Rockstar Table Tennis: Website, trailer
General Fuzzy McBitty replied to Spaff's topic in Video Gaming
Usually any new thing that Rockstar comes up with ends up in GTA. I'm trying to figure out if this is an exception. -
So far I like it. I'm just a little sad about the fact that they included a "multiple paths" interface without actually giving you multiple paths. It doesn't matter that you took the time to hide, because the same thing happens to you no matter what. I'm really enjoying the story so far, but I expected a bit more in the way of puzzles. I like to pick up items. So far there were a few really annoying scenes where I had to "go fetch the item" run it back. "Go someplace" oh no, back track... OH! now go back to where you just were!" Those were the moments where I feel the gameplay is suffering. I can handle it being a story on rails... but don't bore me. Hell, I started playing adventure games because they feel like books that I can interact with. On a side note, do we still have spoiler tags? I don't remember how to use the bloody things.

Also, everyone has really creepy eyes. I haven't finished yet, so I'm not going in the spoilers thread.

I was just trying to clear hard drive space... is Half Life two connected to CS:S or is CS:S connected to steam? Basically, can I uninstall HL2 and still keep CS:S?

My Best Buy still doesn't have it, but I went to Target to buy some soap and they had one copy... so I bought it.

Sony: "We're arrogant and powerful! Fear us!"

PS3 for £425 in the UK; "Bargain" say Sony
General Fuzzy McBitty replied to Ben's topic in Video Gaming
The real question is whether Next Gen DVD players will take hold yet. The current format is still fine for most users. I somewhat wonder whether they're bringing this out too early. -
http://www.gamepro.com/news.cfm?article_id=55708 Microsoft on the Wii, as well as a punch at Sony: "Even the announcement about adding movement to their controller seems like their attempt to address what Nintendo is doing. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me, especially when you remove rumble. How can you remove force feedback from a general purpose controller?"

I'd love to see Nintendo build an ad around some of these quotes.

There is nothing like having both of the major alternatives saying, "DUDE! THEIR CONSOLE IS GOING TO BE F*#^ing GREAT!!!!" Also, that was a good spin on his part. He avoided the actual question in favorable of the less damaging Nintendo praise.

Anyone know of a way to get objects to respawn? I stole all of the good china off the Duke of Somethings table months ago. The food is just sitting on the table... and no one ever resets it. These people can't live without china forever!

I had to buy a new graphics card. It was worth it though.

Meh. I always get my GTA games in the later PC release. I like to add new cars and guns.

I think that both the PS3 and to a slightly lesser extent the Xbox 360 suffer from the problem of being too costly. I think that if I asked my mother for 4-600 dollars for a game console, it would result in the "are you stupid?" look. When you think about it, I mean really think about how much money 400-600 dollars is.... it's a good amount of freaking money. Consoles went from costing 100 dollars to costing 200 dollars. I see buying the "lower level" version of either console as not an option, simply because you're missing out on a lot that way. In effect, we skipped the $300 dollar bracket. (Remember, I just said, I'm not even thinking about the "core systems.") We jumped right up to the 400 dollar range. Sony jumped to the 600 dollar range. The most disturbing part of it, to me, is that we haven't even tapped the full potential of the current generation. One of my friends has always said, "I will never pay more than $250 for a console. If I want to spend $600, I'll just build a new computer." I think that Sony is too large of a company to be completely ruined if the PS3 fails. The idea is still slightly worrying. What if the console proves to not be profitable purely because of its insane cost? Would they abandon it for something else, leaving the poor bastards who actually bought one stuck with a 600 dollar machine that isn't supported? What would happen? I know a few people that are considering buying a PS3. These are people who are interested in games that are part of a series, and wish to continue playing them. Even so, these people are currently saying, "I'll wait a year for the price to come down." If everyone does that, it could be problematic.

I'm still not sure I'm sold on the whole episode thing. In the right hands you get a good deal for your money, but as this takes off with other companies, we could end up paying more money for less game over time. Rather than buy one game for 40-60 bucks, we'll end up paying 4-6 payments of 14.99.

I wouldn't mind a PS3, but it is sad that they ripped off Nintendo. It really makes me sad that they ripped it off so half assidly. Anyhow, I still think that the only console I could afford (and thus the only one that matters) is the Re... Wii. So far it looks like the only way I'll end up with a PS3 is if someone tells my girlfriend that there is a Kingdom Hearts III. Questions: Why do you need a 60 gig hard drive? Is the 20 gig sufficient? How gimped is it? What the hell happend to my Bat-arang controller!? If Sony won't let me be Batman, what good are they?!

For starters, the interactable items blend in with the background, making it difficult to know hot to proceed at some points. Then there's the ending, which seemed to me to go entirely agianst the main character's previous pattern of behavior.

I have a similar problem. I just got my refund check, and wonder if I should treat myself to Dreamfall or Oblivion. Another confession: I don't think I've every played an Elderscrolls game.

First Revolution game revealed... it's an FPS!
General Fuzzy McBitty replied to Oath's topic in Video Gaming
I have a hard time using 2-sticks in fps. I always end up trying to move both sticks at once and getting a silly camera angle. I hadn't thought about the movement issue, and really I think we're going to have to wait and see. Speculation is somewhat useless until we see actual gameplay. We don't know, for example, to what extend the game actually uses the motion features. Other than the bulleted features that they chose to tell us about, it's difficult to understand. I have faith that most people will be able to use it well and enjoy it. (As most people enjoy dual sticks.) I've never been let down by Nintendo. (Then again, I turn a blind eye to [and didn't buy] the Virtua Boy.) -
First Revolution game revealed... it's an FPS!
General Fuzzy McBitty replied to Oath's topic in Video Gaming
I don't think it's anything to get worked up about. It's hard to know what, if anything, about that trailer represents actual gameplay. It could even be some guy beating up an invulnerable NPC. I wouldn't go to crazy until I saw some SCREENS, or some VIDEO. Don't fall play to the generation Y (Or are we on Z now?) youth marketing. The "hey this is so cool we don't have to show it to you" thing doesn't work for me. I'm glad that Nintendo is embracing more FPS. I'm not a big fan of the commonplace, but maybe they can shine the traditional. I want to play Mario, but sometimes, I want to get into a sword fight. One thing that the Game Cube got flack for was being a "kid's toy." It had some GREAT games, but some people look down on Nintendo games because of the content. I've always loved their worlds, and had fun with their games. At the same time, I'd like to see Nintendo games with more "mature" themes. As long as they keep providing their traditional games, and create new games with their tradition of excellance, their isn't a big deal. As always, if you don't like a particular game, you don't have to buy it. I will say again, however, that I think that judging Nintendo as a company, or any game by a commercial that doesn't show game play, is silly. I see it as showing possibilities. It COULD be the game that we're talking about, but it could also be a crime game (god, I hope not) or even a slasher style horror game, where you play the psyco (also, god, I hope not.) Hell, they showed the guy using the controller to pee, and I very much doubt that there is a game in developement right now that uses it. (However, if Nintendo got the bid for the latest Postal title, it could solve all of our problems with the commerical at once.) Edit: I really wasn't paying that much attention when I was watching it.... I'm a moron. -
So far, I've had fun with this one, but it lacks some of the elements that I liked in the first one. The gameplay itself is good, I just think it'd take less time to write what I don't like rather than what I do. (probably more later) 1. The "grab" function sucks. Last time when you went to jump on a box, Sora would pull himself up. (In fact, it was almost too hard to get him to NOT do it.) This time around, it doesn't work well, and you have to jump at ledges multiple times. 2. *Spoiler* In some cases, the writers don't seem to have completed the first game. In Olympus, Phil said something to me along the lines of, "Maybe you could beat Hades, stranger things have happened." I was like... F* you dude, I beat the crap out of him last time. 3. So far there are none of the little disney "stand in a circle around the mark" things. Maybe they thought they shouldn't reuse that, but they've reused a good number of characters, so why not that concept? These things made for a good amount of post game content that I fear this one may not have. (*Spoiler* In KH I there were several "Super Bosses" that you could play if you unlocked special side quests.) 4. The need to use the tri-angle button so often, in order to beat the bosses. I don't know why, but it seems so far away from the attack button. The redesign of the gummy ship fighting is great. It looks and feels a good deal more polished, and a lot less than like a sweet shop vomited on the universe.

Psssst. Too much. Too much. I don't think he's buying it...

I got the Sims 2 when it came out, and was mildly amused for a while. Now they've already released 3 add ons. Normally, I'd ignore these. My main problem is that in many cases you can tell in the original game where people were thinking "ooo, and here we can add this, this, and this. When I look at the features in the add on, I find myself thinking... wow... that's cool, but why wasn't it in the original? I just wondered if I'm being realistic, or if I'm hard on the Sims because of my negitive feelings towards EA.

Now that Fuzzy is married, the robots randomly attack him and his wife. At one point several of the Sims had conflicting feelings, ie: Friend-Crush-Enemy-Married
