OK, how about some early 90's games? Those were at least cheesy fun!
-
I'd love to try this game, but everybody keeps telling me... "Buy Demon Souls, IT WILL RAPE YOU SO HARD AND YOU WILL LOVE IT!" that just makes me NOT want to buy the game... How fair is it? Mega Man fair? Modern Ninja Gaiden fair (as in NOT fair at all)? Do I need "I can beat Ikaruga blindfolded" skills? If I keep insisting, will I eventually beat it?

I was about to make a post about Case 0, but since I didn't see any post I assumed nobody here liked the game... I've only played Case 0, but it's AWESOME! It's still as fun, but a little less frustrating, you have more time to rescue people and more save points and.... It has a MOOSE HEAD! Which is practically the best item in the game since it lets you run and charge at enemies, making you move faster and making your zombie body count rise! Also... If you use the special attack with a kitchen knife... you hear the shower music cue from Pyscho! The fact that Chuck was wearing a dress at the moment I did this only made the game better! Oh, and let's not forget the combination of item, which makes the game much more interesting!

I'm not really going to miss GOG, I had a PC when these games came out and I already own most of the good games they have, and the obscure ones tend to be a bit rubbish.... If only Good Old Games actually sold OLD games and not games that are barely more than years old! I want early 80's games dammit!

OH DEAR GOD! If that is true, the mere thought of the possible price of a 3DTV that doesn't need glasses is just.... "If you have to ask how much it costs, you can't afford it.":getmecoat
-
I think so because I saw a few sites selling 3DTVs for 3000-6000€ and for that price they better not need glasses!
-
Wait a minute, there are TWO kinds of 3DTVs? What do you call the ones that need glasses? Because it would be kinda devious if they both had the exact same name.
-
I'm pretty sure having a 3DTV means you no longer need the glasses? Because I think you can get the "normal" 3D effect from a normal screen and 3D glasses?
-
They are about 3.000 Euro and you say that's not expensive? Clearly you must be loaded! Or maybe I'm just the poorest guy here? Am I the only one here with a blue collar job?
-
You should wait until they don't cost a babillion dollars at least!
-
Whoa! Aren't 3D TVs half a million Euros ATLEAST!?
-
They also said that the adventure game was dead... I assume the reason they say any genre is dead is because that genre didn't get "famous" games: -People said adventure games were dead when Lucasarts and Sierra stopped making them, even though other companies did. -The same happened to fighting games, no Street Fighter? The genre must be dead! I'm not so sure about shmups though? It was always the more obscure genre that only hardcore gamers know about, they never stopped making shmups in Japan, but we never got any of them? Or maybe it was because we got no more Gradius sequels?

Jolly Rover, the perfect game for Talk Like A Pirate Day?
Tanukitsune posted a topic in Video Gaming
Talk Like A Pirate Day is only a few days away, so we all know that the Monkey Island games will be on sale, but... you already have those, right? RIGHT? Well then, me laddies, why not give Jolly Rover a try? As a comedic adventure game set in a pirate world filled with sea dog... LITERALLY! It's got a few influences from Monkey Island, some things might seem a little too similar to MI, specially a certain puzzle (You'll know which once you get to it) and plot-wise? It doesn't really take anything from MI, although it does feel like it took some things from it and reversed them, but I can't really say much without spoiling it... It does have a subtle MI reference at the beginning, and one which is... hard to explain? If you've played MI, when hero mentions a certain something you will obvious assume that it will be like in MI and wait for it to happen, but it doesn't, which is what you deserve for thinking it would blatantly rip-off that part(I did)! The comedy isn't too bad either, to me the funniest part is the "quest info" at the top of the screen, pay special attention to it to get an extra laugh! The greatest thing about this game is the feature that tells you if you're "done" with something, if you see the text is blue it means you can use, talk or simply talk about an item more and when the text is white it mean there is nothing more that item or person can offer (Unless it's with another item). It also has a retro feel with the score looming over you like a Sierra game, but more or less as sensible as a Lucasarts one. There is also a parrot that you must feed to get clues which I never used and a few collectibles for an unlockable gallery. And since this game is also on sale because of TLAPD, it's the perfect moment to try it out! -
So we finally get to play Radiant Silvergun without having to play a babillion dollars for it? Speaking of shooters, did anybody notice how the King of Fighters one snuck up on the XBLA yesterday without warning? It's a good time to be a shmup fan! :3

I never even heard of Yakuza 1 & 2 until I heard of the sequel, Yakuza 3. At first i thought it Sega's GTA clone, until I realized that the hero only uses his fists and melee weapons and there is no driving in it, you just walk around in an oriental town help people out and fight people... Hey that sounds familiar! I'm not the only person to saw this game is the new Shenmue, sure the QTEs are almost gone and only appear in boss fight and are much easier, the capsule machine is now a crane game, you can't talk to everybody, but you have a GPS so you don't have to ask directions anymore, but it has a bit of the Shenmue feel to it.... Kazuma is an ex-yazuka, he doesn't want to be involved in the crime syndicate anymore, but in each game something forces him to get involved, but unlike Niko Bellic, Kazuma doesn't actually go back to a life of crime, he only beat up punks and other yakuza, he doesn't do anything illegal apart from this brawling. The brawling itself is well, like a brawler! Except it has RPG elements and you have a "heat" bar that when filled it allows you do special environmental moves or item specific moves, the first time I used it, I had a daruma statue in my hand and.... I smashed into a punks head like a Kobun head in Dead Rising! AWESOME! The game is a completionist's heaven... or nightmare, there are TONS of minigames to play, fishing, pool... golf? And the towns have collectables, but fortunately they aren't as many as in other games, you just collect locker keys that actually serve a purpose and don't exist just for a trophy. I've only completed a few chapters of the game, but I'm loving it even though it's Japanese with subtitle and most people speak in text bubbles, some mini games are annoying, but they aren't necessary to beat the game!
-
They might have fixed that issue by then?
-
I also heard that you need it to scan the are for clue or something? You didn't hear about it? It's the main complain about the game! I don't mind that Samus has feelings and all that rot and I wouldn't have minded if she feared an enemy... that was exclusive to this game! If she was really that afraid of him, she would some some reaction in the other games, but she doesn't so this doesn't make sense! Imagine they made a Sonic 0 in which Sonic was more afraid of Robotnik than Scooby of a ghost, could really believe this is the same Sonic that taunts Robotnik everytime he meets him?
-
I really don't know if I'm going to get this game or not... The story seems just dreadful.... You guys know the Ridley thing, right? That doesn't make sense at all, you can't go from being frozen with fear at the mere thought of him in one game and then being cool as cucumber when you meet him in the rest.... If the made a version without motion control, I'd probably but it, but the motions controls made me despise Metroid Prime on the Wii and if you combine that with the dreadful story and acting... Yeah...
-
Yes, I don't know why but the first Condemned had me wetting my pants during the whole game... other kept me tense until I either got bored or annoyed by the game... I'm pretty sure someone said it was more emergent than the Penumbra games at least... If there is one thing that puts me out the "I want to be scared" mindset, it's the constant scary sounds, which why Dead Space annoyed the living daylights out of me... it also makes me not give a damn when the real monster appears.... "Oh, so after three hours of moaning and screams you finally bother to show up?":erm: Come to think of it, the first Penumbra game worked for me until I realized the mosnters didn't insta kill me, after that I just didn't care anymore...
-
Like I said, whatever program they use to make sure you don't have a pirated copy is constantly checking and that somehow makes the cutscenes, and only the cutscenes have audio syncing issues...
-
Come to think of it, I only beat the first Penumbra game, got bored through half of the second one and watched the rest on a YouTube walkthrough too! XD
-
I know you guys are going to hate me for saying this, but... I gave up on this at the middle of the game, not because it was too scary or stressful, but because it was annoying the hell out of me! The constant "OOGA OOGA BOOGA! I'M A SCARY SOUND! You're safe but I'm here to remind that you might not be in the future... OOOGA BOOGA!.... BOOOO, DAMMIT! MOTHERBLEEPINGBOO!" Also wasn't this game supposed to be emergent? As in, not scripted? Then why does it feel so scripted? Monsters usually appear when I pick up an important item and only leave when I do a specific thing... I'll watch a video-walkthrough to see the story, but I think I already know the gist of it... By the way, I was playing the game in the dark, but that didn't help, I only got a few cheap scares...
-
Yep, it ruins the audio syncing and makes it garbled for ALL versions, and it seems it's only absent in the pirated version from what I've googled... Apparently the constant checking of the authenticity of the game messes with the audio sync or something like that?

So... nobody has gotten this with the Adventure Bundle over at Telltale? While Jack Keane will make you regret buying the bundle, The Whispered World will make you happy you did! You think the animation of this game is bad? You obvious haven't played Jack Keane and you've been spoiled by Telltale top-notch voice actors! Sadwick is the most depressed character I've know of... He makes Strong Sad look cheerful and I hate depressing people, yet.... I found him endearing... he keeps thinking he's useless and that the worst is yet to come, yet he still has a glimmer of hope that keeps him going... What do they mean by choppy animation? That it could use a few more frames, or that it's buggy and skips a lot? Because the animation in the cutscenes is terrible... because of the "good ol'" copy protection software! Has anybody else played this? I think it's my favorite non Telltale adventure since Ceville, but maybe Jack Keane was so dreadful that anything I would have played after it would seem like DOTC...

When it comes to RPG games I'm ridiculous picky, I probably despise some of your favorites, but I just realized something.... I beat Persona 4 in Spring and it's one of my favorite JRPGs ever, easily among my top 3 and when Persona 1 came out for PSP I bought it... kinda reluctantly, since it's an old PSOne game, but... I still loved it? I did get a bit frustrated when I had to grind so I could use the ultimate Persona, but once I could all was forgiven! The thing is... How do I know if I actually like the Megami Tensei series? Was this a freak accident? :| Does anybody play these games? Persona 3 isn't out in Europe yet, but maybe I could try something from the other series? Are they similar? Frankly, I'm not even sure if anybody here knows what I'm talking about, but if would be nice to know if the other games are worth trying out?
