actually I always thought the controls for the game sucked major ass, but then again I never liked running around 3d environs without a ready mouse at my command

ok so once and for all now! it had been mentioned somewhere that the concept behind dmitri would be that you could actually relive your whole life in the game... notwithstanding the fact that this might not even be the game-concept, the fact that somebody could believe that somebody would make that claim and mean it literally, struck me as quite funny and I thought it would be nice to think about all the stuff that will never be possible to put into a computer game because 1) the complexity of our world is too big to be actually recreated by a developer 2(and more importantly)) they are soooo utterly bizarre that no one in their right mind would think of it! so i hereby declare all the people using this thread and making meaningfull statements about this game as idiots! god! hrmpf

I still have all my LEGO. My nieces love to play with it, though they are nowhere near as inventive as I used to be But I shall always keep my LEGO, it is mine, my own... (you know where this is going...)

yeah thanks This thread was obviously intended totally serious. Which is why I put it under idle banter... I just thought it would be fun to think about the wacky stuff that has been going on in one's life and that can never be reproduced in a game... but nevermind

WOW: Can't believe it runs like this on my old rig...

yeah, that's what is great about a franchise like Tomb Raider, I guess any one of us could dream up really interesting ideas for a tomb raider game. I always thought it would be nice to have better puzzles and characters for such a mainstream game. but I guess they will play it pretty safe, given the risk involved in possibly ruining a name like this (that would be where they would be wrong). I mean that is what they will probably be thinking. By now I think they really need to take risks for this baby to fly...

exactly! all the stuff we are talking about here is essentially pointless, since we don't no shit about the game to begin with! and again I might point out that fable is not a molyneux game but merely something lionhead took under its wing during their whole "satelite thing". the scope for fable was huge and that's essentially why it ended up being such a big disappointment. that's what you get when you start out with slightly naive ideas about the possibilities of games. in the end, they (little blue box, or whatever the name of the development team is) had to face the problem that producing the game they had set out to make would have taken way too much work and money! so molyneux stepped in and made sure that there actually would be a game at all. so in the end fable is one BIG compromise. as far as dmitri is concerned, I am merely sceptical about the scope of the game, as it appears to be too vague a concept to realize. but they will probably find a focus, if it really is going to be done.

yeah I feel the same way, Molyneux has developed into this rolling ball of hyperbole (which should indicate he belongs in southern california?!) I guess this is a remnant from what shall henceforth be known as "Pete's Years of Pure Hyperbole" (or PYPHy in short) since he has taken a vow of "shut the fuck up already" since someone seems to have explained to him that he is a discredit onto his own public persona... whatever...argh

well you could call it an ineffectual explenation. so southern california is the home of hyperbole? I guess I always knew... -

yeah and as far as the production values are concerned, you gotta cut these guys some slack! They obviously were really nervous and still managed to do a decent job. In the end what they really lack is experience. I like the format and the idea that it's all about games and not about stupid off-topic "look what my dog did the other day" stuff. I remember, a few years back, public television in germany made this attempt to do a games-show (one out of MANY...) and they had this real professional TV presenter who was dressed up to be really 1337 and was moving way too fast and trying all the time to be funny and whacky it made your head spin. He obviously didn't know anything about games and it felt like some weird summer-camp puppet-theater showing... so yeah it could be A LOT worse... lil taste? "wow! ok, that was a little sceen from the latest Command and Conquer which looks to be ultrafresh and I CAN'T WAIT TO GET MY HANDS ON THAT ONE!!!" (imagine that whole thing with one of those awfull telemarketing voices... and him moving around the frame about 200 times during that senctence, also he has hair styled to resemble a joystick...) -
how endearing... (<- gotta love that word!)

I totally LOVE this site and need to share my enthusiasm with other people... probably old news, but still... [linkage]

Ah ok, sorry, I obviously must have misinterpreted the name of this thread... gross yuffi, REAL gross, they could be your grandparents for christ's sake (or should I say for jewtopia's sake?)
-
chances are your mom sold them for horrendous amounts of cash on ebay and uses the money to run a pyramid telemarketing something scheme and eventually take over the world

yeah and the fucking site crashed my Firefox™! The scoundrel *shaking fist to heavens in disbelief* EDIT: Completely unrelated to this, I find it ever-reassuring that we are ALL going to die eventually...

yeah man, but they're Duran Duran, they make the Rolling Stones look old... ok not really, but still, ... they're fucking old!
-
Yeah I am not sure if it is still the case, but I think I recall some kind of copy protection (and if memory serves me right, it was Sony in that case as well) that would actually crash your Mac to the point where it would no longer be possible to boot your machine! I believe there were cases where people just had to send in their computers or reinstall from scratch... and they got away with it by simply stating on the packaging, that it wouldn't play on either Mac or PC... In germany there was a small uproar because of this and they ended up discontinueing this copy protection scheme. Also, funny thing is, most CDs with current copy protection no longer adhere to the standards set up in 1989 or whenever that was, that defined the compact disc (CD) as we know it. essentially those can no longer be labeled as CDs...

yey! sony fucks up again...hahaha they just don't get the whole mp3 age thing oh and ... yeah, the creative zen whatever is surely among the most popular players... gogo linux! I still have the aphex twin album (drugz) which I can't listen to on my ipod, cuz it's copyprotected... this friend of mine ripped it using linux and gave it to me... but it's in ogg vorbis format... hahaha, this stuff makes you feel like woody allen... Oh we need a Woody Allen icon! everybody in favor say Aye! Aye!
-
someone might argue that there are certain elements to some frequent players in this game that might suggest a Shore-esque character...
-
Hahahaha, this is fucking ridiculous. I guess the first amendment allows idiots to do anything, right? Nazi.org... racial purity? fucking hilarious! btw. stuff that is as blatantly pro-nationalsozialistisch would be plain forbidden in germany... but I guess it's ok for the guys who went to such enormous lenghts and sacrifice to get rid of the greatest warcriminal in human history (sorry stalin, maybe next time) to piss on the great achievement that was the destruction of the third reich... fucking hilarious! EDIT: so there is a right-wing movement beyond george w. bush! somehow I find that reassuring...

yeah, I can totally see tom "the greatest generation" brokaw doing gamespot news *goes away laughing so loud a few houses actually crumble to the ground in his wake* -
god, I loved ascendancy!! but I bet the sequel is going to be way more complicated than the original. I was totally behind on the whole thing back then, a friend told me about this really old game that he still had lying around... and it was awesome... good times!

try recording it through the in-line of your computer from a standalone cd player or through an optical line (if available) from a dvd player. then you can still encode it. this is exactly the kind of shtick we legal mp3 users are bothered with all the time, but you also have the right to return the disc to your dealer... at least in germany...
