  1. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

It seems like Comixology is one step closer to being the Steam of digital comics since it now has daily deals, today you can get an Adventure Time Graphic novel at a CRAZY cheap price!

Almost every game ever in two words: You win. Anyway, I know I said I "beat" Age of Empires III, but now I've actually done the campaign. All I did was use cheats to summed a giant busts of "George Crushington" and lay waste to everything... I'm not ashamed, it was was fun and glorious! "Check in your wallet. That's me on the dollar bill." I'm sorry, but if any strategy game has a broken unit like this that can only be accessed through cheats and is this gloriously silly... Screw the gameplay, that's ALL I'll use! The plot was so-so, it touches on some important historical moments but it's mostly about the fountain of youth. I certainly didn't expect to help Simon Bolivar, that's for sure.

I just played a quick game of Age of Empires III, it had the perfect "difficulty setting" for me... sandbox mode, where people would leave me alone unless I attacked them first. I couldn't figure out where to build cannons, but I just created a bunch of my best cavalry unit and they worked like a charm! It's just like II but in colonial America and you barely evolve that much... I'm not sure which version I like best, I think II HD was easier to understand, but III has "missions" instead of relics, which are more interesting.

If they can be played on easy too I might give at least one of the campaigns a go.

When I bought Age of Empires II HD, I thought I had made a mistake.... The closest thing in strategy I like are the Civ games and yet... I saw what was similar to it in this game and enjoyed it! Sure, I like Civ better since I can take my people from the "almost stone age" to modern times, while Age of Empires is only from Dark Ages to... less Dark Ages? I just built my town and only cared about upgrading it, I put it on easy since I'm not here to fight and was delighted to find out that in the end, I didn't even have to fight if I built a Wonder. I wonder if I should bother to try the actual campaign, but I don't think they'll be much "upgrading" in those scenarios. Anyway, I still like Civ better, but I did really enjoy the "skirmish" I had. I wonder if there are other game like these two were I can just play on easy and be left alone to create and nurture my people?
  6. General Video Game Deals Thread

Hmm, it says the sale ends on the 3rd of January, but like elmuerte said individual sales say they end on the 2nd, now I'm really confused. I hope they make the "finale sale" obvious and that's when I'll get everything I want. XP
  7. General Video Game Deals Thread

Yeah, but Steam sales don't end on midnight, I guess the finale will be on the 3rd, but it's possible the "best of" could start that day? Since it doesn't specify the hour it confused me last time. :|
  8. General Video Game Deals Thread

So does anybody know if tomorrow is the last day to get all the deals or the day after that? I know I'm not the only one who got confused by the fall sale and missed out on a few thing because of this. :|
  9. General Video Game Deals Thread

I depends on how big my backlog is, how interested I am in the game, how much I've spent that month. If I really want a game and it's not too expensive, I will pay full price. If it's a game I'm mildly interested in, I'll wait. I still haven't bought Telltale's Fables game and Walking Dead season 2 just came out and I would have bought them if it weren't the constant sale-pocalypses and Nintendo releasing all the good games more or less at once. So... I guess not? It's the Steam-pocalypse, I'm already going to buy a ton of games, so I better just get the ones that have a big discount that I care about. Broken Sword is fairly priced, but like I said, STEAM-POCALYPSE!
  10. General Video Game Deals Thread

You can probably blame it on EA's Origin, is EA releasing anything on Steam at all? I know ME 3 and Sim City aren't on it, that's for sure.
  11. General Video Game Deals Thread

"Ok" and "Fine" to me translates to "33% off is not enough".
  12. General Video Game Deals Thread

Yeah, I was wondering about Broken Sword 5 too, a lot of people Kickstarted it, but nobody seems to saying much about it. I think it's on sale on PSN too? You can get both episodes on Vita for 18€.

I beat Long Live the Queen, which is like Princess Maker only with more political intrigue and assassination attempts. All you have to do is survive one year and you'll be queen of the realm, except some people are trying to assassinate you, some are trying to take over your country and you suck enough, they might be a revolt... The political and intrigue aspects are interesting, but you also can get married, but frankly, you barely get to know anything about your suitors. The suitor I choose didn't even have portrait, that's how unimportant he was! I died a few times a long the way, but it seems that if you stick to a "path", you only need to study certain subjects to succeed, also your moor will influence how hard you study in each subject. For example, if you are angry you'll do better at training with weapons.
  14. iOS Gaming

I was going to ask about Device 6 and Year Walk, but seeing how much people are talking about Device 6 that's one down, so does anybody vouch for Year Walk?
  15. The Last of Us

Yeah, I avoided them too, I'm so glad there were avoidable, because it sucks to fight them... XP

I think I'm just getting sick of AAA games and shooting people in the face... Anyway, I just beat Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons and... Wow, is it too late to call this my game of the year? The fact the ending still made me emotional even though Giant Bomb spoiled it to me this very morning must give some brownie points! I felt more scared, tense and emotional playing this game that during the whole of the Last of Us, of course, the fact that you don't have to stop every five minutes to shoot someone in the face helps a lot. This game feels more "fable" than all Fable games combined. I kinda breezed through the game up until the end where it was very un-intuitive for a sec and I loved every moment of it, every sequence felt right, neither too thin or too padded. I only wonder about one thing....
  17. Unepic

Voice acting? That's new... I got it in a bundle ages ago.
  18. Steam Trading Card

Yeah, I'm pretty the Idle Thumbs podcast mentioned something about bots in the Steam market place in the Xmas podblast.

I finally beat The Last of Us and... frankly, I don't see what's all the fuss about it. It's far from a bad game, but GOTY.cx material? Apart from the story, the only enjoyable parts where the clickers and the clicker to bandit ratio is so overwhelmingly big I feel a bit ripped off in this aspect. As for my grievances with the game: Also Lee/Clementine did it better than Joel/Ellie.
  21. The Last of Us

    Update:
  22. The Last of Us

I think there are four stages, the runners are the first, I don't know why the ones in between are called but they are halfway through the transformation and can still see, clickers and I'm not sure if you've met the fourth stage of the infected. Since I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to fight through a room with 50 bandits with heavy armor and heavy weaponry, if anything I'd rather it be "easier" or at least less enemies. The only time it was fun was when I when through a basement filled with clickers and a bloater with no runners to ruin the experience. Come to think of it, one of the reason the combat bothers me is that it tries to be a survival horror the same way Dead Space is, by limiting the ammo you can carry in a ridiculous way. How can you even carry only seven bullets of one gun? By the way, when I say a game feels AAA it's not a compliment, I usually mean that the game has been artificially lengthened to ridiculous lengths, because AAA gamers demand longer games. The AAA games are filled with busy work just to make the game longer or sometimes, like in The Last of Us, each time you reach your goal they trick you and you realize you have to "start over" again. The thins is, I don't mind most of the things that much, but AAA do it SOOOO much, that it does start to bother me. Image a Batman game where all you had to do was stop the Joker's scheme with some antidote and every villain in Gotham stole it from each other just to... oh wait, that actually happened. :|
  23. The Last of Us

Right now : The arrows break way too often, they SUCK! This game feels too "AAA-ish", too much filler, too much of a wild goose chase, just how many times will they tell us the voyage will end when we reach "X" only to say "OOPS! Everybody is dead here! Move along!". I'm really peeved, it's seems I spend HOURS killing boring thugs and only get to deal with clikcers for five minutes before I have to kill humans again. I hate fighting humans, putting the game on anything higher than easy would just make it more tedious. Then again, I wouldn't mind fighting harder humans if the game didn't feel so long... Sigh, I'm really getting sick of AAA games.
  24. General Video Game Deals Thread

-Unless you want to play it before the Google-BigDog-Pocalypse, buy it ASAP, because money will be worthless after the downfall of mankind... Or until it's 75% off, that's sounds pretty fair.
  25. The Last of Us

I feel so awkward saying this, but I don't really see the fuss about The Last of Us so far... Ellie is the most interesting part, but she doesn't work as well as Walking's Dead Clementine in the sense of getting emotionally attached to her. Most enemies ignore her so I never feel like I'm protecting her and I also don't sense an arc of "in the end, she'll be the one protecting you" or you'll see her grow. So far, it's Uncharted with Zombies Clickers, and after getting through a house full of bandits, which was awful, I REALLY don't see why this game is regarded so highly. I feel like either I didn't really understand the stealth mechanics and I really don't enjoy the combat.... everything is still a bullet sponge... I'm playing on Easy and humans are surviving a shotgun at point black range sometimes. The arrows don't work half as well as in other "arrow games", specially since they bloody arc. I'm sorry, but seeing this guy's strength it's BS that the arrows so little range, even my spaghetti arms could do better. :| I mean, I don't think it's a bad game, I just don't see why everybody is saying it's GOTY.cx material. The game gets extra annoying when you have a partner since quite a few times they've shot people I was stealth killing, ruining everything I had planned. It's pretty though....
