  1. I was yesterday at Fry's buying Still Life, and I saw 1 copy of Psychonauts for the PC. It was hidden in the adventure games section, behind some other games, barely visible. So I took it out from the back and put it in front of all the games on the shelf. If Majesco is not going to do it, Someone should. :shifty:

  2. No, but they do create a more complete experience in my mind. Which is a personal opinion that I recognize for its subjectivity and relativity.

It's just as much of a game as The Sims was. The Sims had no real narrative. Actually in his talk, will write mentions that he believes in letting players craft their own story, and not impose it on them. So in his mind, while you grow your creature, change its look, make it interact with different civs, and go talk to different planets and galaxies, you are crafting your own narrative.

  3. I have the utmost respect for Will Wright. The quy is a genius. I know lots of people here don't like the Sims or its sequel, but there is no denying its charm and innovation.

When I saw Spore in this demo, it blew me away. **** graphics and not looking good, this game oozes technical innovation. Procedural movement and interaction? Everything in your game comes from other users? Even the dances are procedural based on the shape of your creature? That is what next-gen is about, not a bunch of shiny graphics and an enemy that doesn't even duck for cover, or a cut scene after cut scene of animation like gameplay. Next gen is about GAME innovation, and Will Wright is the only one doing that so far. He could have stayed in the laurels of his Sims franchise and made a gazillion more bucks from Sim 10 Shopping Spree, but this guy loves games and loves making games.

The only thing more astonishing than Spore, is how it will come out from a publisher like EA.

  4. Yeah that Killzone bit was pretty amazing looking.

And there was one thing I'd forgotten about Playstation that automatically puts above the rest: Final Fantasy. As long as you have that franchise you will probably win in sales. I'm sure just the prospect of a remade, fully 3d FF VII will get people buying the hardware.

You know that FF is coming to the XBOX right?

  5. Why exactly would that be such a dealbreaker? I mean it would definitely be convenient, but how man games are you going to be so desperate to play all the time that you can't use your old Xbox?

Instead of needing one room to store your XBOXes now you need 2. You can save one room of storage you know.

  6. By the way is there a single player version of the game? And if not, what are the controls for player 2? I was playing 2 players, but could only move my turtle. Also how do you fire the lightning. And where is this smoke health indicator? I didn't see it when I tried playing.

You know what would be cool? If these turtles can pick up various forms of power ups that give them rediculous powerups. Kinda like worms but with direct control. That would be fun :)

  7. I think Microsoft is setting themselves up for some serious hurt.

The nice thing about the Xbox is it is, undebatably, the most powerful console available. It came late in the game, and was therefore equipped with the newest stuff. This time around, the XBOX 360 is the first one out of the gate, so it misses certain opportunities, such as the inclusion of a PPU or HD DVD drive. The PS3 or Revolution will most likely include both of these.

Still, it has some fairly impressive specs, and some of the features sound pretty cool. It will be interesting to see who wins the so-called "console war" this time around.

As for me, I'll probably buy all three of them. I'm a sucker like that.

I really doubt that hardware makes a difference. It all boils to the software they provide. Yes XBOX was a better console than all the others, but PS2 won in the sales. So if MS can make tons of games for their console, which they seem to be doing based on all the publishers commitments and the Japanese developers working on the platform, they should be in good shape. Plus never discard Microsoft's amazing marketting power and their $$$$$$.

  8. Okay finally we got the details here

    Bottom line:

Looks same as the photos floating around: The round bulky white console, with the white controller.

    Wireless controller

    Great graphics and processing power

    20 GB detachable external harddrive

Memory stick on console rather than controller

XBOX live silver gives access to gamer card for free. Also micro transactions and playing MMO's for a monthly fee.

XBOX live gold gives access to all other multi-play games.

Nothing revealed about backward compatibility or price.

    What do you guys think?

  9. You're not supposed to run it from the zip file. And the exe isn't the installer, it's the game. Just extract the whole lot (with folders) to a location of your choice and run the exe to play.

Maybe we should start including a readme... Does anyone read those things?

If you have access to install shield use that. I think even winzip has some archiving mechanism where you can bundle everything as an exe and extract it. I will download the game now and give it a try :)

  10. Did you defeat the other 3 wrestlers? If yes, did you go to the bull fighter and talk to him before you fight the 4th wrestler. If not, find the bull fighter and get the confusion grenade from him BEFORE you fight the fourth wrestler.

  11. Edgar is the guy whose mind is the velvet level. Basically find your way throughout the level by collecting the 4 Queens. Once you reach the final card, you will meet the metadore/bull fighter. Talk to him and he will give you the confusion grenade.

  12. Just finished the game. Ace in every way

    except for:

Collecting figments: These things are so damn hard to find. Agree with Moos, if there was some kind of figment finder, it would have made collecting more enjoyable.

Circus meat: Man I was going to break my gamepad. I died like a gazillion times, especially in the level where you have to reach the top before you drown. That level is so much more difficult than all the prior levels combined.

But everything else was amazing. Now I'm a little sad that it's done. Time for Jade Empire I guess :yep:
