Battlestar Galactica season2 - anyone watching?
Duncan replied to Marek's topic in Movies & Television
I just got round to seeing Resistance, and yeah, it was definitely an 'on' episode. The sports team stuff was a little and the ending was a bit suspicious... but everything else was good. I guess the uneventfulness of the first two episodes was a necessary evil to get to this point, though I wish it'd been handled a little better. Also, do you guys only watch the space shows or something? ¬ -
And I guess just for the sake of completeness, here's the Japanese one.

No, not the movie actually. Does anyone know how high an airplane is generally supposed to be above the ground? I don't even care what type of airplane. This is maybe something I should know but I realised today I have no fucking idea. I need to know this for something so please help me out. ¬

Marek, you're like a flight attendant telling me how to fly a plane! Alright, thanks, guys!

It's at a couple of places now... try here or here.

Battlestar Galactica season2 - anyone watching?

Well that episode was a bit better I thought. -
I really fail to understand this 90's gameplay thing. Or that since Psychonauts is one of those "original" games it should have totally reinvented platforming, like Gamespot alluded to in their review. Also I loved KotOR but I don't think the two are really that comparable in terms of design goals.

Yeah, that Cylon thing is pretty absurd. I have noticed that they're slowly moving away from using the characters' callsigns as their actual names; I think they're more often referred to as Lee or Kara or Sharon now. As the show goes on it seems to be moving further and further away from the original. -

I'm watching, and I do like it. I've never seen the original (like Marek, I have zero interest in it) but it does feel like a totally separate show than what you'd expect from Battlestar Galactica, which is good. I'm not sure what holdover elements from the 70s version Marek is referring to, I actually think the new show's done a pretty outstanding job of escaping all the cheesiness and stigma of the original. Not to say that I love everything about it; the 'prophecy' angle is just a little overplayed and the 'gritty military camaderie' shtick seems a bit forced. I like more than I dislike, though, I'm just trying to balance it out. ¬ ¬ Marek is right on with the strong sense of continuity - the scenes on Caprica, the most 'serial' bit of the show, were my favourite parts of the first season by far. Rodi - you're talking about the miniseries, right? That was basically the precursor to the actual series. I actually didn't like the miniseries very much, I can't even remember why, but I do remember that in the show proper they fixed everything I didn't like. But since you liked the miniseries, you probably have nothing to worry about. Just saying it does get a lot better from there. I don't know if Marek saw the season premiere or not, but I should talk about it within spoiler tags regardless, I suppose: -
That seems pretty out there but I guess you never know. A DS game could be neat but then I would be thrilled if Double Fine were simply making a game.

I started a news post about this before you posted... however, you beat me. I obligingly concede defeat.

I'm told that The World Is Mine, but I really wish that it wasn't. Hilariously, these are described by gamesradar.com as 'cutting edge': what Not totally related, but also: ...?!

Renewed for 2005-2006 season = not getting cancelled.

Here's an unfortunately broad question: what's Wonderfalls like? It's never aired here, and considering it had like four episodes in the US before being shelved, it probably never will be. I've only heard good (yet inspecific) things, though, so I was thinking about getting the whole thing on DVD. I'm hesitant for obvious reasons. I know all the basics of the show, and it doesn't sound immediately appealing, but that doesn't really mean anything. So what makes it good? You think it's worth getting? Whoa, sorry to put you on the spot like that. I am pretty encouraged by the fact that you like it.

Arrested Development's already been renewed for a third season...
-
There aren't any "unfinished episodes".
-
Maybe Rockstar cut it because it looks ridiculous...
-
I should probably get this in now: happy birthday Alex!

There is so much great stuff in that first season. The second season, a little less so.
