well i think it would be interesting to introduce puzzles of the same complexity as in some of the good adventure game into a more "open" game. so there are more options to solve a puzzle than just the one. also true nonlinearity would be nice. for instance in rpg, there never are those realy deep puzzles as in for instance dott. how about that? or an actiongame, or a survival horror game... anything could be better if it would challenge the player to a greater extent. but obviously all the other elements from the classic adventure games would be welcom additions to other genres, like a real sense of humour, selfdeprecating even. i think the possibilities are endless and i am astonished that there has yet to be a single game that does it well if at all!

yeah i destroyed about two dozen controllers during my hardcore gaming days. but i suppose you are probably beyond these outbursts of physical violence some games used to provoke in me through sheer frustration. but maybe your friend doesn't? why did you buy gta for ps2 anyway, i'm gonna wait till it comes out for pc, never played through vice city because of the shitty controls. you can't teach new tricks to an old dog and in terms of fps i consider my self an old dog indeed (an old mouse keyboard dog, that is). try to return the game?

i'm not! where am i discussing upgrades? i am talking about technology racing seemingly blindly ahead and the only thing on the horizon is the next title from id software or the next unreal engine (3). so the question for me is why i would even get all the stuff if it will take another 2 years (ok pbly less) till you get all the performance out of the hardware. my point being, is this really efficient or is this just consumption-driven marketbehavior at its worst!

yeah i really had to wait a loooong time till something came up that made me wanna upgrade my system (HL2 and Doom 3... oh and FarCry) so i think that is a real problem and it's getting worse! i know that we just witnessed an awesome christmas in terms of game releases but still the question remains, what is going to be the next awesome game to push the envelope! i don't really see it, any ideas?

yeah WoC suck ass, tsr was way better, but the art is way better under the new regime... i think the main problem is that pen and paper rpgs don't really pay off. i hate the way the new system is designed to entice people to buy more stuff. because as it turns out people were not buying the supplemental material for the old system, so now you have to buy supplementals if you want to get the full benefit of the stupid system! i hate it and i think it's pure evil... and 2nd edition can be fun too if only you make some minor modifications... oh well...

didn't know about that staff thing! and i like them, because they're very different from walmart in a lot of very important ways!

so your problem is the fact that most big movie releases in animation are tied in with big merchandise deals with the likes of kellogs? so i suppose if your movie made it that big and kellogs offered you to license your brand name for 50mil dollars you would say no, because, you don't wanna make money with it to make sure you don't get to make another movie. i honestly don't care if a producer makes a billion dollars out of his IP, as long as the product does not suffer from it. in the case of shrek 2 that is probably the case, but apart from that, there are no sequels at the moment, every single piece of animation released is new IP and that means a LOT of creativity in that sector. what is the problem with animé? i like it! the problem is that real feature animated movies take a lot of time and effort to put together (=money). so contrary to regular movies, the boundaries are much higher in the full feature category, but i am sure that there are a load of short film independents just waiting to be discovered. I personnaly really like animé for instance: Ghost In the Shell Ghost In the Shell: Innocence Princess Monoke Steamboy Appleseed Final Fantasy:Spirits Within (liked the style, disappointed by story) Beautifull Day (can't remember the correct name, have it around here somewhere) The point being, that if you really are such a fan of animation, you would know a lot more movies yourself and you would bite the bullet and see shrek 2, because it wasn't all that bad! But the way you wrote about it was just a blah blah piece saying "oh disney doesn't do good independent animation" well guess what they never did!

well i guess we could argue about that one... i don't think that the veiling of women is an expression of a highly homosexual society... but then i guess i could be wrong, i mean look at the catholic church.... there are probably both sides to this

well i suppose they came up with the most intimidating weapon in human history and they called it <little finger rising to lips> the gay bomb... just imagine, what could be any more terrifying then being gay in the army!!!! but if they were going to fight muslims that might have been quite an insight, which i am unwilling to give them credit for!

wtf? if there still is any real creativity in the modern commercial movie market it would have to be in animated movies! what more could you want then a movie that is as funny and challenging to adults as well as children as the incredibles? what about movies like belleville rendevouz? of course shrek 2 was a huge disappointment, but then again one could argue that the first one wasn't such a brilliant movie either. if there is still any part of the big budget movie business where creative people have any influence, apart from burton movies, it's in pixars movies! if you want more interesting animated movies, how about watching movies that are not originally aimed at children! there are interesting and challenging animated movies out there, not finding them in mainstream cinema is hardly a good criteria....(do you wanna blame six-year-olds for an unsophisticated taste in cartoons??? jeez) but the thing about shrek 2 shows just how fucked up this stuff gets as soon as money starts rolling in, that's about all i've got to say about that.

haha, i think i had your desk, yuf! i mean exactly the same one... also from aldi, but we decided to get rid of it(the previous inhabitants of our flat left it), since it is so goddamn ugly! hehe, at the moment i think the pcs they sell at aldi would make my current machine look like an abacus well not really, but you get the idea, i think
-
god! there's aldi in ireland!?
-
well there's a point, from a certain size onwards tfts are really the only viable option! if you want to have a screen with more than 19''+ you have to get either a tft or a new desk! and even for smaller screens tfts do have their advantages, though price is certainly not one of them.

Crap... little help please? FF7 on ps2
lailoken replied to General Fuzzy McBitty's topic in Video Gaming
hm the scope meaning the fact that the story turns to involve the whole world. like in six when the whole world gets destroyed and the game STILL goes on! that was just awesome! -
last movie i saw at the theatres was ong bak, real nice martial arts! apart from that i tend to see more and more movies only after they've been released on dvd... the whole going to see a movie thing is too much of a hassle for me in most cases... the incredibles [die unglaublichen?!?!?wtf?] was pretty awesome, haven't had that much pure fun at the movies in a long time, if ever, probably also because i am a huge fan of those old sixties movies and there were like tons of homage in that one... even music from goldfinger if i am not mistaken! apart from that one can always watch anything by or with takeshi kitano, he rocks my world! so artistic... ...my head is made out of candy... where is the nice man with the bang,bang?... ...also i think knives are a good idea... EDIT: oh yeah and I am pretty excited to see Viktor von Doom finally realized in a life-action movie, though I am afraid that the movie is going to be pretty sucky... (the fantastic four that is)

Why am I the only one who knows how to play Half-Life 2?!

yeah i used to cheat a lot too, but now i think it totally defeats the purpose. if you use cheats you could just as well watch someone else play the game or watch movies! -

I never said that it was crap!! I quite like it! I just don't think it is as good as FF6 (or FF3 US version that is). Yeah I liked a lot of the stuff in FF7, like the great music any time sephiroth appears. but it's been a while since i played it and i only remember getting really pissed off when this friend of mine told me he had found all these great materia stuff and i discovered to get those i would have to play through it again! that's pretty much when i decided that it's just too much effort to play these games and that was pretty much the end of it. after that i discovered a load of other stuff that ticked me off about the games but really i just lost touch with the series after that. EDIT: (to kingz) Yeah but that's kinda what makes em great in my mind! the scope is really awesome... like akira! still an awesome movie. -

yeah I think it's always hard to watch other people play FPS. for me at least it is. something about not being in control myself just gives me headaches... also i think you need the right attitude to fully enjoy a rich environment like HL2. you really need to feel like you're in that world and act accordingly, sometimes also acting out the part you're playing. games can be so much more fun that way. a lot of people miss the point of the journey being the goal... or something... gnaaaaaaarhlsflooooop.... that was fun... again... -
yey! TIMMEY.... well but I am german originally... sorry... Did anybody actually use this link and buy one of those incredible (as in not quite believable) projectors? do they actually work or is it a big hoax?

I agree, I love seeing how a character develops and especially dig non-competitive coop, but I guess I am the exception. (and treesus of course is exceptional anyway )

yeah if i am not mistaken it originates with the introduction of the first jeep to the us army. the guy in the passenger seat would be left with the task of defending the car with his trusted shotgun. from the affirmative "shotgun" also stems the common practice of "calling" shotgun before entering a car, thereby proclaiming the intent to take the passenger seat. :awesome:

sounds like a humorous take on a pretty lousy evening, yuff... your mom SHOULD care more! the cloakroomstuff tho! NICE

damn i had this really nice poem about the end of the world.... anyway if i remember correctly then more than 60 percent of the current global warming is caused (not by industry or cars) but rather by methane! it's shit that is dragging this whole planet down the drain... how ironic
