  1. If graphics could induce orgasms....

Yeah I was aware of the fact that there are procedures for trees, but I meant a whole forest being built on a predefined landscape... simulating the way a real forest "works"
  2. Hi Guys. First Time Poster

    U gotta be kiddin me!
  3. If graphics could induce orgasms....

I would have really liked a lot more of that in WoW as well. I mean more about solving puzzles and getting drawn into the logic of the world. Most of the quests in there to me still seem quite shallow...
  4. If graphics could induce orgasms....

I think you really need to have some kind of program to create woods for you. I imagine that is one heck of a lot of work to do stuff like this by hand. It should be possible to write stuff like that, right?
  5. Where's the DS love?

I don't wanna play an FPS on a handheld! Why would I? THAT is certainly not going to be the huge innovation the DS brings. More intuitive? Ok, that could be! More accessible? BUT IN MY OPINION FPS ARE LOOOONG DEAD! (halflife2 was the crowning achievement of the genre long after it died... it's just not interesting anymore)
  6. Spore

ok let me elaborate on that (gimmick I mean): two examples of monumental game ideas that ended up as mere gimmicks: Black and White which was supposed to be the end all be all of all god-games with this neat idea that you would have this creature as a representation of your personality within the game. As we all know it ended up being a god game with this gimmick that you build this creature and teach it new stuff. Not a bad game but just not what it was supposed to be! Fable which was supposed to be completely open, where you could do anything and the world would just respond to that! And you were supposed to be able to write your own "epic adventure" with that. Well that didn't happen did it? The gimmick here was that for the first time you had a character who could be completely customized by the way you played... wait that sounds a lot like the Black and White gimmick... but it's different since it's an RPG ok? So I am afraid that this ground breaking game is going to make one of its groundbreaking features work really well and because implementing everything would take too much time they will only go part of the way and use what is working so far and make a good but not groundbreaking game out of it that has this gimmick. In general I think trying to do something different for the sake of differentiation is wrong! Yes you should always think about what can be done differently but only if it serves the purpose of the game!
  7. Spore

should be interesting how Wright is going to make the gameplay work. It sounds nice, but it also sounds a lot like a typical Molyneux game concept and in the end it's nothing but a GOOD gimmick game...
  8. Does anyone play Doom or Doom 2 anymore?

I ALWAYS LOVED COOP! but no-one does it anymore... except serious sam...'s or whatever
  9. i want rose online bots or ryl

no way, he chinese made it through big communistic wall using wall-hack!
  10. Where's the DS love?

I guess it's presumptious to start reading eulogies a couple of months into a consoles lifecycle so we will just have to wait and see. I guess we can (or rather should) all agree on the fact that Nintendo did an incredible job putting this thing on the market after less than a year. And obviously there has never been any handheld device like it, so it's going to be interesting to see IF there is going to be a revolution or not. So far some great games have been delivered and I think there actually might be a good chance that the DS and the PSP can coexist along side each other!
  11. The A-Team

I call dibs on Hannibal Smith! yey!
  12. What would you happily murder someone for?

No I think its name was something like JBL something... I don't know... I had the PowerStick from Sega...
  13. Where's the DS love?

The DS has been out here for a week, but nobody seems to be buying it... sorry, I'm going for the PSP...
  14. Seen any good movies lately?

maybe the rock?! I mean, come on, he's in everything these days!
  15. The forgotten topic on Violencia!

I don't think there's any way games can be killed for people killing people, that's just ridiculous. In germany there was this big case where this kid went into school and shot a bunch of people, he was 19. When people found out that he was playing counterstrike this whole wave of public indignation went on. The problem was that the public at large had not even known that counterstrike existed. So their first reaction (understandable to me) was of outrage and shock at a game that goes to some length to simulate the killing of other people. It went as far as going to censure (in germany there is a "censure bureau" with a list)but in the end the counterstrike community sent a few of their players to demonstrate the game to the people at the BPjM (Bundesprüfstelle für jugendgefährdende Schriften=Federal Censure for youth-endangering scripture) and it was decided that the violence was not gratuitous as it was an essential part of the realistic setting but not the real goal of the game to kill people but to successfully interact in a team. In the end it came out that not only had this guy (the shooter) been in gun-club (or whatever you call it) but he also had been able to GET A HOLD OF HIGHPOWERED GUNS! That was the REAL problem. Most people IMHO used to have no idea about computer games and were easily manipulated into thinking there is a connection because politicians use it as a scapegoat. It used to be real easy because computer gaming was such a niche, but ever since the numbers went up, the whole attitude has changed. You can't just fuck with us anymore cuz we got big! The whole shtick with computer games creating more income than movies and all that... nice for once. To me there is no way to shift the responsibility from people to computergames when it comes to killing. I also think that below the age of 12, kids should not be playing violent computer games (if any, but that's another topic). I think parents should know what their kids are up to, should care. As far as violence in the US is concerned I believe that Michael Moore is right for once, about this "fear phenomenon". Gun regulations should be in place, there is no invasion comming anymore, so you can get rid of the guns and give each other a hug! ...and stop blaming computer games for the failure of your society!
  16. Tra la la, what a beautiful day!

Gene Wilder IS great, no discussion... would I want to have his autograph? No! But having someone on the other side of the globe go meet him for you, that is always awesome! But sadly apparently not happening
  17. Seen any good movies lately?

Yeah I liked wonderful day as well, but it was a little too clichéd (however you write that is beyond me)
  18. Seen any good movies lately?

Just watched Constantine yesterday... nice movie visually even though obviously Reeves is all wrong for the lead... But I really digged how some of the design was done... anyway, I don't regret paying money for it so it can't be that bad
  19. What would you happily murder someone for?

Oh and as far as "gaming memorabilia" is concerned there used to be this great arcade stick for the Sega Mega Drive /Genesis that totally kicked as cuz it had micro-switches or something... and looked kick ass if i remember correctly... can't remember the name tho... oh sweet childhood...
  20. Death to the digital canvas

No I totally understood the point about the process too, making art is fullfillment in and of itself. Nothing beats actually playing a cheesy riff with all your heart and soul or realizing a great silly idea in pencil. It's about your body firing up and the adrenaline pumping through your vain and you forgetting life for a little while and being alive...(or maybe I am going off on a tangent here... who cares). Not knowing anything is the human condition, awareness of that is wisdom...
  21. Tra la la, what a beautiful day!

Congratulations and Celebrations... tadada dumda dee da dum da dee da dee....
  22. A Scanner Darkly

As far as Lynch is concerned I really like how uncerebral his movies are. You just sit and enjoy and stop thinking for the duration of the movie. The first time I watched Lost Highway the thought that there must be a coherent "normal" plot to be discovered drove me nuts until I kinda got the whole dream thing... anyway, just sharin... Oh and I loved the way the actors looked like total idiots when they were trying to make sense of their roles in Lost Highway... (Patricia Arquette that is)
  23. Death to the digital canvas

Art is Art those who dwell too much on non-essentials miss the point! (meaning that the medium you use to express yourself is such a non-essential)
  24. What would you happily murder someone for?

I would quite probably kill for a top of the line G5 with the LARGE cinema display from apple to go... G5 linkage Display linkage
  25. i want rose online bots or ryl

two to be precise and it looks a LOT like a guineapig on that one
