Yeah, I was wondering how they'd handle Machiavelli. Sounds like my fears were confirmed. Oh well. Watching that GB quicklook made me desperately want the game. Instead, I'll settle for replaying AC1, 2, and Bloodlines (PSP) while waiting to hopefully get it for Christmas or my birthday. The trouble with having your birthday and Christmas a week apart is that around the time November starts, you can't buy a damn thing for yourself, just in case. It makes the late November rush of awesome games very painful. At least I've got a tonne of AC to replay to get myself back up to speed.

When I was viewing the apartment they turned it on and everything. It's gas with ceramic fake logs, so I don't get to light my own or anything, but it's still a fireplace.

OH SHIT I FINALLY HAVE AN APARTMENT LOCKED DOWN! I WON'T BE HOMELESS IN TWO WEEKS! WHOO! ...also, I now have a fireplace just in time for Christmas. Awesome.

Working through my backlog, finish the original Force Unleashed last night. Not the best thing, but fun while it lasted. I enjoyed throwing men through space windows and stabbing the Emperor in the head. I got the Ultimate Sith Edition on Steam, so I have some DLC to go through now. I believe I shall, as it would be enjoyable to do.

I put in my application for another year of University. Now that I have a bachelor's degree, I can go in for another two years to get my Bachelor of Education, so pending my acceptance, next fall I'll be starting the training to be an elementary school teacher. Kind of exciting to actually be getting shit on track. Lately it's been feeling like this year is the one in which I do all sorts of growing up, from graduating to moving in with my girlfriend next month, I figured even though the deadline isn't until April, I may as well go for it and get the rest of things on track. Maybe see if they have an early acceptance thing. With my 3.83 GPA, it shouldn't be too tricky. Exciting life things!

I am torn between this and Vanquish, but this is $20 cheaper, so will probably get it. Just played the demos for both, and am having a hard time deciding.

I swear to god there was a hydralisk head in a trophy room when I was playing The Force Unleashed (original. Working through my backlog) this afternoon.

Just polished off Deathspank. Every achievement and every sidequest done in about 15 hours. I quite liked it. For a buck an hour (crass, I know, but it just kinda worked out like that) I certainly feel like I got my money's worth. A few good laughs came out, and the gameplay never got any more monotonous than, say, playing a barbarian class in a Diablo-alike. Very much recommended for anyone on the fence. If you know you have no interest in this game, ignore it, but if you've been considering it at all, go for it. If Thongs of Virtue hits Steam, I'll pick it up right away.

Last thing I'm going to say on the matter (other than, to answer your question, yes I'm very serious with my girlfriend) is this: Allow potential relationships to fail. I should add that the girl who's birthday party I met my girlfriend at I only started hanging out with because a guy I worked with was trying to set the two of us up. We went on two dates, weren't feeling it, and just became casual friends instead. And yet, if I hadn't dated her ever so briefly, I never would have met the wonderful person I'm with. If something is a non-starter, that doesn't mean you failed. At least you'll be broadening your social circles.

I went to an accquaintance's birthday party and ended up in a 3+ year relationship with her best friend. Shit seems to just happen. I don't think anyone can give real advice on the matter. Anyone who tells you otherwise has something to sell. All you can really do is put yourself out there and always be willing to talk to people. Sooner or later, you and someone you just talked to because you could may hit it off.

I currently do not have a mailing address, as I am moving apartments at the end of the month. If I find my new place in the next week or so, I will give my address to you and it will be the best Christmas ever.

Yeah, I just got my first invincibility orb after beating that boss, actually. Also a one-use outhouse teleporter. The game is really bad about timing when to give out those special use items.

I just ran the dungeon at level 16, I had originally tried it at level 11. It was a total slaughter this time. I think I genuinely just stumbled into it and tried to run it while ridiculously under-leveled. The boss didn't even give me a spot of trouble. Don't you worry about little old me. If anything, people should take this as encouragement that after that incredibly frustrating experience, I'm still going back and completely loving my time with the game. After running that dungeon, Deathspank's interactions with the orphan he rescues had me in stitches. was the best line of the game for me so far. Can't wait to spend more time with this game.

As I said, I have a coworker who insisted upon watching me play through every single episode of Sam and Max as they came out, and she was nearly in tears . Considering she knows nothing about the comics or the cartoon, I'd say that you had an impact there, yeah. Also, I'm with Twig on being appalled by the implications of that sentence.

Been playing a bunch on my downtime. Steam tells me I've put 5 hours into it now. There was an incredibly frustrating bit where I was stuck in the demon mines (the second time. On my way to Von Prong's) as I made it most of the way in by struggling every step of the way, then found an insurmountable boss for my level and tried backtracking out. Unfortunately, everything I'd fought to get there had respawned and I was out of healing items. Also, you can't warp from within a dungeon, so outhouses were no good to me. I spent about 4 minutes stringing major demons along with my crossbow, killing one at a time, then getting killed by the next one, respawning at the last outhouse, running back and killing the one that just killed me, then getting killed by the next one, etc etc etc. 45 goddamn minutes. Aside from that, It's been a lot of fun and I don't get what all the iffy response was for when it came out on consoles. I just wish I'd had a fucking town portal there.

Oh man, my girlfriend had told me about that, but I'd never seen it. It's part of a big series she did on the mating habits of different animals, as acted out by professionals. That was pretty awesome. Props to Rosellini for being crazy enough to make that into a thing.

After about 2 months of completely fruitless apartment hunting, my cup suddenly runneth over. I have 3 viewings booked for tomorrow, with some others backed up if I need to check. So far I've been seeing mostly crap, but sooner or later I feel like something will have to work out. Back to the ol' grind. At least I have internet at work.
