  1. Somebody donate me a PS2

But the whole thing is fucking pointless. The people who are importing games are the same people who'll just mod the damn console anyhow.
  2. Somebody donate me a PS2

Is everyone getting rid of the region horse shit this time around, or are we still stuck with it?
  3. Excellent Wii video on .... IGN

Ok, gang, here we are: (Edited so the link works) The REAL deal on Spore for Wii/DS, straight from EA As you all know, today has been a pretty big day for Wii info. There is all sorts of info coming from many sources. Last night it seemed to be kicked off by IGN’s Wii Mailbag feature, which said that Spore for the Wii had been confirmed. We were all left scratching our heads, wondering when the confirmation happened! Then the next morning we come to find out that UK Magazine NGamer had the same information, as well as some DS talk. I think many of us were surpised as to all this info popping up, with not a word from EA! If you were up in the early morning hours, you saw that I was hunting all around to find out where IGN got its info, plus confirm the NGamer stories as actually being printed. A busy morning indeed! Well that all has changed now, no more need for hunting! I was lucky enough to get an official statement from EA on the topic of Spore on Wii and DS. Check it out below. “Right now we’re 100% focused on finishing SPORE on the PC and PC only. Though we’re investigating the possibilities of bringing the franchise to other platforms in the future, any announcements or confirmations for the Wii or any other platform would be premature.” There you go, the official word from EA. As to the IGN Wii Mailbag and NGamer info, I cannot explain how those came about. I am going to trust EA’s word on Spore…seeing that they are the publisher! EA also promised to keep me in the loop with any future announcements concerning Spore on Nintendo platforms…so once it becomes official (if it does) we will know! Huge thanks to the team at EA for providing me with the official statement. This refutes the original claim in another artical that I read. Sorry that I was wrong.
  4. Excellent Wii video on .... IGN

Actually, I read somewhere that it will be conectable, and that Spore is comming to Wii with DS compatibility ... let me go see if I can find the artical.

  7. Can the PS3 save Sony?

Didn't the 360 release in the US with similar numbers?
  8. Vivendi re-releases Quest games

Space Quest, Police Quest, Kings Quest and Leasure Suit Larry will all be re- released in sets ranging from 20-25 dollars depending on where you look. This is supposed to happen on the 15th of this month.
  9. Vivendi re-releases Quest games

I have the original Quest for Glory anthology. I hope to god that if they ever re-release it they do more clean up work on QG 4....some of the errors make it damn near unplayable. I hope that these sell well... it may incent certain other companies to re-release classic adventure games.

  11. Somebody donate me a PS2

    Was there no UK release?
  12. Somebody donate me a PS2

What do you need 3-4 PS2s for? Are you building some sort of weird game console time machine?
  13. Somebody donate me a PS2

I just assumed that this would degenerate horribly, and the first person to PM her about giving her a PS2 for any sort of picture would end up with said PM being quickly posted on the board for all to see. Hilarity would then result, and said person would be mocked.

  15. Can the PS3 save Sony?

It just seemed that Wired's look at the Sony Corporation was a very limited one.
  16. Can the PS3 save Sony?

I think that the bottom line is that Sony is a huge company. It is far bigger than just games and music. Blu Ray might be enough to "kill" Sony, but I don't believe that PS3 will. It could happen, but is unlikely. The PS3 would have to fail so horribly that the stock holders of all of the Sony companies got nervous enough to sell their stocks. (Sometimes the failure of one company rubs off, and this happens. It's VERY unlikely though.) In the event that this happend, its competitors would try to buy the stocks in an attempt to gain a majority. I can't stress how super-dooper-insanely unlikely this is, but I guess it could happen. The PS 3 could start a chain reaction though. They've invested so much in Blu Ray that if the failure of the PS3 somehow made the Blu Ray format look bad, it could damage the overall strategy that they've been using. The PS3 has been all about getting Blu Ray into homes. To make people who may have a DVD player in their car, laptop, pc, portable dvd players ect... swtich to a format that requires a large HD tv to notice a difference, they have to be very convincing. They probably would have been better off waiting to do Blu Ray with PS 4, but there are a good number of risks that would have come with that. (Right now they have brand recognition with the PS systems as #1... who knows what 4 years would do.) Many people bought PS2 as a cheap DVD player. DVD was the "big thing" at the time, and there were many reasons that people chose to switch to this format. I'm not sure that we've been show much of a reasoning as to why Blu Ray is something to spend our money on. I certainly won't be getting one, because aside from my giant DVD collection, I don't have the money for a largish HD TV.
  17. On Stranger Tides

Several months back I read that one of the things that heavily influanced Monkey Island was a book by Tim Powers called On Stranger Tides. I wanted to read a Piratey book... so I ordered it from Amazon. (Good timeing too, they JUST re-released it. I thought it was quite good, so I thought I'd mention it.
  18. What do you think will happen in the middle east?

Odd... when I go to the forum, I don't get that one. Anyhow, I think that Israel is going to take more of Palestine. Palestine's refusal to accept Israel as a nation, and their ignoring of the cease fire has gone on for too long. The main problem with the U.S. in Iraq is that there's really nothing to "win." We can't pull out, because it is possible that their government would collapse, and we can't "win," because we're fighting ideas as much as people.
  19. On Stranger Tides

It's around 20 bucks. It's a larger paper back. It's a bit expensive for a paperback, but you could easily spend that on a DVD, and a book lasts longer. Here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1930235321/sr=8-2/qid=1152800230/ref=pd_bbs_2/102-3788709-8125744?ie=UTF8
  20. On Stranger Tides

It's actually historical fiction. THe crux of the story is that a former Puppeteer is forced into being a pirate. He ends up sailing with Black Beard, who is trying to use Voodoo to make himself immortal.
  21. anime

If you are a pervert, pick up Desert Punk.
  22. Recent movies: Pirates, A Scanner Darkly, The Matador...

There were a few good monkey island ref's. My favorite was: Also, there is a review at http://askaninja.com that is funny as hell. It reviews the movie very poorly, but it's tounge in cheek.
  23. Dreamfall discussion *spoilers*

I felt that it was too short. I very much doubt that I could go through the original again, knowing the answers to most of the puzzles, in the amount of time that I finished Dreamfall.
  24. Back to the Future

the best part was that you could create a paradox where you see yourself in the past and kill yourself.
  25. Back to the Future

Actually, all three Back to the Future games were made into games for the NES. They weren't horrbile... but they weren't the movies that they were supposed to represent.
