Woah! Do you know how big of an insult it is to call the game 8-bit? Paul Robertson and the rest of Mecha Fetus are legends in the pixel art world! Calling this 8-bit is like calling the Mona Lisa a child's crayon drawing! I'm also a literate gamer who doesn't read Kotaku... I even met the author at MOCCA a few years ago, before he got popular and all that rot...

I just beat the game and... it's good enough... There is too much combat for a horror game and running away doesn't seem to work as often as it should... The collectibles are meaningless, except for the pages which can give a glimpse to the future and even hints, it was rather cool when the game talked about the future, that was the only scary part really... The game is VERY annoying since it usually takes anything good you might have when the chapter ends and makes you start from zero in the next one and yet you'll never have to worry about ammo... (Unless you play Nightmare mode I think?) If the enemies kept spawning that just means you're supposed to run away, which doesn't work well because he gets tired quickly and slows down, while the enemies don't... It's not a bad game, but it's not survival horror game, your health regenerates, there is too much combat and too much ammo... How is The Signal? Better? Worse? I got a code for it, but I don't think I'll play it if it's more of the same... Also, the ending makes no sense....

I actually got a copy of this game recently, I kinda like that it has Resident Evil 1 "good" acting and that it's so cheesy! X3 The game has three ways to score points: -Suspense: Just be a good reporter and film suspenseful stuff, like the reporter when she talks, ghosts, special documents... -Erotics: You get this by filming, well... the obvious! You can films the reporter's undies, film her in the shower, film dirty mags... -Immoral: Remember when you saw on TV a reporter film someone in need of help and not doing anything? That's what you have to do... Also, you can ram into your reporter... Getting a high enough score in any of these departments gets you a special unlockable, but EU version is borked and you can NOT access the movie gallery... On my first try I managed to get the first reporter I got to live through the WHOLE game! WOOHOO!

Bayonetta, God of War and Devil May Cry are "Hack n' Slash" games... Cases of bad demos are rare, so far I've only heard of Dead Space having a demo that's made people not want the game. But if you know your brawlers then either: -You never bothered to "figure the game out" and gave up too quickly. -You forgot everything you learned from the other brawlers. I can't play the demo since I have the full game, but I saw a gameplay of the demo on YouTube and.... It had none of the complaints you mentioned... Enemies died quickly enough and they didn't stay down long (Did you know you CAN hit them while the are down? That you could pick them up?). They didn't block that much either. Frankly, now I'm baffled. You seem to know a bit about brawlers but you got bored of this? You do know brawlers are about nothing but hitting thugs until you get to hit the boss, right? The worst part is that this game actually has shorter stages that many of the games you've played, yet you had patience for them? (OK, the final stage is very long, but they always are anyway)

I just beat Jak: The Last Frontier in "Hero mode", "inspired" by Ratchet's challenge mode.... The series is somehow a Ratchet knock-off, but I really enjoyed it non the less, I only wish it had a guide so I could get 100%... I couldn't stomach the other Jak games being so vehicle heavy, but I didn't mind at all that this was plane based... which is kinda ripping off Ratchet's spaceship sections?
-
I don't really use manuals myself, but you really have to be lazy when you won't even bother checking the help/controls section in the menu... Oddly enough, Paul Robertson posted a sprite dump of the game on his Livejournal this morning!

You were playing on easy mode? ....Have you ever played a brawler before? The move list is not street fighter complex, you can only do one or two moves at level one and the game tells you about the new moves as you gain levels... You clearly have never played a brawler if this game bored you so easily... I've played every brawler on PSN AND XBLA and this one is better than most of the classics! Oh, and none of them had tutorials either... I guess this game is for retro fans only? Because the people who don't seem to like it don't seem to have played retro brawlers before?
-
Were you playing on the hardest difficulty or what? That doesn't sound like the game I played... I could break their blocking, hit them while they were down and it didn't take long at all to beat any enemy! Did you bother to look up the move list?
-
Umm... So you want a retro brawler without ninjas, zombies or robots? You have played a brawler before, right? Besides, there are ninjas and robots in the comic if memory serves me well?
-
I've gotten the PSN version and I'l already beaten it... It's.... AMAZING! Imagine playing River City Ransom with Amanaguchi doing the music and Paul Robertson doing the graphics! The game gets more insane as you progress and more too! You fight zombies, robots, ninjas... It might seem hard but you can raise your stats like in RCR and that makes the game MUCH easier! Not to mention that there is a place where you can buy extra lives! :3

I'm almost willing to agree with Murdoc... Aren't most of us here, or at least the veterans, hardcore Lucasarts adventure fans?
-
Actually, I just beat Assassin's Creed II myself, and yeah... the ending is SOOO stupid! I really hope Assassin's Creed III takes place in Victorian London, it's either that or it will be in the "present" with Desmond?

I actually own Cross Edge... I kinda don't like it... Has "Tim Langdell" been trademarked? If not, someone should... NOW! He is clearly a troll since he always seems to attack games AFTER they are created and not when while it's still in production when it wouldn't hurt them as much.... Come to think of it... Cross Edge has characters from several different companies, including Capcom, so he's screwed half of Japanese game developers with this move. Are trademarks worldwide? Or does his only affect the US? EDIT: Speaking of Capcom, when is he suing them for having a character named Miles EDGEworth? XP

It looks like it's out already? Or is this a beta version?

Yakuza 3, the closest thing you'll get to Shenmue 3?
Tanukitsune replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
If my backlog wasn't reaching critical mass, I'd probably get a cop of Yakuza 2 and find out myself, but.... Can't you just Google online and see if someone else has posted the differences between the games? -
Oddly enough, I started to actually buy PSN games AFTER I got Plus, I know it's probable the game will be free eventually, but it might not? Either way it will interesting to see how the European version of Plus will work since the European PSN Store is the worst of all regions! We don't get all the PSP game, and we are missing TONS of PSOne games! Can you believe we don't have any of the Spyro games and we're missing a Crash Bandicoot game? What happens when Plus offers a PSX or PSN game that's US only? Will the only offer games that are available in ALL countries? If so, we're going runs out of content in a month or so...
-
This month's features are out! We get... -Alien Zombie Death: Very meh... You shoot zombies until die and unlock the next level... -Blast Off: Make the rocket take off, reach the goal and collect some astronauts... this is almost BLEH! -Zen Pinball: Haven't tried it, but I'm no pinball expert so I wouldn't know if it's any good... -Medievil: It's the only good game I know of this month.... And I already own the PSP AND the original PSX version As for the exclusive demos: -Mushroom Wars: A SLOW Galcon clone... who wants to play a SLOW Galcon? -Infamous: I think the download version costs MORE than the Platinum one!? Well, at least we have one good game this month... And maybe the pinball one is good?

They are making a PSP Yakuza, it's not with the main character, but it's with one of the more likable ones! :3 -
Half Minute Hero.... time to dust off your PSP!
Tanukitsune replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
Huh? I searched for "Half Minute Hero" without the hyphen and it didn't show up, I thought the hyphenated version would show up, I guess no? -
Half Minute Hero.... time to dust off your PSP!
Tanukitsune replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
Yes, but it's not really that stressful, except maybe a bit for the 300 Hero mode. Like I said you can simply pay the Goddess for more time and you only get a lower ranking if you take too much time, but you usually only need to reset it once or twice. I hate stressful games, I DESPISE timers, but I didn't find this stressful at all thanks to the Time Goddess, she's like Ocarina of Time of the game? Since the final mode doesn't have her, it's kinda stressful, but you just have to figure what is necessary and what isn't, if you spend too much time getting all the equipment you'll never make it in time! -
So... Thanks to Playstation Plus I've discovered that the PSN store has all the PSP games I've been waiting for decently priced, but.... when I bought my PSP I bought it with the smallest memory stick possible, which isn't big enough for having PSP games on it, so I need to buy a new one. Unfortunately, all the sites I've found only have the biggest and most expensive in stock, which is 70€... Wait, doesn't the PSP Go come with a 16G Memory Stick? But it's even more expensive than 70€... But wait! Doesn't it come with 10 free games in Europe? Gran Turismo PSP MotorStorm: Arctic Edge LittleBigPlanet Wipeout Pure Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice FIFA World Cup Need For Speed: Shift Avatar Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines Also, it's "only" 220€ if I get it online? The thing is, it's mostly racing games, which I'm terrible at, but... I want to get better at them? Just how terrible is the PSP Go? It looks like I'm going to sell 70€ for the stick, would it really be such a bad idea to spend 150 more and get the Go with all these free games? I knew about the 10 games before, but then I didn't know I needed a new memory stick... I'm actually debating whether if this is a bad idea or not...
-
OH GOD! The PSP Go actually looks like a good idea?
Tanukitsune replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
Things could get "interesting" if you're a European Playstation Plus user... Europe has almost nothing in the PSOne classics store, each month we get a new free PSOne game, so eventually we'll either run out of PSOne games or they'll give out a game that's only in the US PSN store and.... ??? Before I said I might get a JP PSN account for JP games, but now it seems I'll need a US PSN account too?! -

Oh, come on! Don't exaggerate! It lasts as much as a cookie in a kindergarten class! -

At least my PSP lasted more than my 360, and it still kinda works, only it's pretty cumbersome... -

I looked a bit more and it looks that quite of few of my games are not available yet... I'm going to have to get a PSP 3000, since my PSP 2000 is dying I'll need something to play the nearly two shelves of PSP games I have... And the GO is not going to work for this...
