Geez, I'm glad I didn't watch the show, just reading about it is depressing enough... It's practically sickening, I'm pretty sure GamerGaters are going cheer when they watch this episode.

I just finished Terry Pratchett's Dodger as my first "Scribd" book and... I'm kinda disappointed? It's not that I'm disappointed it was a Discworld book even look it looks like one, it read like one anyway, it's the plot that bothers me. It's about a Victorian street urchin who influences directly almost everything in that era, every character except Dodger is real and everything you know them for? Dodger did it, somehow... The book never spells out things, but I feels like it's rubbing it me in the face... Gee, I wonder how this loveable street urchin will influence CHARLES DICKENS?!?! I guess that's the only point that really bothers me, because the whole "Charles Dickens meets a street urchin" angle. It was like Victorian Forrest Gump?

Well, I just found out about Scribd, and I'm BAFFLED that it's in my country... They have the Terry Pratchett books I haven't read yet? How is this even possible? I know you guys have Netflix and all that, but for me to have something like this and not region locked? I'm just utterly shocked! I'm just expecting it to be gone tomorrow, it's just... too good to be true?

But can we agree that the whole Depression Quest incident is what united them as a group? Before they were like an annoying pest, but that incident made them into a pinpoint laser of hatred and bigotry burning all it touches.

The saddest one is the mom who raised his kid to be a liberal feminist. : ( ...Would it be tasteless to wonder if a certain comedian was still alive, would GamerGate ever have happened? Or was this always a powder keg and that incident lit the fuse?

Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I'm currently debating whether to continue playing the new Thief or not, while I rather enjoy the gameplay, what bothers me is... the plot? Maybe the game is trying to depict how corrupt and evil the world is in the game, but I've barely started and it's feeling more puerile than anything, what's next? A torture scene? Cannibalism? -
Isn't this like saying "I cut my finger while running towards Anita with the knife I was going to stab her with! IT'S HER FAULT!". Is there a word for when something is equally ridiculous and terrifying?

Ugh! I really loved the trailer too, I got the goosebumps from the moment Igor appeared until the end. <3 -
Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.
Tanukitsune replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
Argh, I won't even buy the game because what I've about the stealth sections. I'm quitting The Quivering, an old adventure game nobody has heard of... for a reason. It's supposed to be a comedy horror adventure, but the humor falls painfully flat. The art style is rather goofy looking, but the moment anybody opens their mouth it stops being funny, maybe they just need a better delivery, but it's not even charming. As for the puzzles, their logic isn't full moon logic, but it's not really explained either. You have to collect imps for everything, even SAVING. You can die easily so you kinda have to save and finding the imps is annoying, you literally have to stop on every screen and wait until one pops out of hiding to pick it up. If only the deaths were a bit funny I might go on, but this game hasn't aged well, well, I don't think it was loved when it came out. Even with a walkthrough it was getting painfully boring. -
As someone who has finished Danganronpa, would you guys recommend the anime? Is it just an adaptation or does it add anything new to the story? Does it lose it's appeal if you know the plot of the game?

I just finished Danganronpa: Happy Trigger Havoc, which is half 999/Corpse Party and half... Phoenix Wright? As I play more visual novels I'm seeing common themes and tropes, so I'm at the point where if I see similar scenarios, I don't know if it's a norm or a rip-off? And yet, the game also caught me off guard a lot times, and unlike The Last Reward, when I saw a hole in the plot it was either explained later, minor, irrelevant or on purpose. Unlike The Last Reward, the mistakes were forgivable and did make the whole story stupid and not make sense. This game was probably the most emotionally exhausting game I've played, even more than any Telltale game, while some games made me a little misty eyed, this one lead me to full blown tears. And that's because of the main theme: DESPAIR. The game is great at crushing my hopes right from the start. I'm debating whether to say this game is actually better than 999, the game has better moments than 999, but... I'm not sure if I like the gameplay at all? I must confess I barely remember the Phoenix Wright games, so I don't remember the gameplay. Was it normal to solves "the case" while you're in the middle of the "trial"? I found that annoying, but not as much as the gimmicks. Shooting bullets of truth at the lies, playing a goddam rhythm game... it's almost like the game doesn't want me to like it. And yet, like I said, I'm almost thinking of ranking it higher than 999. I guess that means I at least like the story more than 999? The game has a minor social sim where you can socialize with your friends that will gain skills to use in the trial, which I needed because of the damn rhythm game. The game is about despair and hope, I felt both, so in my book is a success. Also the fact I'm not giving too many details is because like 999, the more you speak about, the more I fear ruining it.

That would have been to know when they had all of Dr. Slump for sale.... T_T

Oh God, they have a Wiki page... do I dare look at it? DX

We all sometimes tend to refuse someone whose work you enjoy is against something else you enjoy. I'm pretty sure Jim is "anti-GG" and TB is pro-GG? Recently, Angry(FOURHOURS)Joe posted a video about the top 10 gaming controversies and obvious GG was number one... He was neutral and insisted that GG had done some charity, so that somehow excuses all the bad thing they've done? Obviously his video was flooded by GGers angry he was neutral and will the typical comments. In the video he used an image with photos of people and logos on each side. One demanded the video take down and but a copyright claim since their logo appeared. He claimed the logo was theirs, he claimed the video was defamation because he appeared as a GGer... on the image he claimed to have created. It's rather ironic that AngryJoe was saying GG was dying down and "behaving", only to have his day ruined by GG.

I just beat Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth, it's was "only" 30 hours long, which is giving me more reasons to think that even JRPGs are shorter than AAA games now. The game is ridiculously niche, it's about the four Goddesses of Gameindustri, a world with each land representing one "faction": Sony, Sega, Nintendo and Microsoft. Neptunia is the "Sega" Goddess who is defeated and loses her memory (yes, the game is very aware how cliche it is) and while searching for her memories, she makes friends based on Japanese game companies like Compa (Compile) and IF(Idea Factory). They unveil the evil plot of Arfoire (R4, remember the R4?). I'm surprised by this game, it has crafting, sidequests and so much stuff to do, but it's so painless, the mission are rather short and even boss fights are never too long because you'll die too quickly if you're underleveled. Speaking of levelling, I'm surprised the game makes leveling so easy, the game has several "mini-bosses" that are hard to defeat, but give you a ton of XP and respawn. I'm not sure I can convey how delighted I am by this game, it's a JRPG and it doesn't even do the obligatory "bath house scene", something that even Persona does, sure it's a bit pandering, but in a congratulatory way. Some of the best jokes are the ones only a few will get. I kinda loved this game!

Yeah, it say so in one review and each episode of Valiant Heart is 3.99. I'll probably get 80 Days.

Argh, I just found out about this.... I'm kinda scared to see how GG will react.

I just completely Gravity Ghost, a game about a girl, a fox and using "orbital slingshotting" to fly around the galaxy. It's surprising how much variety a game about orbiting has, you can collect power ups by solving increasingly complex "ball in maze" puzzles, some are kinda game breaking, but the puzzles are hard enough and far enough in the game to not matter. You gain elemental powers to change the planet's type, some increase or decrease it's gravity, some just change the surface. As a Gravity Ghost you can find animal ghosts to to return to bodies to rest which unlock a scene about the girl's story. I really loved, the voice-work, artwork and story... I won't too much about the story, but yeah, it was pretty amazing and caught me off guard.

Grim Fandango being remastered for PS4 and Vita

I'm probably the only person here waiting for the Vita version... -
I am so bummed out I've beaten Sound Shapes, I can't remember the last time I was legitimately sad when a game ended. It's kinda like the musical levels in Rayman Legends, except not as crazy. You're a sticky orb that collects coins that create the music in the game, the environment and enemies also seem to move with the rhythm of the music and the game was pure joy until it was over.... This might have been the first time I listened to Deadmau5, but I'm sure I've heard him in another game, but since this is mostly a musical game you do have time to listen to it. Like I said, I was bummed out when it was over, enough to play user created levels, which didn't sound right and gave me a headache, the "no death mode" isn't that musical, so I'm not compelled to play it either... The funny part is that I bought this game on a whim when the PSN had the "10% off" deal. Best impulse buy ever?

I think I may have said this before, but "tough decision maker" is officially a genre now. The Detail is a low budget game of this "genre", that doesn't bother to give you time to gain any affection for your character and fails to make it feel like the decisions are that tough, the narrative is very ham-fisted. I probably beat the game in an hour and it was PAINFUL. I've never played such a short game that was so hard to sit through...

I recently beat Quest for Infamy, the last Phoenix Studios (the new Sierra?) game for me to play, since Quest for Glory was never my favorite, so I wasn't too excited about it, I choose the magic user path, which gave a bunch of quests for spell ingredients, which was pretty fun. I loved the lore and the land, well, I didn't like the maps of the main city, but still, I love the game, and while I could see what was coming in most cases a mile away, it was a joyful ride! It might actually be my favorite Pheonix Studio game! I then played... Monster Monpiece... which I heard was a "Moemon" card game with a gimmick I should have expected.... it is a game from Japan. It's a shame, because I LOVED the card game aspect of the game. It's a real shame, because probably the "gimmick" (monster girls and touch screen, do I need to spell it out?) is going to drive everybody away. Sure the AI can be steamrolled once you have a good card deck, but the final battle had me on the ropes and was actually exciting. So yeah, fun card game, but you have to fondle a kobold's butt to level up your cards... Now I know what it had no previews...

Just how long was that game? I got bored after the first time travel level for the same reasons you mentioned. Also I agree with Fist Puncher being a good retro brawler.

Grim Fandango being remastered for PS4 and Vita
Tanukitsune replied to Thrik's topic in Video Gaming
I'm probably going to buy the Vita version as a day one perch and eventually double dip for the PC version. I'd hate to say this, but I can barely play games with tank controls anymore, so this is a god send.
