  1. Sony: Nintendo to lose core audiance

  2. Sony: Nintendo to lose core audiance

The price is still too great. My girlfriend has said that if Kingdom Hearts III comes out on the PS3, she will want it, but $400+ is too much to justify the expense. I would argue, however, that the internet buzz was the reason why Katamari and Guitar Hero became so popular, and that the age group for game consoles is the one that uses the internet the most.
  3. Sony: Nintendo to lose core audiance

The last hand held I owned was a Linx. I'm a new market, and I want one.
  4. Important confession

My ring tone is Morbo singing Funky Town... I should mention that I realize that this is totally off topic, and that I just felt like saying that.
  5. Sony: Nintendo to lose core audiance

I think that he's saying that EVENTUALLY the PSP will sell more units, because the PSP somehow creates a new audiance.... but i can't really understand him while his head is rammed up his ass.
  6. good PS2 games (for free...uh, me)

Depends on when it breaks. My first one broke in the first 30 days, so it was replaced for free. Since then I haven't had a problem. *Knocks on wood*
  7. The Wii's Launch

I think that they'd lose a good amount of credibility if they didn't release the NGC version. Imagine having something on pre-order for more than a year and a half, being told that it's finished, but they're waiting to release it with a new console, then being told that you're SOL and you need to buy the new console. That would suck. There are benefits of the realease. 1, it's a sure fire holiday sale. Not everyone will be able to get a Wii at launch. (I'm not even sure that I can budget one that close to Xmas.) Some people are still skeptical and waiting to see how it does. Others couldn't find anything appealing in the launch list. (Seriously, I can't see my GF playing most of those. She usually likes Non-Zelda RPGs.... the fact that Link doesn't talk pisses her off.)
  8. Blu Ray and HD DVD on one disk.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14908291/ Someone made a disk that will play in both types of players.
  9. usb batteries useful for wiimote?

A battery charger for AAs costs $20 (U.S.) for what appears to be a decent one on Amazon. Considering the amount of batteries that some of us probably go through, the cost of the more expensive batteries is worth it.
  10. The Wii's Launch

I do sort of wonder if they're not going to try to space all of the first party games that people really want over the entirety of 2007. I started losing the faith when I heard that they were holding the Game Cube version of Zelda for an extra month in order to give the Wii a boost at launch. Some poor bastards pre-ordered it over a year ago. It seems like an assholeish thing to do to them, especially since they were the people that wanted the game the most.
  11. The Wii's Launch

European launch, fighting for the few consoles they get at amazon, same thing, right? Think about it though.... 200,000 (or was it 300?) at launch? I'd love to see the "caught on tape" for when those stores open. We've had charity laptop days at public libraries turn into riots.
  12. The Wii's Launch

You can get region free DVD players though. Regions keep people from ordering from other places to take advantage of cheaper prices. Of course, they also stop people from ordering neat Japanese games.
  13. The Wii's Launch

It's interesting to not that according to the wiifanboy blog, the Wii was offered as preorder on amazon for one day, then it ended because they ran out. This makes me sad, because I found out about the pre-order too late. Also, the description on amazon is misleading: Completely backward compatible, all the way to the NES of the 1980s It's not really backwards compatible. Yes, it plays old games, but it doesn't play my old NES cartriges.
  14. The Wii's Launch

True... I don't know... it just seemed too scripted for my tastes. I didn't really feel like I was discovering anything, so much as following a lighted path. To each his own though.
  15. The Wii's Launch

Is there some sort of dongle that I can buy to make one of the ports in my non-WiFi router be WiFi, or would I have to buy a new router? I live in an Apartment building, so wired seemed the way to go when I bought it, and I really don't want a whole new router.
  16. The Wii's Launch

I just assumed you could Disconnect connect 24 anyway.
  17. The Wii's Launch

I just wondered, has there ever been a Nintendo console that was buggy at launch (a la PS2) ? My gf is going in half way with me on the Wii, and wondered if we should wait "until the bugs are worked out." I told her that Nintendo had no bugs. Did I lie?
  18. The Wii's Launch

Maybe the journals in that were less about raw infromation, and had more interesting things in them. After a few "OMG! SAMUS IS COOL!" messages, and a few "THE SECURITY GRID IS ALMOST ONLINE! IF ONLY WE COULD DO X" ... it felt very on rails to me. I could see playing a game or two like that... but I'm not sure that I would be interested in playing another, and I only played #2.
  19. The Wii's Launch

I got Prime 2 a few weeks ago, but it didn't really grab me. I think that in order for an FPS to get my attention it needs more character interaction. Just reading about what needs to be done in some dead guy's journal isn't enough for me.
  20. The Wii's Launch

actually... scratch that. It's wrong. Nintendowiifanboy.com
  21. The Wii's Launch

I just read a wired artical that explained this. 1st party (Nintendo) games are not going to be region locked. It is left to the 3rd party to decide whether they want to region lock their games. They may or may not choose to do so. Edited to clerify: Basically I think there's a bit of a programming flag on the disk. It's kind of like your mail box. They can choose whether to flip the flag up or down.
  22. The Wii's Launch

Since the Wii has GC-style control ports, and the game was designed on both systems, it stands to reason that it'd have both control schemes. Though that might be too easy, and I could be horribly wrong.
  23. The Wii's Launch

Also, it looks like the people who pre-ordered Zelda on Game Cube are getting screwed, because the Wii verson is comming out first. (I have a friend who pre-ordered Zelda on her birthday LAST YEAR. Come on Nintendo, give those poor bastards their game. Lord knows they've waited long enough.)
  24. The Wii's Launch

Looks like they picke Opera for their web browser. I'm going to be buying a AA charger and some rechargables for the Wii-mote. I wish that getting a new Wii-mote with Wii-chuck was less than 60 bucks.
  25. The Wii's Launch

I still think it's great that you get a game with the system.
