Shouldn't it then be called SoulEdge 2? The fact is, that anybody who is into games should always (for his own sanity) own the most popular console. In this generation and the one before that, it's the Playstation /PS 2. Should be interesting to see how things are going to go come next generation... untill then... (the release for one platform instead of all to me speaks volumes about the dominance that is sony these days)

ok, I don't wanna turn this into a general discussion, just this last bit from me: There used to be and still is stuff that is a lot worse. The problem appears to be that professional journalistic talent, acceptable tv appearance and enthusiasm about games does not as yet seem to go together. I have yet to see a single example of that. Also I don't think gamespot is supposed to be an organ for the more intelligent and opinionated gamers but rather for the broad fan-boy audience. I really don't see the market for a more sophisticated format, but I could be wrong. On the Gamespot thing in general: We should be happy that someone does this stuff. I personally cherish the possibility to hear a designer talk at length about his game. Definitely worth watching. And btw Tim was not that professional in the whole of the interview, did not seem to be at ease and kept on blabbing at times... so yeah, not all as black and white as you guys would like to paint it IMHO. but anyways...

I think there is no US. There is only a number of individuals sharing a passion for "computer games". Some of those might be just as the stereotype says, some might not. I know that I am not like that, but if I did, I wouldn't care. The important thing is to not be ashamed of who you are and what you like. Obviously there would be more important things than games and to a certain extent we are probably the result of pure decadence but I don't think that is a problem. People have been playing games forever. So... I guess what I am saying is that this type of shtick has been going on forever and if you still manage to get worked up about it, it's probably because it sticks

No I haven't being as I am of the european variety, but I think that there is this really strange trend of movies getting ridiculously good casts! To name a few in no particular order Mystic River The Royal Tennenbaums The Life Aquatic Sin City Ocean's Eleven Ocean's Twelve (They could have also called that one Ocean's Dozen but I guess "the People" would have been confused...) amongst many others Is this the new Hollywood trend to invest in such starpower that the success is completely secure simply because of the combined fanbase of the names involved? Movies I saw and liked for no particular reason: :tup:Cellular (surprisingly nice simple movie without any bad moments) :tup:White Chicks (I know, but to me the Wayans Brothers can get away with it) :tup:Once Upon A Time In The West (Had never seen it before and was really blown away by the simplicity and purity of the movie) :tup:Old Boy (great movie all in all if sometimes actually hard to watch in its cruellty but then I guess that is the point) :tmeh:Million Dollar Baby (why make a movie about boxing and then turn it into a story about euthanasia? think it's trying too hard to be significant and should rely more on its strong characters) :tmeh:House Of Flying Daggers (to me they all seem kind of contrived at this point, I still like the idea of having characters plot and martial arts in one movie but this one at times feels like a b-movie, the camera is trying to be good but in a lot of shots simply isn't) :tmeh:Mists of Avalon (yes so it's Marion Zimmer Bradley who to me is a total hack but still some nice moments and for a tv production not bad at all) Actually Mists of Avalon got me thinking about the concept of big tv productions. You can really tell great stories with this kind of thing, but so few people do it. There is this huge gap between Movies and Television, I think the concept has not been sufficiently explored since Lynch did Twin Peeks... Oh yes, to me a movie is always measured at what it is trying to be and wether or not it actually it is able to good at that.

How stupid can you get? Takeing a game like Psychonauts and going "Well it's not the next Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Platformer Revolution" oh yeah, it also features a totally creative aproach to level design and using characterisation in a game... but really, the platforming is just solid... WTF! talk about being fucking jackasses! Kingz is right, they should be put out of their misery. How awefull a life must be where you cannot cherish the brilliance that is Tim Schafer! I love the idea and unless the platforming is substandard... I don't wanna care about the platforming! what does it matter! the game is a pure design VISION!

yeah but the part where their stories are cheap, clichéd and shallow, that isn't part of not taking oneself too seriously, that is just pure ineptitude... totally fails to give the impression of an actual living breathing world

Just saw the new trailer [linkage] and ... I kinda think it is going to suck! The actors are all wrong and the budget seems too low to do a superheroflick any justice. And to be quite honest, I guess I really wouldn't care, since in my humblest of opinions, Fantastic Four isn't such hot IP anyway... if it wasn't for what to me amounts to the Best Supervillain of all times: Viktor van Doom!!! Doom is the best! That guy needs to have his own movie! I totally forgot how great he is! So now I am really pissed off, because, since this is going to blow, the IP is dead and ole Doom won't get another chance! If there's any great Dr. Doom fans out there, please show me the way to get my hands on his greatest moments. I only wish that he wasn't played by "that guy who was soo "great" in "charmed" that he got his own tv series "nip/tuck"" and who, even if he was a great actor just simply could never fit into Viktor's (or is it Victor?) shoes! The whole thing looks fairly halfassed and I guess it's Fantastic Four series' fault for not inspiring some great director into making a better adaptation... but still!!!!

yes I know what you mean... even though I used to be a fan, I realize that there is way more interesting stuff out there (sin city would come to my mind... but not much else ) but VICTOR VON DOOM!!!! is there a more classic villain? I think they should make a movie just about him... and with a really good actor playing the part... his story kind of reminds me of the new batman movie which given christian bale's involvement as well as chris nolan as director, promises to be a good one....

Yes in a "Tim-Taylor-Tool-Time" sense, of course! But then I find nothing scares women as much as the suggestion that one has might like them...
