I kinda slogged my way through Mercenary Kings in the end... Who thought that combining a fast paced Metal Slug-style game with the slog and grind fest of Monster Hunter? I cheated to get skip the grinding and only did the non-optional missions and I still think they should have scrapped even more levels, the first part is the first since it's some much more of the same and it doesn't really change after the point the game "should" have ended, the game finally decides to add new areas and enemies... but it's still mostly the same enemies only harder. I don't regret cheating in the end, in the same way Final Fantasy is actually better when you can just rush to the best parts and don't need to grind, this game is pretty OK when you can skip... well, nearly all of it? *shrugs*
  2. Actual reading about games thread

I recently read a book in parts called "Ocho Quilates (8K)" about the history of video games in Spain, it's in Spanish, but it was nice to learn about the history of games in my own country. Wouldn't you know it, it talks a lot about piracy and oddly enough the biggest game store franchise started because some pirates turned a new leaf and also fought for cheaper games.
  3. That's two thing I've decided to do, now only friends can see my inventory and if I game starts to feel like a slog... I won't go to Cheat Engine to hope it make it better.... But yeah, I highly doubt it I'll use it on Steam ever again... I don't think I remember the last time I used it on a game and it made me enjoy the game... I'm fed up with TF2 traders, this kid was particularly annoying since I told I didn't trade several times, I ignored him, he ask me a few more times, I said no and ignored again, only to have him go crazy and accuse me of hacking him. I could swear his name was "The_Deranged_One" or some variation of that, but after reporting on his profile him I can no longer find his profile. I assume he really thought he was getting hacked and changed all his info? After searching for that name in Steam the only person that appeared I knew was... Patters? It's a funny coincidence, but I do think he was friends with someone in my list. Maybe it was some other TF2 played who just friended me for my items? I do remember he was American. It's too bad the chat log is gone and I can no longer check anything. It's also weird he insisted in trading with me and never sent a trade invite.
  4. I haven't played TF2 in ages, oddly enough I installed today and thought that if I got bored enough of single player games I might do some bot training, but I deleted it after the bad taste this encounter left me. I still won't sell my exclusive TF2 items... :|
  5. So you're saying I'm asking to be banned for chatting while having this program open? Bans exist only for people who ruin multiplayer games, not for people who don't want to waste time grinding in single player games. I'm still curious to know if he somehow knew I had Cheat Engine or if he was just crazy, I serious doubt he or I should get VAC banned for chatting with this program open... Although frankly, I thinking of not using Cheat Engine unless it's for emulation, the last few times I used it on a Steam game I still quit it because it still sucked. *shrugs*
  6. I'd never thought I'd revive this thread, but... yet another TF2 kid bothered me for my TF2 and I don't know how.... saw I had Cheat Engine active... And said he's going to report me for hacking him... I reported him for harassing me and claiming I hacked him... I highly doubt anything will happen, but now my inventory is private. How did he know? Should he be able to know? Was he just crazy? I think he was called "The Deranged One", but after reporting him, I can't seem to find his page?
  7. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

Jesus, the sale at Comixology is crazy.... They have a ton of manga on sale... but there are just so many I don't even know where to start asking about them. They also have Cartoon Network comics on sale, where the Power Puff Girls and Samurai Jack comics any good? They also have an SDCC Image sale... I might get a vol of Saga, Rat Queen, Sex Criminals... and I don't know anything about the rest. Comixology has some weird region locking, so I'm hoping I can buy the US only Cartoon Network comics, if you can see them it usually let's you buy them?

I finished Freedom Planet... It's weird, I could swear it promoted itself a Sonic fan game, but everybody at the Steam forums seems to be upset if you suggest it... even though it's probably the best "Sonic" game I've played in ages... it's also the best "Rocket Knight" game I've played in ages too, it's just soooo Sonic it's weird they are denying it... Maybe Sega insisted they didn't? Either way, it was awesome... I also beat Momodora I & II, free indie metroidvania games that are pretty solid... I think one of the programmers might be an Idle Thumbs fan? Short, tough, but fun!

I re-played Earthbound and it's still pretty amazing... it only got annoying because I tried to get a rare drop... I gained so many levels trying to get it that I breezed through the rest of the game. But I still can't grasp Gygas true form....
  10. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

Speaking of webcomics, while "blind grinding" I read Nimona, from one of the authors of Lumberjanes.... only to find out it's ending soon. Out of curiousity I also started to read a comic called Crazy Sunshine, and it really confused me at the beginning, since it think it's a cheesecake comic just because one of the characters has large breasts, but it's too tame for that and sometimes the jokes don't even make sense, but once it started to get a better grasp on humor and the plot was better... it said it was going in hiatus probably forever. As for the new Thor... I can only say the helmet looks ugly and as for the new Captain America.... What happens to Falcon's animal sidekick Redwing? How does this affect the Pet Avengers, the only super hero team I care about (apart from Power Pack)?
  11. General Video Game Deals Thread

I missed out the super cheap price of Earthbound on the WiiU's Virtual Console, but it's 40% off now. Also, if you own one of the NES Remix games you can get the other one at a cheaper price too.
  12. Recently completed video games

Well, NES Remix 2 is so much better than the first game.... I didn't like that Wario Woods was part of the deal and was terrified to see the Lost Levels was also an unlockable, but this game is much more forgiving.... in it's own way. Some levels that include a lot of parts take away the life system and you're only graded on how fast you do them. And I unlocked ALL the levels... except the ones you get for 100%ing the game and I think I actually learned how to play Punch-Out a little better. But the game was created to entice you to buy the games it show cases and yet... I'd rather just play the level were you fight Mother Brain and the levels were you fight the bosses than the whole game, for example. Anyway, while with some game I'm happy to have just played the "best of" with other I could go for more? I really could play a little more Mario Bros. 3.

I beat the story mode in Injustice: Gods Among Us and it's pretty annoying that the game has 2.1 chapters dedicated to Batman and the the Batman of the "otherverse" seems to be the only "good guy" that didn't join Batman. I'm pretty sure this kind of story has been done before in some way or another. It was pretty fun to use the scenario against the enemies and use the special "scene transition attack", Dead or Alive has something similar, but this game does it better, for example, kick a guy through a door in Arkham Asylum and a big chunk of Batman's rogue gallery will beat that character up. The gambit system is annoying since the computer always uses it when it has a bigger bar than me, forcing me to either let them recover health or lose my power meter.
  14. anime

The guys in Ping Pong Club keep showing off their... "paddles" and... Wait.... wait... I just realized a better comparison, Ping Pong Club is like Porky's, which I already find unfunny, only worse. This is like one of those campus comedies from the 80's which a bunch of perverted losers, only they're Japanese.
  15. anime

Hmm, I thought Highschool of the Dead was gloriously cheesy and laughed all the way through it, but I just face palmed and quit after a few episodes of this show. The episodes are on YouTube and only 10 minutes long, so it's worth a shot if you think this kind of humor is funny... or so unfunny it's funny all over again. Like I said before, I can only describe it as "Japanese Revenge of the Nerds" only terrible.
  16. anime

Yeah, I was watching the wrong show, the other show feels like Japanese Revenge of the Nerds... only worse.
  17. anime

I just watched the first two episodes of Ping Ping Club on YouTube and... I didn't find it funny, so far it's farting and looking at panties. It's perversion and puerile humor... :|
  18. anime

Ugh, I had forgotten how terrible Ataru is... Doesn't he spend the whole series trying to get with every woman she meets? He's like a young Happosai. At least in Ranma, Ranma isn't trying to sleep with all his suitors.
  19. anime

I'm kinda getting sick of re-watching Ranma, it really does not hold up, Ranma and Akane constantly treat each other like crap, but the moment someone else shows interest in the other, they get all offended. And while I'm still re-watching this, I'm pretty sure by the end of the series they STILL haven't admitted their true feelings! What's the point of having two "tsunderes" as main protagonist if they don't even warm up to each other in the end? I'm not sure if I should call it a terrible show, but it's the worst relationship ever... I'm going to say it.... Still better than Twilight? NOPE! For once Twilight is better than this... as least romance-wise. As for action. They make up stupid martial arts techniques, which is just hitting them with the item of what ever the knew character of the day uses.

I beat some games from the recent "Eye Candy" Humble Bundle: -140: It's a simple and short rhythm platform. You find some sort of keys that add a beat to the level, the music affects how the world reacts and for example the music from one sound channel might be connected to the spikes, while the other is connected to a platform. Considering how terrible I am at rhythm game, I'm surprised I beat it, I guess it didn't demand that much rhythm after all? -Secrets of Rætikon: Wasn't this the game mentioned in the last Idle Thumbs podcasts? You play as a weird bird man who must collect some shards to power up artifacts to get core for the main artifact which is the main goal of the game. Some animals are harmless... but they will steal your core, you can't kill them directly, so you can either try to dodge them or get another predator to deal with them or even drop them on spikes. -Cinders: A Cinderella Visual Novel, except you choose your own path, you can try to get your stepsisters or stepmother on your side... you can choose not to marry the prince, there are many variations to the endings of the game, like, depending on how you act in the game, if you choose the Prince path, you might be a great Queen or a sucky one.
  21. The Wolf Among Us

  22. The Wolf Among Us

  23. The Wolf Among Us

I just beat the final episode too and:
  24. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

Most modern Harvest Moon include mining or fishing, so you have something to do in Winter.... And some of them have greenhouses so you can plant any season anyway. I never played Harvest Moon 64, but the original Harvest Moon is the least enjoyable of all the HM games I've played. But don't most Harvest Moon games include Harvest Sprites to do some of the work for you? Did I mention you don't have a fishing pole and you can only fish by borrowing one from the fisherman and hope he didn't take that day off if you want to do anything. Either way, the days are too fast for crops, if I planted more than 4 crops I wouldn't have time to ship them before the shipper arrive, so I concentrated on cows. In a way I'm still glad to have played it just to see where the series came from and to see how much it has changed and they learned to give us more things to do and a ruck sack so you can actually carry more than one thing. The game has so many flaws... By the time you get the golden hammer your field is clear and you no longer need it, same goes for the golden ax, the game only has four crops, two for each season, not including the grass, there are barely any tools or upgrades. I'm pretty sure it was revolutionary in it's day, but the sequel just show how flawed and limited the first game was.
  25. Is there a way to delete trading cards on Steam?

Wait, I had no idea you can only get one booster pack drop a week, I could swear I got two drops in one week once.
