From here: Ascendancy II will take the same fundamental principles of galactic exploration and encounter that Logic Factory pursued with the original, and modernize and translate them to work in a persistent online multiplayer universe. Anyone else vaguely terrified?

Neat! Such a cool game, although... all that dinging... dinging... dinging...
-
If only to purge the horrible taint. Right? :/

Tehanu, and The Other Wind are not bad either. I find it a literary catastrophe of epic proportions that kids might read Harry Potter as their first fantasy story instead of the Earthsea books.

Ursula K. Le Guin didn't think much of the miniseries either; and since she wrote the books I am inclined to agree with her. Because I live in Australia and am lazy I haven't yet seen this travesty, but I think I will spare my fond childhood memories a trampling and give it a miss. Fucking television bastards.

I get sick of that one, so once I get some decent gear I try and get some kind of status ASAP.

"Can I do anything for you archmaster?" Yes, actually; take some of the lads and go and clear those bloody Telvanni out of the nearby Chimeri tower and set up an outpost there to stop them coming back. Oh, and block that new Hlaalu monopoly that is being tabled in the Council. That sort of thing would be neat. I wonder how complex it would be to mod in... :>

I get the impression that they -still- released Morrowind a bit to early. Just looking at some of the neat stuff people have modded seems to imply that the engine could have been pushed a bit further. That being said, if you have tried out the Bloodmoon stuff you can see -some- effects of your actions on the world. Personally I would have really liked to have been able to become more involved in House politics, and dramatically effect the political landscape of the island. Here's hoping for Oblivion!

Who said "The Prisoner"? :/

He's not obese, he's just big boned... uh... I mean, hideously mutated.

Cheat? Morrowind has a powerful editor, just determine the variable responsible for your criminal status and use the console to alter it. It beats the hell out of starting again. In future try to be a stealthier thief/murderer/rogue-bed-user...

The.. what? The guy who wears masks and performs moving sagas of misery and betrayal? Weird. :|

Games no one knows (but are awesome or at least pretty good)

King of Dragon Pass I think this game is neat, but I have become a bit of a Glorantha fan so I am likely biased. It's kind of turn-based stratgegy/story-telling with some pretty still artwork. It also has some pretty neat ideas involved in it. I think it is really worth the time investment if you are into magical pseudo-Bronze Age clan, tribe, and kingdom building. The music is pretty good too. Official website, with a "tour" King of Dragon Pass at Home of the Underdogs -
Games everyone hates (but are really great!)

Yup yup, StarLancer was pretty neat. -
Yes! Every son-of-a-bitch I knew at university thought this game was the best thing ever and I thought it was a hideous unplayable morass.

A pox on Real Time Build Queue Management games I say! A pox! I found basically every fighting game to be over-rated, with the possible exception of Bushido Blade. Those Kings Quest games were kinda crap too, but as a sad Ultima nerd I think I am required by the traditions of my people to think that.

And what did they do with that universe, I wonder?
-
Who -doesn't-? I mean, other than "everybody"?

Perhaps a parade of alien landscapes, each stranger than the next all tied together with the common flavour of the intrusive Combine aesthetic? It'd be neat to creep around weird alien urban environments I reckon; toss alien vending machines around, take cover behind alien playground equipment - that kind of thing.

I wonder if G-Man might not be a 'handler' for some kind of cosmic "deniable assets" organisation with mercenary inclinations. Breen mentions in one of his propaganda broadcasts to the Overwatch forces that Freeman is a theoretical physicist, and doesn't have any military training, and also that he has been somewhere where he would not have been able to get any. IIRC Breen also says something about "Getting you first, next time"? Admittedly, I was a bit spaced out while playing the Citadel levels though...

Ah well, get yourself a Golden Saint's soul and an exquisite amulet and a who sack of cash and make a permanent invisibility item for cruising around in the Ashlands. Alternatively, install one of the plugins that removes the Cliff Racers.

Bear. (I will now not talk about the mighty 12th ComGuard division and their trouncing of clan Ghost Bear at Tukayyid, to the relief of many)
