  1. Android Games

The thing is, my iPod Touch is dying and I need a replacement, my cell phone provider has a point reward system in which I could trade in for a new phone. I don't want to turn this thread into "Which phone should I get?", if you want to give me advice, it's better to PM me, but it looks like the more recognizable ones are Xperia and Samsung Galaxy (Ace or Mini?). The main reason I wanted a Kindle Fire is for reading books or comics on it. The Nexus does look better than the Fire HD, but I don't think the Nexus phone is in list of phone I can trade in my points for. It's the recent Humble Bundle that reminded me that maybe I should get an Android, hopefully I can get one before the bundle expires.
  2. Android Games

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but it very likely that I'll have an Android in my future and there is something I need to know. Are Android apps universal and tied to one account or tied to a machine? I might try to get a Kindle Fire later and I'd hate to have to buy something twice.
  3. General Video Game Deals Thread

Well, it looks like had forgotten that I already had one of the GTA IV expansions, so I'm not going to buy it just for the Ballad of Gay Tony. On a side note, there is a new Humble Bundle and a new Indie Royale.
  4. General Video Game Deals Thread

Well, "Can you play it?" says I pay the test with flying colors, but I heard you have to downgrade the game to mod it? Which kinda sucks. I assume I can't play the expansions with the downgraded version, right?
  5. General Video Game Deals Thread

Steam has GTA IV Complete for sale, I no longer own the game and I never played the expansions. Is it worth it buy it just for that? Also, everybody on Steam is saying they ran out of codes but it's still on sale? :|
  6. Lost progress

I was just playing Deadlight the other day and the game crashed. I only lost a few checkpoints, but it upset me so much I actually felt like quitting. I'm pretty sure if I ever lost a lot of real progress I'd either just quit and watch a walkthrough unless I really loved the game. It is a thing that only relates to game, if you lose you place in a book or movie you can advance to where you lost your place, games will never let you do that.... unless it's an older game with a level skip code.

Wow.... I'd never thought I'd type these words, but I have to admit that finally a game scared me, not in the jump scare way, not in the "the sound are imagery is unsettling" way, but for the first time ever, I'm scared in the "Um, can I leave the lights on, mummy? Oh, that thing in my room suddenly looks scary. I'mma gonna cover it up!" way... this is coming from the guy who think the critters in Amnesia are cute. The name of the game? .... Dark Fall: The Journal an old Macromedia Flash first person adventure game. Why? It was GODDAMN subtle! No jump scares, you just think you hear or see something, but you never get a confirmation. It did have a goody painting growl at me which really ruined the mood for a while, but.... Listen I have the sequel ready to play and.... I kinda don't want to, that's how much it scared me. No game has done this to me before.... (PS: I really hope this isn't because "mah belleh" is filled with crappy Halloween candy. )

Wow, Tony Tough was awesome. I knew is was an older game, but it's actually an Italian adventure game from the late 90's and I just love the pixel art and detail... Since it was originally in Italian I think some jokes were lost in translation, but it's was pretty good. My only complaint is that the game get very moon logic-y at the end and you're practically forced to use a walkthrough. Sheesh, and people complain about the honey cat stach puzzle?
  9. Remember that game was a total rip-off of Super Mario Bros. for the Amiga and C64 but was still pretty cool? Remember the iOS and DS game they made recently? Well, apparently the team is making a new game and it's looking pretty badass. It's got Chris Hülsbeck and Machinae Supremacy doing music for it, which is pretty epic. And the concept looks great too, when you switch from normal Giana to "punk" Giana the world changes and so do your powers. Unfortunately, it looks like they won't make it, they have about a week to go and they are still at two thirds of their goal.
  10. Steam Greenlight

I don't know about the others, but as for me I just don't get how this system works. We can't tell how well a game is doing, we don't know if the "down vote" button really down votes or ignores a game. I don't know how the voting really works, that's all.
  11. Steam Greenlight

The next Steam Greenlight game is... Postal 2.... What?! I don't like the idea of people using Greenlight for non-indie games, but older games that probably existed when Steam did, but for some reason didn't get on Steam, (A.K.A. GOG games). I also don't get Steam Greenlight.
  12. To tell the truth, I didn't like the GTA series games up until the last one, so I was worried about RCR since it's an 8-bit GTA like game. But I giggled and cheered like a fool as I run over the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and I'm mowing down pedestrian like I've never done before... Yay? And my biggest worry about this game is whether it would be a true love letter to 80's gaming or pandering. I believe it's a true love letter to old school gaming. Many of the details I've seen feel sincere and don't yell in my face "THIS IS REFERENCE! LOVE ME!" like other games do. I've only played a little, but it looks like most missions are parodies or other games, but they seem to add some of the mechanics of the game they parody. Is anybody else playing it or interested in this?
  13. Retro City Rampage: A love letter to 80's gaming.

My Steam profile says 14 hours, but that seems a bit long. Sometimes I leave the game paused while I'm out so I think 7-9 sounds more accurate, probably even less.

Wait, does that mean that header image changed and I never noticed... When did it happen? With the new forums?
  15. New Forums! Post feedback, notes, etc here

    Hurricane Sandy related I presume?
  16. General Video Game Deals Thread

Dot Emu has a Halloween sale that is still going on, it has quite a few adventure games in it, one of it, Tony Tough and the Night of the Roasted Moths is exclusive to this site.
  17. Tokyo Jungle

Yeah, that's one of the sadder story missions. Some are sad, some are hilarious, some are bit frustrating, but they are all a bit crazy. Just wait till you get to the mission where a pack of predators is oddly familiar. I always unlocked a new animal in survival mode and used that one to unlock the next story level to keep things balanced.
  18. Just go down when you get the dragon, it shouldn't take long.
  19. Disney buys Lucasfilm

You guys speculate like dairy farmers.

I beat Closure a game that once a flash game and now is a full game, you can tell since it sometimes feels like they are stretching the games' gimmick a bit. The games gimmick is that the world only exists while it's bathed in light, which included obstacles. Oddly enough, the "worst" part for me was the first world, it seems out of place compared to creepiness of the other worlds. I also beat the Sleeping Dogs Halloween DLC, which is just like the Red Dead Redemption one, only cheaper and shorter. The whole world is possessed by ghost and the streets is infested by Jiang Shi, Chinese undead creatures, it's a handful of short missions that I beat in less than two hours, but it felt just right for the price. EDIT: I just found out the DLC is almost twice as expensive now for some reason... I wouldn't recommend it at it's current price.
  21. Disney buys Lucasfilm

    Oh... also:
  22. Disney buys Lucasfilm

The last thing Lucasfilms did before being bought by Disney was license Angry Birds Star Wars... There is no way Disney could do worse. This probably bad news for Dark Horse, since they do the Star Wars comics... It's likely to be transferred to Marvel? Also....
  23. Tokyo Jungle

Don't worry, you'll have to fully investigate the map anyway to get all the data sticks for story mode.
  24. General Video Game Deals Thread

The Fear series is not that scary to me, but it's a pretty good shooter anyway. The AI was good, but I wouldn't know if it was praise worthy, it never caught me off guard me?

I'm pretty sure most of the money goes to the "Adventure Game Maker Preservation Foundation". They need out help, most end up mad, babbling about "honey cat staches" or dying of hunger because they couldn't open their fridge door because they couldn't get the monkey to tap dance for the yak wizard or some terrible rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle accident.... or eaten by a Grue.... Grue is the name they gave to their cat that they forgot to feed for over two weeks. I am totally going to buy Lucius even though I know it will eventually be cheaper and probably Deadlight too, because Halloween? PS: I saw the movie that came with the Groupees bundle and.... it's so bad it's good? Ah, karo syrup gore, I've missed you so much! :3
