well we'll probably never find out, but as a lil note here, even crazy people do have motives, only their premises are off or their logic is off or both...

I loved every minute of it and in a movie this good those cheesy oneliners all of a sudden aint so cheesy no more! because with a character that actually has real depth to it (though I won't go as far as calling it a REAL character, since it still seems too far removed from real characterisation) those lines are a lot cooler and I thought they not only got away with it, but actually made me smile because bruce made a funny... So best comic-adaptation? Yes but not by much. They are really starting to get them right and in a lot of ways it's the curse of getting what you wished for. But they are also getting really good at these and a lot of the stuff is finally finding its way into the right hands. The cast is simply amazing. And Bale (who I always REALLY liked, ever since American Psycho, which just made me laugh so hard) is showing how enigmatic a figure he can be. I am really happy for him and hope to see more from him in this vein.

Yeah I really liked "Downfall" as well. Especially because to me it managed to demystify a lot of stuff about these figures. That really helps you deal with them.

More videogame movie news! Buffy is Alice!
lailoken replied to Kolzig's topic in Movies & Television
Silly silly Sarah Michelle actually thought that she could move beyond Buffy-esque characters... with movies like Cruel Intentions... I am sure somewhere the geek-nation is celebrating! Hooray for boobies -
Wow... that is weird! Did you have a technician from Microsoft over recently? Possibly something to do with the registry... dunno

By cooking, cleaning and being his obedient sex-slave? Just curious...

yepp it's quite funny that way...

well i thought it was fun! especially because if you try and think you can get almost all the movies by exclusion. either that or you can try to use picturequality to identify the time in which the movie was made i got 8 wrongs out of 260...

Your Console Story! Or how I ended up with a Sega Genesis.
lailoken replied to netmonkey's topic in Video Gaming
well... I still remember how I got my first Sega Mega Drive (the name of the Genesis in Europe) though the memory is a little blurry on details. It was Christmas and the first Christmas where I didn't actually whish for anything particular (up untill then it had been Lego mostly ). I remember walking into our living room and opening a little package that contained Madden (don't know the year, could look it up at my parents place tho;)) and I remember getting annoyed because this friend of mine had a Mega Drive and obviously this game (which it turned out some sales clerk had talked my mom into buying) on its own was useless. So I went to my mom and told her that this was really nice, but that I couldn't play it like that and that it was useless... and my mom smiled at me with that warm hearty smile that all women attain at achieving mother-level-status and told me to go look under the christmas tree. And lo behold! There was a BIG box there I hadn't noticed probably because it was SO big! And that was my Mega Drive and the beginning of my life in games, because even though I never REALLY played Madden (me being german and at age 12 not knowing the first thing about American Football) the Mega Drive shipped with a little jewel known as Sonic the Hedgehog! So that Christmas, that evening, was the first evening I played all night and all the next day. It was the best. Technically though the Mega Drive wasn't my first game system since we also had an old Atari before that and an Amiga500 and a Commodore 64... But for me it all really began with the little hedgehog named Sonic. I still remember the Sega-jingle when you turned it on... those were the days... I also still remember playing the two player mode in one of the sequels which was nice... oh and Streets of Rage... those were the days... Addendum: Years later it still strikes me as incredible irony that it was actually my parents (by talking to my friends parents without me uttering any desire for a game system at the time) who got me hooked on computer games as they would always lament how I didn't spend enough time outdoors because I was "addicted" to games ;P -
ok I honestly don't care, but here goes Saving Private Ryan was NOT a Vin Diesel film, he was nowhere near the lead in that one (that's definitely Tom Hanks and he was brilliant) I grant you that he suited his part (if memory serves me well) as he was portraying a dude without too much brains... Pitch Black, hahahahaha, oh yeah, he can see in the dark, wow... Boiler Room, well I honestly don't remember that movie, but I remember Diesel acting worse than Keanu "woa" Reeves... and that is saying something. This guy purportedly has been taking acting lessons since he's 9... well at least he manages to make a living out of it... but seriously... The excellent Jason Statham (who you must love simply for his great accent and his role selection skills (untill now)) will be starring in the latest Guy Ritchie movie Revolver. Also starring the excellent and terribly underexposed Ray Liotta who is starting to get SOME good parts again... finally ...and André 3000 [linkage] Addendum: Wow, doesn't that one look awesome! Hopefully Ritchie never again loses a bet to his wife :meh:

sorry, but aside from the fact that diesel is a non-actor, he is way too young to bring the right feel to the part... you are all asking to get burnt by this stuff
-
Vin Diesel is a terrible actor and I absolutely hate every movie he ever starred in. I'd also like to note that I refuse to take anyone who doesn't share this opinion seriously... sorry, just had to get that off my chest... you can go on now...

I just found this nice rant about the state of the market. [linkage]

Parenting, schools, bullys, homework and results - do video games affect it?
lailoken replied to monturner's topic in Video Gaming
yeehaaaw lets see if his membership/active participation lasts longer than the Gizmondo. In my opinion they just don't have the brawn (financially) to push this into the market... we'll see -
looked like a paintball gun to me...

see that was really strange, because the idea that the dark side would simply clone a lot of jedis and use them to destroy the jedi (which was the idea in the timothy zahn novels) really made a lot more sense than this version...

I still have some friend with an ongoing Forgotten Realms campaign, 11 years and going strong, even though now we only get to play during vacations (kids, jobs, family and university ...) but I still love it. Never adapted to 3rd edition rules though I got a call from one of the guys just recently and he got into Neverwinter Nights big time and really enjoyed building up his character. I also still have an ongoing selfcreated universe that I play from time to time with some other guys and that is always very interesting storywise (even though I DM). So I guess in that area I am as nerdy as can be Never got into Warhammer, it's all about the imagination for me. I got a little bit into Battletech but never got to buy stuff apart from the books

ok, I am sorry, but first of all the bad thing is: this should be forbidden but isn't and It's going to sell like crazy... that is just sick
-
you have gentile friends... elaborate .... ... ... please...

first of all Marek: What are you yammering about, use your L33t connections and give Shigeru a call about this, his lips are smacking for some tasty P1774 Second of all: OK the DS is nice! I tried some Warioware and I was just standing there and smiling like a retarded person

Did everyone get the memo on the change of naming conventions???? WTF!!! I sure as hell didn't and it is sickening to me! I STUDIED COMPUTERSCIENCES AND LEARNED THIS STUFF THE HARD WAY!!! So maybe there was a memo somewhere but shouldn't there have been a vote?!?! If there had been one, I would have given it a clear NON [linkage]

psychologically I think we are all quietly dealing with the shock that was the "shock and awe E3 campaign on IT" by uniting behind this quest for the common good
