  1. Walking Dead Season the Second

Well, it's good to see Clementine surviving on her own, but yeah... I pretty much expect every choice to be "wrong" in the same way the previous season was... except now we know how it works better, so it's slightly less effective.
  2. anime

Man, I can't remember the last time I watched an anime film/OVA, do they have them on Crunchyroll or Hulu? I kinda rewatched Fruits Basket and by kinda I mean I'm not sure if I ever finished the manga or anime when it originally came out. It's still pretty charming, although I really didn't like the overly dramatic ending that came out of nowhere...
  3. Recently completed video games

Would you recommend it to someone who has missed the last few seasons?

Jacob Jones and The Bigfoot Mystery is pretty much a Layton clone, although not that well planned out puzzle wise, the puzzles feel forced and it's very annoying to see people constantly asking for a solution they can't find, but they somehow know you did it perfectly later After playing Tearaway the paper aesthetics of the backgrounds seem pretty much lazy and jarring since the characters are in a different style. At least it's was less than a dollar? I'm not sure .detuned counts as a game it more like a demo like Lingering in the Shadows, only more disturbing and trippy? If you added a "horror filter" to this game it would be more disturbing that many horror games. You can give a guy an elephant head and make him shake Jacob's Ladder/Silent Hill Style. Oh, I also beat the latest Walking Dead episode, but I already talked about that in the appropriate thread.
  5. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I've quit "EAT THEM!", it's a game about monsters destroying cities, so I should love it, but they had to "AAA" it (a.k.a. adding filler because gamers would rather have a terrible long game than a good short one)... They added RACE levels... in a game about monsters destroying cities. Another thing that really sucks about this game is that the only way to get decent monster parts is to get silver and gold metal ratings... which you already need to get these ratings. To make things worse, the game does not explain what each part does, sure they tell you if it does more damage, but each part has it own move set and you won't know what the part does until you make a monster and play a level with it. it's repetitive, frustrating, doesn't explain itself and longer than it needs to be... You're better off playing Rampage, ANY version of it.
  6. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

Man, I wish I had this mod when I replayed this game a few years ago.
  7. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

ComiXology has a super deal of 100 comics for 10$! They are from the "Sumbit" section and there are plenty of good ones in this. This offer ends tomorrow so act now if you see anything you like!
  8. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

Man, I shudder to think of Zeus dealing with the tank controls... It's it's only drawback. :|
  9. Walking Dead Season the Second

So is Xmas Duck more than a Gone Home homage or do they actually use them in America?
  10. anime

I finally caught up with Kill la Kill and.... Either way, I hope the show ends soon, I feel like it's been teasing the finale for several episodes and yet... when an anime show doesn't end around episode 13 in ends around episode 25-26, I don't think my heart can take that many episodes if they keep ramping it up with each episode. Also, is it me or is this show all about a mom trying to control what her teenage daughters wear?
  11. Who are Your Favorite Video Game Reviewers/Critics?

I have posted on this thread yet, so this post seems appropriate... Lazy Game Reviews are pretty rad:
  12. Books, books, books...

While it does seem to be more logical to use endnotes instead of footnotes because they happen every page in these kind of books, the fact I have to do it so many times per pages makes me just give up, specially since most of these end notes are just referencing source material. But when it's something that's further explained, I think a footnote is needed. Why not have them both? Only one in twenty "endnotes" in this book would have been footnotes, if not less, so it would have less daunting and cumbersome than to see a footnote at every page. You wouldn't even to change much, if you see a "footnote number" and it's not on the page, it should be obvious then that it's a endnote referencing source material. Like I said, I just gave up on looking up the endnote, since they almost always reference some source materials, if not the same one on a different page. (Today I learned what Ibid means)
  13. Books, books, books...

I'm reading the "Ideas: A History of Thought and Invention, from Fire to Freud" that was recommended by a thread here and while I find it amazingly interesting, I hate the "wall of text" formatting. The fact that there are no space between paragraphs and that these paragraphs can almost go on for a whole page do make it hard to read, at least for me that is. This book needs some serious editing, the simple fact that to read a footnote you hate to hunt it down at the end of the book, pretty much shows this was written by a scholar, not a writer. I'm just glad I find the subject interesting enough to put up with this formatting.
  14. anime

Huh, you'd think Manyū Hiken-chō, the anime Ninja Squirrel recommended because of the stupid "magical breast sword techniques" would be more "terribad-funny"? It's just O.K. Yeah, so the main girl has the power of stealing people's breasts and taking them as her own and the world considers breasts such a symbol status that you will simply not succeed at anything if you don't have breasts... and yet... it's still not as dumb as High School of the Dead. Manyu "Ninja Boobs" wasn't meant to taken seriously, it's an action comedy... High School Of The Dead is hilarious because it refuses to admit it's Love Hina with zombies and take itself way too seriously, which is why it's funnier to me. *shrugs*.
  15. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I give up on Unepic, I beat the pre-Steam version, and only started to play it while waited for some card drops... only to enjoy it enough to continue until almost the end. This isn't even the final area and EVERY enemy causes status ailment that are a chore to remove, most of the time you can only reduce the damage done... BUT IT STACKS, so you can have 5 poison ailments at the same time, which will make you die too quickly before you have time to drink a potion or use a spell to heal. The worst is that the don't even have the same "alignment" in the whole area, so you can be prepared for for a frost knight only to have a fire helmet attack you from behind... Did I mention this dungeon introduces an enemy that turns your weapons into toy hammers and the only way to undo this is with "100 divine favors", which you get from killing the undead, which don't even live in this area. I don't know what I did in the last game, but I'm not willing to put up with all these annoyances for a misogynist jerk of a hero. :|
  16. anime

Well, Princess Jellyfish was pretty awesome too! It's a shame it practically ignored the secondary characters. I barely noticed Jiji's presence at all! Tsukimi is bloody adorable, and pretty similar to Sunako in their tolerance to "radiant" people. This show also had open ending, but it's pretty much implied what would happen later, so it's still pretty satisfying. I expected it to be more dramatic... Have you noticed how both this and The Wallflower have resolving family issues as the main priority of the plot, if not the main character? Both Tsukimi and Kurako just wanted to make their dead parent's proud. Sunako and her auntie just wanted to know they appreciate each other. I should really want some dumb fanservice-y anime to laugh at it's stupidness, because I'm starting to get spoiled rotten when it comes to anime lately.
  17. anime

Speaking of which, I wonder if this Queen's Blade I've heard about is Eiken bad... it's has "goo bunny girl" that looks so silly, is it as stupid as Eiken or High School of the Dead? OH GOD! She's called "Melona"? I think it just might be stupid enough.
  18. anime

I've already mentioned that I find High School of the Dead hilarious for all the wrong reasons... The girls have giant breasts and they still have to shoehorn a girl with EVEN BIGGER BREASTS for fanservice sake, I've said it before, it's Love Hina with Zombies, which is why it's so terrible and why it's the best thing ever. I have no idea what "My Mental Choices Are Completely Interfering with My High School Romantic Comedy", but with a name so ridiculous I HAVE to check it out. If you found High School of the Dead gross, try watching Eiken, it has little a girl with blimp sized breasts... the fanservice levels are so ridiculous it's just hilarious...
  19. anime

I finally finished watching The Wallflower and I almost loved it as much as Ouran High School Host Club, although it's a bit of a double standard to have the men fawned over in such a ridiculous manner for humorous reason and not meant to be creepy. The main male protagonist is so pretty that men and women constantly harass him to a point where he can't get even get a job anymore because of this. The story wants us to feel pity for him and laugh when there are a million people outside his home trying to get into his pants... In a way this much creepier than they try to portray Sunako as. I'm glad Sunako didn't change much and the finale didn't really resolve anything except some family issues, which is strangely satisfying... SunakoXHiroshi are my OTP! Anyway, I should start watching Princess Jellyfish now.
  20. Oops, sorry, I was trying to decipher the menu and didn't notice your message. XP
  21. Recently completed video games

Steam says I played Dust nearly 20 hours, but I lover brawelrs and Metroidvania style games, so it's expected I'd play it more. I played 39 Steps, it wasn't really interactive at all, but the story was gripping and kept me going until the end. I thought it would just be a visual novel, I did not expect a great adaptation of a Victorian suspense story! I also completed "GO GO NIPPON!"... I don't know what to think of it, this was made by a Japanese company for Otakus? Maybe even full blown "weeaboos"? It's just... Well, I'll try to explain. It's supposed to be a visual novel of a guys first trip to Japan, he's going to spend a week with some guys he met online, except they are cute girls... and eventually you have the obligatory "walk in and accidentally catch them changing clothes" scene from almost every anime and in the end... depend on which places you pick, you fall in love with one of them, because visual novels? It was pretty uncomfortable, it was mostly about the game geeking out about everything, sometimes I was embarrassed because I knew I would act the same, but sometimes... it was just hard to read. In one word, that game is "Japandering". Heck, that game was so embarrassing to play, I'm not afraid to say it was more embarrassing to play than "My Girlfriend is the President!" a visual novel that I would actually recommend to you all because it's legitimately funny and well written... but it's one of THOSE games... I really wish I could skip THOSE parts. Because of THOSE parts nobody will ever want to hear more about this game, I'll just say that at least the romance felt more legit that a Mass Effect one... which isn't that hard. I also just finished The Book of Unwritten Tales: The Critter Chronicles, which takes place before the first game and tells us how Nate & Critter met. Nate was my least favorite character and playing as Critter can be annoying since you can't understand what he's saying. The game recycles some content form the first game, more than some, which would be OK if this was an episodic game, but it's not. The game makes more sci-fi jokes than fantasy jokes for reasons that will become obvious once you play the game, but it didn't feel as fun as the first game, there some pretty convoluted puzzles, Nate even admits he wants to do things in the most convoluted way possible and since half the dialogue is from a critter you can't understand... it's not as funny either. Obligatory Monkey Island Reference: Not only is it an achievement, but you even get to say the "behind you, a three-headed animal!" line, not mention the game just dressed up one of the characters as the Purple Tentacle, that's way too blatant for my tastes...
  22. I hope Kanji's drink looks tough, but tastes super sugary... I'm surprised Chie's isn't just steak juice.
  23. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

Wow, I don't know if I should post this in the comic thread, but John Campbell of Pictures for Sad Children.... probably needs help... badly? The other day he attacked online another cartoonist for no apparent reason and took down his comic and now... Well... He did this. While most are incredibly upset by this, cartoonist close enough to him are pretty sure he's... unstable and needs help. He thinks everybody is the enemy and well... I'm kinda worried for him. I really don't know what is going on, some cartoonists are acting like he might do something stupid if they don't get to talk to him soon, some think he's just an awful person for burning the books that have been payed for.
  24. anime

You mean the Dark Arts episode? He was a minor character before that episode, which seemed to focus on the "big brother" trope more than anything else, at least to me.
  25. anime

Wow, thanks for suggestion The Wallflower, I'm loving it! I've just reached the Halloween episode and I can't wait to watch it... I like Sunako character, even though the main goal of the anime is for her to change... I kinda hope she doesn't change that much and they reach a happy medium? I've only seen a few episodes, but so far I agree with Gormongous, she was never ugly, she's just so obsessed with darkness I don't think she wants to "look pretty".
