Come to think of it... they LOVE to remind us they used to be former Lucasarts members.... There was three Purple Tentacle references alone... MINIMUM!

I'd hate to resurrect this old thread, but I actually got the game and I loved it... The humor was good, the puzzles were good.... except... it ENDED IN A CLIFFHANGER! And I doubt they'll make A Vampyre Story 2... It's kinda sad, but it looks like most of us forgot about the game after the demo came out... I kept waiting for it to appear on Steam.. it never did... EDIT: OOOPS! It's looks like Vampyre Story too is in development after all! Autumn Moon Entertainment claims to be formed by former Lucasarts employees, but... Do we know any of them? Aren't all the famous ones already taken?

Hmm... Maybe it's randomized, but only for some letters? I could have been a bizarre coincidence that the letters I remembered stayed the same? It was only two or three?
-
Are you sure? Every letter I still remembered had the same symbol?

I think they removed another death scene Also it seems they changed the puzzles and they are more annoying now... In the new areas you have decode something, and once you crack the code and get another message.... You have to crack the code AGAIN even though it's the SAME CODE! I'm pretty sure they dumbed down a few things, and the "remastered" audio is actually dreadful in some places, the pub kid sounds like he has a five dollar mic... And the extra stuff, it's very convenient that it's an extra storyline that kinda ties in with the story, but if you skipped it you wouldn't notice at all, it doesn't affect the story at all except for some convenient internal monologues.... There was only two new cutscenes and I kinda preferred their mildly toony look they had before, so I'm hesitant to say it, but... I think I like the original better?

I don't see why it would need checkpoints, the time it takes to get from level to level is about the same time it takes to get from checkpoint to checkpoint in VVVVVV?

Stop making the people who CAN'T celebrate Halloween feel bad...

I only got one Platinum trophy for the latest Ratchet game, because it's the only game I love enough to try... I've been on fire this week, I finally beat Sonic 4, Fatale, which is more art than game, but it was interesting and kinda creepy? I also beat Al Emmo, which is like a Sierra game except it doesn't kill you as much... And Super Meat Boy... somehow?
-
I don't even want to know how the dark version of the final boss is... I don't want to have nightmares!
-
If this isn't the first actual Halloween game, it's definitely the best! Many developers release horror games in October, but this is the first game about Halloween that I can remember... And no the one based on the movie Halloween doesn't count! It's also the closest non-American will get to trick or treating! Speaking of which, I love the Statue of Liberty's special attack, it's so... AMERICA! F#$% YEAH!
-
Woohoo! I beat it! It beat the living daylights out of me, but I did it.... and there is still the dark levels and the glitch levels... Yeah... I'm not sure if I'll bother, I'm just happy to finally beat an Edmund McMillan game! By the way, I unlocked a few more characters, Mighty Jill from Might Jill Off, Flywrench... I also found the I Wanna Be The Guy level, but that was too much! Most of the other unlockable characters seem to be different versions of Meat Boy... You do get a very special version of him for collecting 100, but I have no idea of why it's special, but it better be for all the effort!

The festival should be renamed "We'll all be dead by the end of the day.. day?" Wow! I thought I was the only one who was disappointed by that game!
-
It seems that, like always, the later version will be the better one, it will be getting the Minecraft guy as a playable character... What kind of power will he have? I hate the fact that you have to beat the timer to get the dark world unlocked... I think I'll just deal with the light world first and then see if I'll bother with the dark one...

BUY BOTH VERSIONS!

Difficulty in games.. is it that difficult to understand?
Tanukitsune posted a topic in Video Gaming
I hate difficulty levels in games, to me it just looks like you didn't know how to make a balanced game, so you give us, the gamers, the option to balance things out... which is just adjust a how much health you have and how much damage you deal... The most confusing and infuriating thing about difficulty levels is that there is NO STANDARD FOR IT! You can beat "Boom Boom Shooty Shooty 37" on the hardest difficulty and yet "LOL Headshot 14" is too much for you even on easy... What's worst is that sometimes sequels can have drastic changes in difficulty... Could it be that... game developers have never tried to understand what gaming skills really mean? Surely people know that gaming skills is not just one skill, but the sum of various skills and that each gamer is skilled differently in each area? Right? I'm no scholar, but I can name a few "skills" that we gamers have: -Short term pattern recognition -Long term pattern recognition -Pattern memorization -Timing -Short term strategy -Long term strategy -Game logic -"Endurance": You can make a pixel perfect jump, but can you do 50 in a row? -Patience I'm sure you guys could name quite a few more, but am I insane to think that game developers should actually study gaming skills instead of just doing the lazy difficulty level thing? Furthermore, we all have different views on what difficulty actually is! Some of use will say a game is hard because they died a lot, even though the punishment for dying is none, while others will judge how difficult the game is depending on how it punishes you and some of us view some things as more punishing as others... They could just all start using adaptive difficulty, which is kinda a step in the right direction? So, am I the only one who thinks the whole difficulty level thing is a bit messed up? For those who think this is TL;DR I'll sum it up, you don't have mad gaming skillz, you have several other skills that make you a good gamer, but developers don't seem to care. -
I played the original saga pretty recently and I must say that so far it seems like this is Sonic Remix instead of a new Sonic game... The first stage is a remix of Green Hill, the second is a rehash of Casinopolis, the third of Hydrocity zone and the level I'm at now is a rehash of Metropolis... Even the enemies and bosses are rehashes! Sure, there are a few new ones, but most of them are just HD versions of the classic ones... You know... if the future of Sonic is going to be recycling Sonic 1-3, I'd rather go back to Werehogs... at least that had some originality in it...

At least it's a free flash game, I imported Typing of the Dead only to find out I screwed the moment any special symbol appeared...
-
It's also impossible to play for those of us with a non-US keyboard...

Difficulty in games.. is it that difficult to understand?

Most boss battles were kinda broken, nearly all of their attacks cause instant death and it's hard to tell if you're hurting them or not... -

What? And you didn't say anything about the terrible respawning in some of the boss battles? The Pied Piper fire traps are right next to the spawn point, so die 9 out 10 times when respawning.... If the Little Giant kills you by blowing you into the thorns.. you spawn in front of the thorns and die again... -

Have you played this game? It better have had a small QA test group! It one of the most broken game I've played in ages! Do you think I'm going Hydrophobia on you? YOU'RE NOT PLAYING THE GAME RIGHT! Maybe sometimes you aren't playing the game right, but that's probably because the game didn't explain itself well enough, many games leave things unexplained in tutorials and manuals... -

Yeah, that's the worst... every game should have a "New Game +" or some weapon or armor to make the next playthrough quicker... -

Except for those crazy bullet hell games, those are murder on any setting! If games were balanced playing on normal would work, but like I said before, what's normal for one game is hardcore in others.... :| -
Difficulty in games.. is it that difficult to understand?
Tanukitsune replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
No, I'm implying that in some games you won't get better if you play on easy, you're not playing the game wrong, if the enemy dies too soon you won't learn anything from the experience, simple as that? -

Maybe I'm looking at this all wrong? Maybe we a difficulty setting BUT it has the option of adding adaptive difficulty, that way you can play on easier settings if you just want the story or lack the skill, but you add adaptive difficulty in case you're new but you want to get better?
