  1. What in the world is XNA?

XNA is microsoft's vision of the future, much like Direct X. The idea is to have one development standard (created by microsoft) for all future game development. So developers don't have to limit themselves to one system anymore but can basically create a game base on XNA and it will work on all future systems.

I guess it looks just as good as everybody hoped it would...the amount of work that must have gone into all the different stuff you can do... nice!

thanks, yeah I actually went through the WOW forums and found a link to some other site that has the patch as well. Still terribly disappointed with Blizzard...

  8. General World of Warcraft topic

Right now I am sooo pissed at Blizzard for their "great" patching system. WTF? Those cheap ass bastards make LOADS of money with this game but are too cheap to provide adequate serverpower to guarantee smooth patching for everyone? At least they should make it possible to download the patches outside of their system... those A-holes!

  18. WotW trailer

Yeah but I always end up watching spielberg movies nevertheless... probably does have some great visuals and I usually like his real mainstream stuff... the big problem is that this reminds me of the last spielberg-cruise collaboration *cringe* and minority report was SUCH a waste of time and money... so... who knows, maybe the plot is so simple they end up finishing it without me having to hide from the friends I convinced to give it a try...
  19. NPR's take on World of Warcraft

with realism I mean among others the following: -nothing has a weight, everything is defined by the amount of space it takes up in your bag, meaning either one slot or stackable (5,10,20) -improving your stats only changes your stats, movement for instance is completely unaffected by your stats -wearing different kinds of armor has no effect on you apart from changing your armorrating -birds do not fly but hover above the ground (oh wait there are flying birds but those are only for looking at and cannot be interacted with) -different races do not mean different classes such that in the end you only have 7 different classes (shamans and druids not being the same) -interaction with npcs is not even worth mentioning, as all they do is either give you a quest or provide some service -reading the "background plot" feels like going through a number of hastily assembled clichéd storypieces -the races lack any kind of background (how about a character introduction about who you are when you start off?) Based on all this it comes as little to no surprise that there is no real roleplaying going on, hell everybody is just racing to the next level and the next ultra cool instance dungeon and nobody gives a shit about interaction as the game obviously is all about the leveling. Sorry this ended up being kind of a rant, but you always hate the ones you love, isn't it?
  20. NPR's take on World of Warcraft

Well it certainly does feel to me like the first rush of excitement has worn off and more and more I am disappointed by the shallowness of WoW. In order for Blizzard to make it so accessible for a broad audience they cut a lot of the stuff that was standard in other games, all in favour of a more polished and less intricate experience. But in the end that leaves me with the same sensation as eating at McDonald's. I do like it every once in a while, but it's not good food. More realism and depth to me would have been much appreciated in the game. As it is, I am no longer in love with the monster that is WoW...

  22. Morrowind Help

I beat the game with level 38 after a few weeks. people are always talking about that thing where you join a house and get a castle or something... i could never decide... now there really is better stuff to do than play morrowind (wow?) I even bought the extensions but on going back into the game really didn't care anymore... so I never played those...
  23. Ubisoft 2005-2006 product lineup

Agreed, they should be more carefull with their biggest IP.
