Sam & Max Hit the Road's attractions are real?
Tanukitsune replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
I'm so jealous, we don't have that kind of culture. At best, each county has it's speciality, in Toledo you can buy cool swords, in Astorga you can get "mantecadas" and we have a lot of castles. The "weirdest" things we have in my country that I've experienced is the museum of chocolate and the museum of "Jamón", which is more restaurant than museum. Also, I am so going to dive into that site you linked to, youmeyou, it looks awesome! -
Sam & Max Hit the Road's attractions are real?

Whoa, Snuckey's was kinda real too? Jesus, America is a crazy amazing place! Is it bad that I kinda want to visit them now that I know I can? -
Dang, how dated? Does it feel like playing an old Siera game with better graphics?
-
Argh, I haven't played this one as much, but it has a lot more un-winnable states, I think you can mess up even in the first room! Not to mention this game has money and you can get stuck if you run out of it.
-
Yeah, I've played the game to death... I might not remember what each key is for, but more or less where there are keys? Kinda?
-
O.K. here are some less suble spoiler clues: - - -Those were on the package you missed... forget about the first clue then on concentrate on Bernard, Wendy can no longer help "get an ending", so you need Bernard's path

Goddamit, I'm sick of every game trying to appeal the COD players... But at the same time, I'm glad it sounds like I'll hate it, because now I have even less reasons to get the X-Bone. Couldn't they just have a bigger time limit and more yet still limited save points for "normal mode"?

Which one has a podcast? To me funding a comic or a book makes sense since it's more likely to be finished and finished sooner, not to mention that getting it digitally is just more convenient. The shipping would cost more than the item itself, but games? Nope, unless it's something I'm ridiculously invested in, why pay and wait when I can get it on Steam or Gog when it comes out? I'll miss out on some exclusive stuff, sure, but it's usually not worth the extra money to me, my brain just sees it as if I'm paying 50$ for a "exclusive digital hat thingie". Speaking of Kickstarters, the Leisure Suit Larry game just appeared on Steam, but having played every version ever of that game, I can wait. I'm pretty sure Idle Thumbs, Broken Age and the Jane Jensen one will be the only ones I'm willing to invest more than 20$ on... I don't think I'll even fund Massive Chalice.

I'll give some "spoiler-hints":
-
Ahhh, Animal Crossing was released later in Europe, so it makes sense that I can't do that yet. I think today is my 14th day? I'll see if I can get the option today. EDIT: I did and HOLY @#$% I made so much money at the island in one trip I already had enough to pay for it in ONE DAY! YES!
-
Oh man, that's brilliant! I can't wait to get that, is anybody sure how to unlock it now?
-
Wait, wait, how did you make that Nintendo exhibit at the museum? Is it something you can get with an upgrade or what?
-
Yeah, I'm pretty sure you are more than halfway through the game, you have Bernard and the novelist, right? Yep, that's a good combination of characters to have,
-
Seeing that it's funded, I'm going to skip this one until it's done, I'm kinda fed up of all the projects I kickstarted and almost none of them are done yet, not even the comic ones.
-
Where did you get the batteries? Is this the only set you have? I could swear there was two?
-
I beat Evoland and.... it's ridiculous pandering... Sure it has the "game evolution" gimmick, but it's been done before and you're never gonna guess the names of the characters in the game! The heroes are Clink and Kareith and the bad guy is Zepyrhos! You'll NEVER guess what Zephyros does to Kaerith! But seriously, this game tries to pay homage but it just copies, half of the enemies are Nintendo enemies with one letter changed and the bosses are just variations of FF or Zelda bosses. I facepalmed so hard when Zephyros killed my party with a Kamehameha.... At least try to be little subtle, OK? The worst of it being a Zelda and FF "inspired game" is that it's not both at the same time, it's only one at a time... except for that Diablo level. You can have a hundred potion or spells, but you can't use them in Link mode and you can't use Links weapons in Cloud mode
-
I'm not even going to but a spoiler on this one... how much have you explored of the outside of the mansion?
-
HUZZAH! Not only did I unlock the QR code thingie and searched for a Sailor Moon costume, but I finally caught the rarest fish in the game! <3 I finally did the rare bug thing on the island, it does pay more per trip, it's more fun, but it takes more? *shrugs*

I can make 100.000 per island trip doing the fruit thing in the diving mini-game and I just payed my latest loan, but when do they end? I now know that's it's totally optional, but now Tom is saying I can expand a bit for each side of the main room? I was going to fully expand the house before starting with the mayoral stuff, but at this rate, I guess I should just split my daily earnings between both. :| Well, I was also waiting because I wanted to buy the museum shop, but it just won't appear as an option yet!

Yeah, you can waste a lot of items, but there are also a lot of red herrings. I will tell you something important, except for Dave each character has a skill, except for Dave, which means each character has it's own way of beating the game and some rooms are useless if you don't have a certain character. As for time limits, the package can be ignored if you have the right characters, or you could just leave a character outside until it's there. As for the other time limits, the game directly tells you about them in their own way. You can only die by ignoring these time limits or in mostly obvious ways, but you can still win as long as you have a character left. As for wasted items, yes, the pain thinner is one of them, while game warns you when you messed up, it sometimes does not when some items "run out". I'll give you some hints in spoilers for your notes.
-
Hmm, should we give him hints about actual fail states? I think the game usually warns you about the ones that can kill you, except for the very obvious one you should know will get you in trouble.
-
I think this is more about being predictable that spoiling themselves, like how you know these statues will attack the moment you open this chest or how you know some other sort of trap will trigger the moment you do something else. Speaking of which, I can the situation you talk about "lazy locked arenas", because the game is too lazy for level design and just locks you in a room and throws enemies at you until you're bored or dead.
-
Yeah, the paint thinner can be wasted pretty easily, as for the captured friends, I'll give you two hints, because there are two ways of getting out, one is pretty obvious, how do you escape a place with a locked door? The other way to escape is to pixel hunt, something usual in older games, you will find something.... suspicious in the cell. Have you ever heard of the Universal Hint System? They have hints for a ton of older adventure games and they don't spoil it, they tend to point out thing you are likely to have forgotten and they can be very subtle.

Don't pick Jeff! He sucks! I also remember that there is a reference from Maniac Mansion in Day of the Tentacle, it references a certain thing you can only do with a certain character that is censored in the NES version. Is it version 1.0 or 2.0?
-
You can't get it digitally legally, so you can only get the PC disquette version or the NES version (if you have a NES), it was on C64 too, but I assume you don't have one. You can also search for Lucasarts Classics Adventures or like it's been said before, it's hidden in Day of the Tentacle. You can buy a USB disquette drive relatively easily, just be careful to buy the 3.5" disquette version of the game and not the 5.25" ones, those are nightmare to get running.
