  1. Well, the game does have multiplayer, but I didn't even notice it, I just played a few levels, got bored, used the cheat device to buy a skin... and noticed VAC. If it's really game specific, then I guess it's not the end of the world, I'm not sure what the "in good standing" status will do. I won't be taken seriously on the Steam forums? Will nobody buy my trading cards? That might be a problem. I guess the question is, did I access the VAC server somehow even though I never was online? I might have messed up some single player leaderboard, but I'm guessing the VAC only searches for cheat devices while you're playing multiplayer since this is when you're on the VAC server? Why such a game is deserving of one is beyond me...
  2. I found out the developer is Korean, so even explaining the situation is going to be complex, it's also distressing me more that I thought. As far as I know I should only get banned if I was playing multiplayer on a VAC server, right? This really sucks, I rarely cheat and when I do it's to avoid grinding... A part of me thinks I'll be banned from all my Steam games and that I'll never be able to play again, a part of me says the best case scenario is that: A: Since I wasn't on multiplayer it doesn't count? B: I only get banned from a game I'd never play anyway. I feel so stupid, like I said, I only cheat to avoid grinding and I'm usually smart enough to check for VAC Shield, but this game looked like a mobile port, so for once I didn't bother.

I beat Storm in a Teacup, a very obvious mobile game port, but an enjoyable one nonetheless. It's pretty basic, you're a teacup that can fly for a while and has to dodge saws and other obstacles until you reach the goal. Since it's a mobile game, it has a star rating system and the physics seems a bit off, but my only real complaint is that the game had some simple physics puzzles in the first levels only to not have them again for the rest of the game. The bonus levels seem to be about this though.
  4. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

I just posted about that a few days ago... I've only read the Hellboy crossovers so far, but it seems Dark Horse in general isn't very strong about the whole "Read issue #X of another series to get this", so far I've only seen them do "Read issue #X of the older series to get this".

Can we please stop talking about rape in this thread? If you want to talk about this so much, start a thread about the game itself, offensive comedy or rape culture.
  6. Recently completed video games

I beat the Doctor Who games, which came in a season of 4 minisodes that are OK-ish and most puzzles are solved with the sonic screwdriver and an extra one called the Gunpowder Plot which feels more like a full game, still way too easy. In this game you solved most problems with the sonic screwdriver AND the psychic paper! The fact pops out of nowhere did make me jump a bit... The games are almost educational since it's keeps teaching you science-y or historical facts depending on the episode.
  7. Beyond: Two Souls

The game practically YELLS at you that you are making a choice and will go out of it's way to show it's consequences, except it doesn't seem to affect the game at all. The consequences are shown just for emotions, not for a narrative and will be dismissed just to include a new chapter for more emotions. The choices are very in your face, the game will just tend to ignore them and it's consequences for it's "emotional narrative", the game is such a mess that Jodie's personality seems to change from chapter to chapter, even when you think of them in order. I'm pretty sure I'm repeating myself, but I'm pretty sure David Cage cares more about how the games makes you feel emotionally than if the game has a cohesive narrative structure or whether the choices matter or not. There is a reason there's a David Cage "EMOTIONS!" meme after all. Press X for emotions!
  8. Beyond: Two Souls

I already talked about this game a bit in the "Completed games thread", but I still have more to get off my chest, although I'm glad I'm not the only who hated this game... To me it was Indigo Prophecy all over again, fun at the start, but it gets dumber and dumber as you play on. I'm pretty sure I'm putting way much more thought in this game than David Cage did... Is Heavy Rain equally as dumb?
  9. Recently completed video games

I beat Beyond: Two Souls and halfway through it, I thought, "Well, I've skipper Heavy Rain, but at least it's not as dumb as Indigo Prophecy! I think I'll recommend this game! I might even buy Heavy Rain!". And then... The narrative works in a sense, but David Cage... need some restraint? Some of the chapters could have a have been a simple short cutscene, did I really have to do the whole stupid date scene? Here's Beyond: Two Souls in a nutshell: Jodie is sad, Aiden is a jerk... BETRAYAL! EMOTIONS! BETRAYAL! MORE EMOTIONS! Jeez, like I said this guys need to learn restraint, if he didn't go overboard and shove emotions at 250% down our throats, I would have felt the emotions David Cage wanted me to fill, but he always not only goes one step too far, he goes a whole timezone too far and I just take the "super serious" situation seriously anymore. PS: Since I play more game than watch movies, I saw Ellen Page and thought she looked just like Ellie from Last of Us, when it's really the other way around. *shrugs*
  10. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

OK, I know the last post is mine but.... Dark Horse is selling EVERY Hellboy issues for 50$!

I just beat God of War: Ascension and... I think I don't care about God of War games... It's too "mature", a.k.a. "puerile". I feel like this was going to be a Vita game but they didn't trust the Vita enough so they ported it to the PS3 at the last minute, so visuals look terrible and I can almost imagine solving some of the puzzles with the touch screen. It was a total slog, you always stay with the same weapon for the whole game, it only gains elemental moves, which rarely do the "elemental part", the spell system is almost useless too. Maybe the PSP games were just as bad, but this game slogs along to "AAA" length a.k.a. "kill me now" length. The most infuriating parts of the game are the constant flashbacks, whenever you pick up a power up you have to play a very lengthy section from the past were it shows you getting this item for the first time and losing it later. Nothing even feels like a boss fight... did I even have one? Without a special name or a bar I can't tell if I just killed a miniboss or what, not that I cared. If the game didn't hint at another game, I'd say I wish this was the last one... The WORLD LITERALLY ENDS in GoW 3 and the series almost has more prequels than sequels, I just don't care anymore about them.
  12. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

It seems that someone was such a big fan of Gigi D.G.'s video game comics before she started Cucumber Quest that... they started a Kickstarter without her consent. Way to be classy, guys... How did KS even allow this?
  13. General Video Game Deals Thread

I looked up the games and they are still cheaper that buying them at another store, I'm more worried on whether I'll enjoy AssCreed 4 since I hated 3, even though everybody is screaming at me "YES! Even if you hated 3 you'll love 4!". :|
  14. General Video Game Deals Thread

I don't know if this is the right thread to post this in, but the only local game store is merging with a Warhammer shop and is getting rid of their new games to sell older used ones. So... Is 10€ a decent price for a bare GameBoy Color? They have modern games at half price, which is almost what they cost elsewhere, but still a bit cheaper. Even if I LOATHED AssCreed 3 should I get AssCreed 4 for PS3 for 30€? They also have Lost Planet 3 for about 25, which is kinda the price of the PC version and Saints Row IV for 25€. They also have the two latest Layton games for 20€ each, but while I enjoy the story in these games, I dislike the puzzles and end up using a guide. :|
  15. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I think I'm about to quit on the PC port of Deadly Premonition, it's the worst piece of software bugwise I've played in AGES! I just lost an hour of progress for NO reason... And I had just beaten on the hardest races for me... The mere thought of having to do it again is just too much. Has anybody actually managed to stomach the PC port until the end? :| Was the first chase scene always this horrible? No matter how much I mash left and right York walks SLOW AS HELL... I don't think I can put up with this port anymore.
  16. Cartoons!

If it were a Revenge of the Nerds knock off, it would have been a lot more rapey, perverted and make you root for the "bad guys".
  17. Cartoons!

Hmm, they literally explode out of the closet in M.U.
  18. Free to play: The Movie

Yeah... But I'm sure many will at least try to watch it before just leaving it on for the cards. But you're right about the stats, they will be completely ruined by those who will only leave it on for cheevos and cards. Maybe they have a cheevo for those who actually watched the movie for real? It shouldn't be too hard to know if your not the active window or not, right? That's one way to get the cheevo hunters to watch the film.
  19. Cartoons!

I just watched Monster University and it was amazing... and kinda depressing since it's a sequel and what happens next. I gotta say, I'm pretty sure a few of us have never been to an American college/high shcool/university with cheerleaders and brotherhoods, but they are so ubiquitous in pop culture I still got every joke about the schooling system. It's strange how I was rooting fro Mike since the beginning since it's a prequel, but I guess this movie was more about him than Sully?
  20. Free to play: The Movie

I'll wait until this is on the sale or in an indie bundle.... Oh wait, it's free. Damn, I was going to make a joke about cheevos and Steam cards, but it actually has them? *makes lame joke about his joke DPS* ¬_¬U But seriously, I might give the movie a go if it's free, I've never been into esports, but I guess this movie is all about getting people excited about it?
  21. anime

So I just saw the latest episode of Kill la Kill and...
  22. What's With This One Guard in A Link to the Past

Damn... That's grim, I never noticed that before, and I've played this game a ton of time.

I just beat Rain and Datura, Rain has a bit of an ICO vibe with the whole leading a defenseless girl... I'm pretty sure the stone bench I saw was a reference... the whole rain and invisibility dynamic was pretty interesting and the game is short enough that you won't get tired of the gimmick. Datura is literally a trippy game, Datura is actually the name of a hallucinogenic flower and you do strange puzzle which unlock visions of your past where you usually can do the right thing or be a jerk. It's so short that I played it twice and noticed that ending was minimally different at the end if you were a better person.
