work, where there is no wifi. This means no internet. This means Steam is in offline mode. This means no Steam achievements. I'm finished every single faction mission. I'm ready to play through the endgame and see some credits (about 26 hours in). But if I do this in offline mode, I don't get my stupid Steam achievements. I figure since it's something I'm going to do anyway, I want to get the credit for it on Steam, so I can't do this at work. This also means that I need enough home time to play through the last mission of the game, which I won't be guaranteed for at least a week and a half. DAMN YOU, OFFLINE MODE!

Is the thread at Lucasforums particularly negative? If so, allow me to counter by saying that I actually liked MI:SE and intend to unreservedly buy MI2:SE the second it is available to me. As someone who had played MI enough times to have the entire game path coded into their muscle memory, it was cool to have a new take on it, while at the same time very nice to be able to hit F10 whenever it got to be too much for me. I'm excited to have the same experience with MI2.

Metal Gear Solid 4 - Guns of the Saucer Men From Mars
miffy495 replied to Cigol's topic in Video Gaming
Damn, now I want to do another series replay. My problem with Metal Gear is that every time I want to play one, I end up making myself play ALL of them. I just really love the games, and every game has something different to love. I have MGS1 on my PSP, so maybe I should start that up at work tonight. Or maybe not. I have way too much on my plate right now. Why oh why did you bring this thread back? -
True, but he said Eurogamer, not Adventure Gamers...

Man, considering I've only had that avatar for about a year, that's weird. I guess given the huge influx of people, a large chunk of the community now only knows me by that. Odd that I can just grab a random image from the internet and suddenly it's me, but that the photoshop job I did of an Elebit holding a gun from Gears of War that I used for three years is not remembered at all. Also, Kroms, that totally sucks. I hope you get an appeal or something. Good luck on your other exams, man.

Brilliant! Be on the lookout for bats. My finals are all done, though my ceremony is actually after Red Dead comes out. Excited for a bit of time to play it in though. Then a month or so after that, I'm moving in with my girlfriend of just under 3 years. Not as cool as a cross country motorcycle trip, but I'm pretty excited about it nonetheless.

McGqeq600D8 That is all.

I'd be game, but finding time at the moment is a bit harsh. If anyone who has me on Steam fancies a game and I'm online, ship me an invite and I'll at least respond with a reasonable excuse if not a positive reply.

Nice work, gerbil. Damn you for getting there first. Also, weird. I can't imagine what being hit in the chest by a small flying mammal at high speed feels like. Was the little guy ok?

Snow Buddies is nothing compared to Space Buddies. Trust me. I have a friend with which I will routinely drink and watch movies about animals doing people things. The top picks of all time have been MVP: Most Valuable Primate, and Karate Dog (starring Chevy Chase and John Voight!).

Also a massive hassle. I'm not really sure how I'd work it out. Another part of my year off is to figure that shit out.

I still have a shrink-wrapped copy for 360, but to hell with it. I prefer PC gaming anyway.

Is this going to be a PC thing? Regardless, exciting news! Congrats to all the Telltale employees who post on Idle Thumbs. Hell, let's be generous. Congrats to all Telltale employees, regardless of whether or not they post on Idle Thumbs (though we've got our eye on you...)!

I think the thing was that it's not all of their games for the next ten years either. The deal applies to one, and only one, franchise. Since Bungie is big enough to have several teams on the go now, only one of those will be working with Activision. I think we can assume that, since it's Bungie we're talking about, there will be a second team devoted to cranking out the latest Halo, and possibly then a third which has ties to neither Microsoft or Activision. I'm interested to see where this goes, but a bit leery myself. Still, if they can separate from Microsoft and stay on good terms, their legal team has already proven their prowess. Good luck to 'em, I guess.

Ah, fair enough. I intend to go back for a Master's, which would be two years here as well, but I am torn between doing what I originally went into school to do and continuing with Philosophy and seeing if I can make a career in academia out of it. As such, I'm taking a year off before applying to grad school for next year. During this year, I will continue to work my current very nice job and also get some volunteer work done. While doing this, I hope that my competing ambitions will go into a full-on battle and will apply for whichever kind of Master's degree the surviving one recommends.

Well, it helps that we're a heritage site. The place is celebrating it's 75th anniversary as a movie theater this year, and the building is even older (our basement still has stalls from when it used to be a stable in the 1920s. We keep our coke bibs on shelves in them). Also, the guy who owns our theater also owns the Princess theater on Whyte (White? Whatever) Avenue in your city, which is where most of his money comes from. Also, his wife is a doctor. He's pretty much keeping us open as an act of philanthropy and because he is an amazingly nice person. He's more or less retired to Edmonton though and is very hands-off, so for the most part my theater is run by this incredibly laid back and amazingly cool guy who does all of our booking and finances and just sends updates to the actual owner of the theater now and then. We've got arrangements with all of the big festivals in town (Fairy Tales GLBT Film Fest is coming up, and we just finished the Underground Film Fest. We're also a main venue for CIFF, do all the films associated with the Sled Island festival, made a partnership with the Comic Convention starting this year, etc, etc, etc) and several businesses around the city (Burning Moon video does their cult 80s screening the first Thursday of every month, Pages book store does readings with the authors on our stage [got one of those this Sunday], Mountain Equipment Co-op does ski and snowboard film screenings with us, etc). Our normal movie bookings don't do incredibly well, but the fact that we host 2 or 3 special events a week on average keeps us afloat. We don't get box office from those, but the concession is where the money is at anyway. Almost all the money from a ticket goes to the distributor. You really just want people to come in to buy snacks from you. It really is all about the events. Right now, for example, we're showing the french film A Prophet from last year, which is doing barely enough business to cover people's wages. That said, we ran a mountain climbing film festival on the weekend, and the people who rented the theater did so for what we would normally make in four days of screening that film while we only had to cancel one show to do so. On Saturday morning, someone is going to get married in the theater and I get to run lighting and sound for it. They're paying for the rental and concession for the entire wedding party, and we don't need to cancel a single show. Basically, if you're thinking about getting into this stuff for serious, be prepared to hold a lot of special events and stress out over them constantly. It's how you'll stay afloat as a one-screen art and underground cinema. Our programmer started joking right after CIFF that we should just say we have a year-round film festival here, and he turned out to be making a prophecy. It's stressful, but rewarding. That was probably way more info than you wanted, but now you know. It's pretty much a freak accident that the Plaza exists in its current form, but damn is it cool that it does.

Man, well done! Due to the way that my school works, I appear to be about a week ahead of you in the same process, yet with a much less useful degree. Congratulations to you, then! Let us revel in our mutual completion of way too much stuff! If we lived anywhere near each other, imagine me buying you a beer right now.

Happy birthday, Nappi!

Grats man! Go celebrate in some way that borders on responsible, but would not likely be considered entirely so!

I picked it up again last night for the first time in weeks. Game clock tells me I've put in 24 hours now. I have five faction missions left to do (3 reaper, 2 whatever-that-drug-cartel-is-called) and then the final Agency missions. Getting close to the end! Exciting!

Damn, I was in Futureshop earlier today picking up a Blu Ray player for my employer (PS: Come to the Plaza! We're now HD-compatible for films that the distributor doesn't want to give us on 35mm!). I totally would have picked it up then.

Sorry I couldn't make it. I went to try and set up a blu ray player at my theater, as my boss is great with machinery but not so much with anything electronic, and ended up working a 13 hour shift helping get everything in order for his departure halfway across the country to deal with a family emergency. I basically get all his duties for the next two weeks, which will pretty much completely prevent me from joining in any thumb games for that length of time. Anyway, as I said, 13 hour shift. I had to cancel my "Got an A on my thesis" celebration, and am working the next 9 days straight. I'm a little pissed off, but also feel guilty about that because the reasons my boss is leaving are completely horrible for him. I'm going to go to bed.

GTA 58 This one doesn't have a subtitle.
miffy495 replied to Patters's topic in Multiplayer Networking
Blug. I've never used one of those things. You'd have to give me time to install shit and try to get it set up. -
Now that school is done and homework no longer a concern, I'm going to start working on my own pile in my free time. Beat Sam and Max 301 tonight, which isn't very long but is certainly my most pressing game to play. Then got back into Just Cause 2 for an hour, which made the in-game timer pop up with "time played: 23 hours." That was a little scary to me, but I'm still having fun so something must be right about it. After that, back to Dragon Age, Bioshock 2, Brutal Legend, and by then Red Dead Redemption and 3D Dot Game Heroes should both be in my house as well. Looking like it'll be a busy summer of games, but I'm more than happy to oblige. 12 before Christmas? You're on. Come to think of it, I've played the first few hours of Ico many times, but I don't think I've ever finished it. Maybe I should dig up my copy and get back into it...
