  1. Nifty real-time water effect

Hahahaha, they can't write proper english, hahaha... sometimes you guys are real idiots/snobbish assholes! the graphics look great the water is the best I have seen ever and the idea sounds promising. Apparently they are just getting their shit together. Good luck to them! As to you guys... sometimes... "Oh there are only big developers and EA is teh dev1l!" and then "Haha, look their russian, they can't speak english! Sure they write their own engines and try to create some completely new content but... they don't know english grammar! hahahah" ...
  2. i want rose online bots or ryl

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA man and there I was thinking THIS thread was dead and gone, pow! damn life you kick some serious ass!
  3. Slashdot is apparently a nazi....

uh... freedom of speech? sorry, anybody seen it... must have been misplaced... Addendum: Ok I read some of the stuff that is in that post, and I can see where they must have problems. I don't think people on the internet are used to being taken seriously! So I guess there is some valid points to be made for this case and I have no doubt that Mr Merkey is a decent person. But including slashdot in there and stating that Linux is aiding terrorists? That is cutting it mighty close to slander IMHO. But I guess I didn't read the Patriot Act then, did I? As Dr Samuel Johnson said it a long time ago... "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel."
  4. Seen any good movies lately?

On blue screen: Not sure if I already mentioned this, but "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" is quite good, at least if you are into that whole adventure movie thing and throw in those old outrageously bombastic and brilliant european comics of olde (TinTin, Bob Morane, M (or something not sure of the name of that one, it's been a while)).
  5. Looks like you got your wish...

lets just hope this is not the beginning of the end of the first amendment in the US. lets hope this is not a fall-back to "old proven values" in the face of adversity. next stop: church prayer, intelligent design, english as offcial language, nullification of the separation of state? well we will see how far to the right the whole friggin country is going to move... Addendum: Ok, maybe this is overly dramatic, but I still think this whole decision is the sign of a real shift in public opinion and it's not really losing any momentum.
  6. Gabe Newell bashes next gen consoles

Multicore is coming, it's not like Gabe Newell is going to be able to do anything about that. Of course there is going to be problems, but I can't imagine the whole industry (with the new Pentiums and Athlon X2 already using two cores) is going to wake up and say, "wow that newell guy had it right, multicore is impossible". Now we all already know that the next generation is going to be pose some problems in terms of content complexity. But maybe it is time to move to a new content creation model?
  7. Seen any good movies lately?

I think it's still rather undecided as to wether or not V for Vendetta is going to suck... we shall see and read and ... stuff. Natalie Portman though... hawt
  8. Longhorn sounding funnier every day

sooo... *coughs, twiddles thumbs, looks around nervously* ... we ARE all switching to OS X right, .... I mean once it's hacked and all.... uh... yeah well games... never really liked those... *shifts around nervously* so that Uwe Boll guy, huh, what a nerve... hehe... aah....
  9. Gabe Newell bashes next gen consoles

First of all: Wow one ugly son of a bitch second: In that whole "No one knows how fast these things are"context, well you NEVER really know how fast these things can go, now do you! Of course you have an idea given past experiences with similar architectures and all that, but seriously, especially with parallel computing, no one knows really what these things could be capable off! So you CAN just through ballpark figures around like that, what does it matter? Is the public being deceived? Well probably yes, but seriously, what is the truth?!
  10. San Andreas (PC)

also I am curious about the stance penny arcade has on this. They probably changed sides somewhere along the way, I am only now finding out
  11. thanks for the link to that article Walt interesting and a good read
  12. Serenity/Firefly

well just sayin' it wouldn't be that special is all... but then I guess those other two series have been rather successfull as well... so maybe you are right... BUT, why would I misspell your name? The mystery continues right here on Thumb
  13. Serenity/Firefly

thank you for getting my point. well played, senor tabacco, well played indeed. now do I need to clarify?
  14. Intro Sequences in Games

I loved the intro to Super Metroid on the SNES. One of the greatest games of all time to me and the intro is just something I will never forget.
  15. I really like the BG, but it still saddens me that this show apparently works whereas my alltime favorite spaceshow, Space 2069, Above and Beyond (or whatever it was called) got cancelled... I guess it was too original. Anyway. I agree with a lot of the strong points and weaknesses that have already been pointed out here. Essentially they just utilised the name and recognition value from the old show and do something totally different. I do have real problems with some of the stuff that is going on (like the episode where "starbuck" interogates and tortures a cylon, to me that is too close for comfort, to the ongoing debate about US treatment of POW in Guantanamo). The acting is solid to good. But they should have had some more non-fighter-pilot-character who actually do stuff! I am missing any command structure and such... I loved Farscape. But my problem is that I never managed to see the series in their original order... maybe some day...
  16. Seen any good movies lately?

Great Movie, heh, I loved the fact that they were nominated for an Oscar for "Kiss at the End of the Rainbow". Especially because unlike most original songs it was actually performed by the actors. Great stuff. "All the way up to eleven, dude!"
  17. Serenity/Firefly

I know and even though I was tempted by your charming picture to post there as well, I managed to resist and do this thread instead. I just wonder if Firefly would have gotten such a cult following if it had been aired in the correct order and been the success that anything Joss Whedon apparently more or less is guaranteed to be. But like I said, really like the trailer.
  18. Google Moon

jeez netmonkey, Neverending Story? Die Unendliche Geschichte? I mean the book is ok but the movies? On topic: Man I really wanted to see the landing gear thingstuffs... damn
  19. Longhorn sounding funnier every day

Oh yeah man, Windows XP is so fucked up and all that and I still remember when I used to build my own machines and they were like as big as houses and way back then computing was really hardcore, you know. We cut our programms out of paper! Punchcards MoFu... hahahahahahahahahaha XP is brilliant and I hope Longhorn will be a worthy successor. Does anyone know if Microsoft is going to imitate the OS X Spotlight thingy? That would be great. But hey maybe this time in two years, I'll be running Windows in a native emulation Window on my Intel powered Mac BTW: I recently did an install on an old Win98 SE machine and it's just too painfull for words to describe.
  20. Intro Sequences in Games

most annoying intro thingy ever to me is the "intro" (or rather logoshow) at the startup of Dead or Alive (2??? not sure...) for the PS2. The damn soundeffekt when the Team Ninja logo appears was so LOUD that it brought the house down first time I started it up at my parents place (they have a HUMONGOUS surround sound system). I really loved the intro to the first Wipeout for PSX. I remember showing that to all my friends and everybody just went crazy!
  21. Asshole son gets his father fired

    yo' mama
  22. Now THIS is a DooM case!

Yeah that is really awesome, especially the fact that the guy seems to be determined to make everything on this baby work! Nice. Here is another case mod I found a few days ago which I guess is a completely different thing but still incredible! You really gotta see where this guy is going with this... [linkage ]
  23. Futurama movie coming!

I am sorry to say but Family Guy is going down the drain... sheesh! The fourth season is bad...
  24. Seen any good movies lately?

Oh in terms of Dreamworks animation might I suggest El Dorado? It might not be everyone's cup of the but Kevin Kline and Kenneth Branagh combined are simply a force to be reckoned with. Sure it feels a lil dated since it still adhere's to the old Disney "why waste a great moment with dialogue when you can SING" thing... but I even... like... the ... soundtrack... *runs away and hides under a brick*
