I'm surprised there wasn't a thread for this game already! Shank is a 2D animated piece of badassery... I'm not sure if I should call it a brawler, it has so many weapon it's almost like a 2D God of War, it's a bit in the grey territory, but I'll call it a brawler because it has no RPG stats? Anyway, it's animated in flash, but you wouldn't notice... It's the basic story of revenge and as you progress you learn more of what happened to Shank and you meet the people Shank must defeat to be avenged, it's not that original, but it's decent enough to not be spoiled. After the look of the game, the real sauce of the game is the combat. I've played a TON of brawler like games, and when I saw that the enemies had lots of guns, I thought it would like the broken mess that was the Dishwasher thingie, but it WORKS! Shank has knives as his quick attack, a gun that doesn't do much damage but keeps enemies at bay and... A FREAKING CHAINSAW! Yep, this game is pretty violent, although not too gory, except some cutscenes... Did I mention you get a hockey wielding blood covered costume if you kill enough enemies with your chainsaw? :B They also got the difficulty pretty tightly balanced, while you have no lives, you start at the last checkpoint and the enemies are your typical brawler thugs that just change costume depending on the area you're in, but the variety is pretty big for a brawler and you'll never get tired of seeing the enemy too many times! And they are always manageable, even the giant shield wielding thugs if you know what you're doing... As you progress you'll get new weapons, but frankly, I think the ones you get at the start of the game are the best. As for the bosses, they are completely different from normal thugs as normal attack barely damage them, they all have a point when they are vulnerable, by either tricking them into ramming into wall of blocking at a precise moment, or something similar.... If Scott Pilgrim is the best brawler on XBLA and PSN, this is the runner up... which unfortunately nobody will play BECAUSE of Scott Pilgrim!

Difficulty spikes? The only really difficult boss was the final one, which wasn't that hard once you got the hang of him?

CARD GAMES ON MOTORBIKES! :B Hmm, I'm pretty sure it's more likely to be something like that, I'd hate to say, but most gamers and nerds in general would be furious to see these characters in a poker game, but if it was Magic the Gathering like game? Now that I wouldn't mind playing!
-
How so? I never actually said or thought poker mini games were bad, but I can't see how a poker mini game can be better than the dedicated one apart from AI, which a mini game can have?

I just beat Alpha Protocol on Hard Mode today actually... Doing things poorly doesn't make people angry, but doing certain thing will make them angry, like killing innocents with Mina as a handler. The order in which you do the missions can affect the other missions, if you meet a certain someone in one area, that person can be in another area to assist you in a mission. Hard mode was kinda fun since I REALLY had to rely on stealth, enemies can take you down pretty quickly even with the best armor! The ending can change is very subtle ways... The handler you chose, how much they like you, how much you know about them...

IT WOULD STILL BE TIC TAC TOE! It's still the kind of game that should be just a mini game within a game and not a whole game by itself... IT'S TIC TAC TOE! (Of Towers of Hanoi, Match 3, you should know what I mean)
-
Tic tac toe with hilarious jokes in it and great writing is still tic tac toe....
-
Ug.... I hope it's not a card, it would a waste of potential... I'd rather play a vampire romance hidden object game that a poker game! It would be like getting Godzilla, Gamera, King Kong, King Ghidorah and Mazinger Z together and make a tic tac toe game with them...

Good night sweet podcast... -
Is anybody a sad human like me, and have not played any LucasArts adventure games?
Tanukitsune replied to Snooglebum's topic in Video Gaming
The worst adventure games I've played are "Operation Stealth", an awful spy game and Dare To Dream, and adventure game by Cliffy B... I can see why he does shooters now.... XP Chewy: Esc from F5 has the most annoying main character though! -

I can no longer enjoy Simon the Sorcerer, I liked it as a kind, but it's not that it's bad, it's the voice actor... Chris Barrie! I love Chris Barrie, but he always plays a smug , so now when I play the game I think that Simon is a smug .... Come to think of it, most adventure "heroes" are , they nick anything that isn't nailed down, and find a hammer to get the nails off what isn't and while they don't go shooting people, they will ruin your day MINIMUM if not your life! -
So, I'm practically the only one who bought it? Dang...
-
Ok, I just beat the game... it gets a bit too talky in the end, but it was still fun! Has anybody played on hard? Since I should have unlocked Veteran, it should be easier for me anyway?

Hey, I think I remember this part! Can't you take a mud bath to get rid of them? How did I remember that? I only played the game ONCE over TEN years ago! -

I'm pretty sure point and click is synonymous of mouse controlled games? -
Ha ha, the game is so ridiculously fun when you get the highest rank in stealth! You can literally become invisible for enough time to take out a whole room if you're quick enough!

OK, most older non-Lucasrts games tend to very un-intuitive, but I do think many of them were good.... If you used a guide! XD Although in many of them I somehow messed up so bad I had to restart even WITH a guide! -

Wow, you thought MI was unintuitive? Then never play a Sierra game! Those are BRUTAL! XD -
Game, what game? There is only a movie based on a comic that only pinko commie nazis loves! If there was a game you'd have be a commie to love it, even though the game is solid enough to stand on it's own it doesn't matter, you're worse than Hilter, Jack the Ripper and Jack Thompson combined for liking it!

I thought I was totally boned and failed twice, but by taking cover in the place where the ammo spawn and running when he pulls out the knives and then hitting him when he stops to rest worked fine! Also, you should really try to play as a rookie first as it unlocks the veteran which is a total badass and starts with tons of AP and money!
-
I'm having fun so far with the game! I just beat the Russian Brayko guy.... I was a Rookie wearing no armor, I had forgotten to bring any health packs and I was a stealth specialist too, but I was on Easy... I really love and hate the whole conversation system, you never know if what you said will prevent you from getting a mission later...

I'm fairly positive the podcast is mostly PC-centric.... The whole WIIIIZZAAAAARD thing came from Diablo III, right? Which is PnC... Fine, hate adventure games, but hating PnC games all together and joining this forum is like being a vegan and joining the "***** IS AWESOME" forums! -

Ok, this might not be the "Lucasarts fanclub", but I'm pretty sure this is the "Point n' Click" club.... We're mostly PC fans and play FPS, adventure game and strategy games.... which are mouse, a.k.a. "PNC" games? -
So if this game wasn't about Scott Pilgrim you wouldn't hate it? That's... ridiculous? I've played games based on franchises I don't like that much anymore, they still make good games! I never listened to heavy metal music before, that didn't stop me from enjoying Brütal Legend, I don't like superhero comics, but when they make good games, I play them! This game plays just like River City Ransom... you could almost call it a rip-off, those tropes are the usual stuff you get in these games, if you hate retro games, then just say it, don't say it like people who enjoy it are utter morons for liking things like actual colors in their games... Frankly, I kinda wish this wasn't a Scott Pilgrim game, because the game would have been great without the franchise behind it and we could stop this talk about the franchise.... Come to think of it, how many of us are actually commenting about the game? Or are we just calling each other names for liking or not liking the comic and/or movie this game is based on?

Nappi is right, the forum scans your computer and doesn't let you in unless if finds SCUMMVM or some Lucasarts adventure in your hard drive.... It then asks you 100 questions about every Lucasarts adventure ever made, you need to get 90 right to get to the next step... Ghost pirate LeChuck materializes in your room and you must defeat him with what ever you have in your pockets... Then you have to find a bigfoot.... Am I forgetting anything?
