  1. Books, books, books...

I just finished Castle Roogna, the third novel from Piers Anthony and well, it was as sexist as the previous two, but it wasn't as good in other aspects. There was barely any wordplay and the story wasn't that great. It was rather disturbing that a twelve year old trapped in an adults body almost had sex with a harpy, and frankly it kinda annoys me how a kid that just hit puberty is not acting like a teenager at all. Is it ironic that in every Xanth book I've encountered the male protagonist wanted to bone every female creature he met, and the most hormonal one is the most chaste one? So yeah, it didn't piss me off, but it also seemed more tame and less interesting... I don't know if I'll ever get the next Xanth novels or not.
  2. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

Oh, I beat him alright, I just reached a ladder that lead me the last bonfire, that's where I left off. I'm just worried I might have enough spells for the next area.
  3. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

But what about the spells? I might be a stone throw away from a spell vendor, but I'm pretty worried now.
  4. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

That's why I cheated, making me so ridiculously strong the game become MUCH shorter. (Or was that the Princess one? I know I beat both but I'm not sure if I cheated on both on them. *shrugs*)
  5. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I finally started to play the game because it's the only thing left in my backlog... Yeah, I was putting it off for obvious reasons... ¬_¬U It's not as hard as Demon's Souls so far... but I do feel a bit worried since I choose the sorcerer and I have a limited spell use. To beat the minotaur boss I simply ran and didn't kill any enemies to have enough spells to kill it. Since I've only invested in a magic build, once I'm out of spell I'm kinda screwed. Can you teleport between campfires like in Demon's Souls? I have an item to teleport me to the bonfire, but only the the last one used.
  6. Books, books, books...

I just finished a story about a teenage detective called Shirley Link... She's about as bad as Poirot and I hate her. Can I call out how stupid it is to know where someone has been and what they have done by simple stain or cut? It's one thing to gather clues and cross reference them to get a solution, but whenever a detective does the whole "I know where you were by the mud in your boots" thing I want to scream, specially since all they do is look at it. They don't even smell or touch it... just one look at they can pinpoint the exact point where this mud if from, because we all know that mud, greases stains and other cliche evidence are like fingerprints and are unique, there is no way that two places could have the same type of mud, right? I'm sorry, but smug detectives really push my buttons, specially when they try too hard to sound smart. Edit: Oooh, I also finished Yahtzee's Jam, it's was pretty great, I didn't think a book about killer jam could be this good!
  7. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I know I'm not the only one who bought the Daedalic Humble Bundle, but I'm pretty sure I'm the first to play the Shakespeare games... They are HORRID! I've played hidden object games, and frankly, this is more adventure game than hidden object game, but it's just dreadful... It's just a bunch of shoehorned filler puzzles between scenes. Every sections seems to be: -Find a specific item. -Oops, you need a specific item to get that item, for reasons! -Repeat ad nauseum... And the best part the game? The game based on Romeo & Juliet kinda skips the balcony scene! Well you do have to a bunch of stupid things to reach it, but they don't say the words you expect them to say. The very next section is what made me quit, an abbot made me do some childish filler trials to prove that Romeo loves Juliet, the puzzles were so basic and made no sense for them to exist except as filler. What are a light beam puzzle and a water jug puzzle doing in a monastery in plain sight? How does this prove anything than I'm either smart or stubborn?
  8. Learning Languages from Games

I completely forgot that I learned to read hiragana from Mario Paint...
  9. Nondescript Adventure Gaming Topique

I "finished" I Have No Mouth in a sense... I followed a walkthrough to the letter and somehow I was missing essential items at the final section. I think you maybe only get them if you max out their "goodness"? Since I didn't know where I messed up, I just looked up the final section on YouTube. This game is as heartless and ruthless as AM himself and just proves to me that if the game is old and NOT from Lucasarts, use a walkthrough for every step, you'll still mess up somehow, because old games are supposed to be broken hard and logic and fair play is for sane people pussies... I'm so glad the next game I played was a "whimsical" tale of a postapocalyptic world where a couple of roaches go in search for a flower and the dead end is practically extinct and games have a hint system to counter their own moon logic. I'm slightly curious to play Daedalic's hidden object games that came with the same bundle that the roach game did, they've evolved so much they are practically adventure games by now. I haven't played one in years, so who knows how they are now!
  10. Recently completed video games

Yeah, I just beat Journey of a Roach and I agree with ElMuerte, it's a charming game, but it's only worth getting with the current bundle. It's like Bad Mojo, only cuter... And I have to point out that not only does it have the obligatory Lucasarts reference, you literally have to point it out to continue in the game. Oh, and Harvery makes a cameo too, I guess all Daedalic games do that now... You'd think it would be Rufus since he's the more popular character, but I guess Harvey is more of a mascot to them. *shrugs* I also beat Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and it was awesome, I'm not sure if the stealth can even work in this game, it's just to fun to slice everything to piece to even try. It's kinda dumb and stupid... in the fun way a Metal Gear game should be. It's hilariously that they made up a whole backstory for Raiden, just to have an excuse for a "power up"... I don't know what to think of the George kid that appears in middle of the game.... why does he need subtitles? He speaks with a thick accent and a bit of jargon, but he's pretty understable. Was it supposed to be funny? It kinda feels racist, but I might be reading into it too much.
  11. This video was just released yesterday, so you really didn't "miss it", the Game Theory is still a pretty interesting show and I recommend watching them all.
  12. Happy Birthday!

    Happy Birthday, Tegan! ( ・∀・)っ┌iiii┐
  13. Licenses That Demand A Game

I'm pretty sure eventually everything will have it's own LEGO game and I kinda want it to happen. I wouldn't mind having an on rails shooter based on Killer Klowns from Outer Space in the House of the Dead style.
  14. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

So... they messed up Joker's face, won't let Batwoman get married and if memory serves me well in the latest reboot Starfire is sex craved maniac... And didn't Batman and Catwoman have wild sex on a roof recently and this somehow upset the fans? And this is from memory, I don't even dare to Google news about DC...
  15. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

My interest in DC peaked with the recent Scribblenauts game, it's database is amazing! Of course, every comic character I find interesting either doesn't have their own comic or doesn't exist digitally... DC has Danny the Street, a sentient transvestite street that can teleport and create it's own stores and everything there is pink and frilly. When can I move in? I had no idea they had so many Green Lantern Corps, and amongst them they have... a sentient chicken pox virus and a whole sentient planet. Also Zoo Crew! PS: I heard about that Batwoman story... it was so sad... Come to think of it, I've heard a lot of bad thing from DC lately, which is why I'm so weary to buy any. :|

I may have completed Tale of Tales latest game? You never know with them... You fly down a deep corridor "rubbing" it, while hearing innuendos and the game chastises you if you finish the level too quickly... I wonder what this game could symbolize? But seriously, I think I need an adult.
  17. A little game told me so

Until I played the latest expansion of Civ V, it never really hit me how much power religion can have over the world
  18. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

I'm more or less a DC newbie except for the cartoons and Comixology has a DC Batman sale, does anything here look good?
  19. Two books

Are "omnibuses" allowed? I'd look into that. Maybe the "Areas of my Expertise", "More" and "All" of John Hodgeman are fun if you can get the collected edition.
  20. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

Maybe it's because Double Fine did it first and by the time Broken Sword did it, we understood it better and got why it had to be done? Or maybe DF has more rabid fans? Frankly, I don't care at all about the Broken Sword thing... If I even buy it, it will be when it's on sale anyway.
  21. Recently completed video games

I just completed Captain Morgane and the Golden Turtle, which is from the people who made So Blonde and.... Steve Ince worked on this? Apparently he worked on So Blonde too, but the "dumb adventure game character" didn't work at all in this case... The Beavis and Butthead games use their stupidity to justify the puzzles and it works, but anyway, Captain Morgane works... specially compared to So Blonde. It felt kinda forced that she was never really a captain, just an acting captain under her father's supervision, but they did work the angle of her being recognized as a valuable member crew well enough. Puzzle wise it was pretty decent, it was very Lucasarty in the way in that people give you hints in the "I heard X item does this" and soon you'll need that item for something similar. It was weird how the game chooses at random when it's OK to steal an item and when you have to ask permission, she is a pirate after all. This is point where I'd complain how the desperately references classic adventure games in a very blatant way, but it didn't make any adventure references at all that I noticed, it referenced a lot of other things and pretty subtlely, which is a vast improvement since the last game. You would see a sponge in a cleaning cart that you would have to look at closely to realize that it's wearing square pants.... But the game won't point it out and Morgane will mention that the plant in the pot that looks like a green pipe has teeth, but that's about it. There are a lot of sci-fi references and some seemed out of place, but still, they were not blatant. It's no game of the year, but it's improved leaps and bounds over So Blonde, in almost every aspect. Speaking of So Blonde, they had a character based on Sunny Blonde, which reminded me a bit of the whole John Greene thing in DR: Off The Record, she seemed to exist for the sole reason that Morgane could mention how much she hates dumb blondes and "Sunny" seems to be almost mentally challenged... While admitting your last game had flaws, it makes me feel really uncomfortable when the game creators go out of their way to ridicule it, it feels like pandering in a very disturbed way.
  22. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

It's at Comixology too. Frankly, I can't think of any comic that would fit that theme, would American Elf count? He didn't really have a family at the beginning, did he?
  23. Home Gone: The 9th Guest of the 12th Hour

Does anybody know anything from Trilobyte games that isn't the 7th Guest? They made Tender, Loving Care, infamous for it's cheesy acting and Clandestiny, which is just the 7th Guest with cartoons and an Irish setting. Frankly, I don't care enough about this series to fund it... if it makes I'll buy it on sale and that's about it...
  24. PlayStation+

You really can't redeem them on your PS3? I could redeem my Vita games before I had a Vita. Dang, I didn't think they'd be giving away PS4 games from the start, I might have to save for one earlier than I thought.
  25. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

Apparently it got Greenlighted, I have only seen clips of the anime like I said before, and I assume that's the only reason it got Greenlighted, and boy are they going to be disappointed when they play it.
