I really love the way Majesco is supporting all these small developers, and supporting innovation. But among all the titles they are releasing, the only one I have bought (or considered buying) is Psychonauts. I am keeping an eye on Advent Rising which looks very promising, but I'm waiting for the reviews.

nintendo to come with revolution in gaming?
SoccerDude28 replied to ysbreker's topic in Video Gaming
All these are cool hardware gimmicks but unless you support it with software, the console will go the way of the virtual boy. Software drives consoles, and that's what Micro$oft is concentrating on in the next generation. -
I just bought World or warcraft. Oh my god, what have I done ... There goes 4 hours without me blinking. I've never felt time pass by like this. I already am a night elf at level 6, killed a big spider, danced with some random girl, and joined a guild. This game is crack I tell you... It's crack.

Nope it's all about the hardware

because size DOES matter!!!!

That was all in the demo. Didn't you play the demo Trepster?

What have I done??? (World of Warcraft)
SoccerDude28 replied to SoccerDude28's topic in Video Gaming
So chris and Le Chimp, what are guilds really for. I joined one, some girl approached me yesterday and asked me if I wanted to join, but I have no clue what a guild provides or what do you do in one. So far I've been playing it mostly solo, which is fun, but I think it might get boring after a while. I do need some more folks to do group fights and stuff. -
Gamespot has a release date for each game. Just search for the game and on the main page, look at the release date.

What have I done??? (World of Warcraft)
SoccerDude28 replied to SoccerDude28's topic in Video Gaming
I'm still kinda new to this game, so I'm just learning as I go. What are honor points? And can you actually be killed by some other random player in a non PvP zone? -
My local EBGames has the XBOX version now. If any of you bay area folks want the XBOX version, you can come to Hillsdale mall in San Mateo. The guy said they will have the PC version tomorrow On another note Gameinformer gave Psychonauts an 8.75 and a 9.0 and Play magazine gave the PC version of Psychonauts a 9.5 (because of hi-res graphics).

Who's fault is this? The game is supposed to be released on 19th and we pre-order and we have to wait one week for the game to be shipped. Is it: Majesco's fault? or is it EBGames fault? The last time I pre-ordered Freedom force from Irrational Games, I got it the same exact day it shipped. The wait

Yup finally I saw it in gamespot here http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/psychonauts/downloads.html I can't wait to go home and download it...

Okay I am playing Halo Combat Evolved on the PC right now, and I have not a single clue why it got the reviews and the rave it did. To be fair, there were some nice touches like riding vehicles and squads helping you out in combat. But the repetitive level design got me bored quickly, and I'm contemplating quitting the game when I am really close to the end. I mean what's up with room after room after room that look 100 % identical. And then you cross a section hoping to see something new, and then another bunch of rooms that look the same. Can't they at least spend time to vary the levels up a little? And how about the weapons? Why can I only carry two weapons at a time? All the weapons feel pretty much the same and I didn't feel much variety between them at all. I dunno it is an average shooter at most compared to games like Half life or even quake and the original doom (I'm not comparing it to HL2 or its sequel or Far cry coz it was about 4 years old). Please explain to me what's all the hype about?
-
I was just replying to how "unique" the weapons in Halo were Relax...
-
Let's see. There is a needler in HL1 (you pick it from the big alien). Grenades are similar to the grenades in HL1. Assault rifle is similar to any other machine gun in any game. Rocket launcher is like the rocket launcher in DOOM or quake or Half life. the plasma blaster is similar to that in DOOM. The only weapon that I think is original is the plasma pistol, only when you overcharge it, because it can blast into shields. So ummm yeah original. And you are right Deus Ex and Thief are not FPS'es but No one lives forever, Swat 4, and System shock 2 are. And they are darn good ones too.

Man I feel your pain. I'm really frustrated with all this %#$$%#%. I called my local EBGames today and they don't have neither the XBOX nor PC version.
-
Halo for the PC came out in 2003. The original Halo came out in 2001. That's 2 YEARS
-
You got a point... How come the XBOX folks get coop in DOOM 3? Shame on you Micro$oft
-
Yeah it ran pretty smooth all throughout. The graphics are not great, but they're not bad either. And co-op? well how many PC games support that? By the way what graphics card do you have? Maybe it requires a higher end graphics card to run smooth. I ran it on an NVIDIA 6800 GT with a gig of RAM.
-
By the way, I went to EBGames today (Wednesday) and they said that the PC version should come tomorrow. I hope the guy is not bullshitting. Also I asked about the XBOX version and he told me their store sold out today , which was awesome news
-
If there is one thing I don't get is why everyone is complaining about the PC port being so awful. Okay suppose that you have the machine to play it (which I have, and it ran like a dream on mine), and suppose you don't care about coop (which I'm not really into), how does the XBOX version of Halo differ from its PC counterpart? I'm just asking because I never played it on an XBOX.

Well nothing looks as good as HL2. It is the best looking game I've ever seen. But chronicles of riddick still looks stunning and it is a great port, one of the few games where the port is better than its console counterpart http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/chroniclesofriddick/review.html http://pc.ign.com/objects/691/691009.html?ui=gamefinder http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/the-chronicles-of-riddick-escape-from-butcher-bay/?ui=gamefinder And Swat 4 looks really great (except for the characters themselves) and it is hailed as the smart-man's first person shooter.
-
How about this, will this push the limit here This is the new unreal engine. Stunning eh?
-
There are tons of wonderful and great PC games (unlike what Jake said ) that will push your rig to the limit. Swat 4 from Irrational Games is a gorgeous looking squad based shooter, with a lot of tactical aspects to it. The demo is available for download so you can check it out. Freedom force vs 3rd reich is in my opinion one of the best comic based games ever created. You've got Pirates! from Sid Meier which is fun albeit it won't push your PC to the extreme. Far Cry is another gorgeous looking shooter from Ubisoft. Splinter Cell Chaos theory looks stunning. Warhammer 40K is a good looking RTS. Act of War is a very good RTS with excellent graphics. Psychonauts of course. City of Heroes (MMORPG that is second to WOW) Chronicles of Riddick is breathtaking Incoming is Pariah, F.E.A.R, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, Age of Empires 3, Empire Earth 2, Starwars: Empire at war, Dungeon Siege 2, Half-life 2 aftermath, Auto Assault Is that enough games ?

Halo was planned to be released on the PC first, before bungie was bought, so it was a PC planned game to begin with. And I do believe that if it was a PC exclusive, it wouldn't have sold or gotten the hype that it did. For the XBOX, it was the first first person shooter, and with Microsoft's marketting, it soared. The game is good but flawed (if you look at my review I pinpointed what I thought were the weaknesses). And PC shooters are not really all twitch gameplay. Quake and Unreal that you mentioned are mainly multi-player games so it is expected that they offer lots of shooting. But look at System Shock 2, Half-life and its sequel, Swat 4, Far Cry, No one lives forever 1 and 2, some of the best first person shooters that came out in the last 5 years. All of them are much more than simple shooting. Actually DOOM 3 that turned out to be a twitch shooter was shunned by a lot of people as simple run-and-gun. So I don't believe that there is a "console" FPS or a "PC" FPS, there are just good FPS'es and better ones. It's not the fact that Halo is a bad game, but if you read the reviews and listen to people talk about it, they make it seem like the best thing since jesus. EDIT: And half-life 2 is coming to the XBOX. Hopefully now it will get some more fan recognition
