There are few games I've been waiting for on PSP.... I first found out Persona 1 was released in Europe as digital download only... But now I've noticed more and more games that aren't for sale physically, all of them niche Japanese games, most of them JRPGs.... Cladun, Z.H.P., Fate Unlimited, Neogeo Ultimate Shooter.... A part of me is sad that I don't even have the option to get them physically, but if that's the only option, it's better than nothing... (I know you can import, but doing it when the game is available in your region seems wasteful) But frankly, I think it's a great idea to have games that probably won't sell well enough to come out as a physical game can come out as digital downloads... I wouldn't mind if ALL systems did this, except... the PSP is the system for niche games (the 360 gets a few too, but the PSP is the "King") Does America have any download games for PSP? What do you think of download only games for consoles?

Niche and indie are not the same thing, a niche game can be indie, but an indie game doesn't have to niche... Although I guess you're right, the PC does have quite a few niche games, it probably has more niche games than the PSP because it's been a system for over two decades!

Hyberbole and a Half?

Like I said before, the PSP is the last bastion for niche games... I think the pricing thing is happening for PC games too, I've seen a few games that are 19.99 digitally and 9.99 on online stores, I don't know why... maybe because digital shops have more pressure from publishers?

Frankly it's surprising they're releasing the 3DS without a big Nintendo title at launch.... unless they consider Nintendogs & Cats a system seller.... Am I the only one thinking: "DAMMIT! Release I just want this to play Shantae! Release a good game for it so I can have an excuse to buy it!":erm:

Hmm, I just realized none of the release titles seem that interesting.... maybe I'll wait for a Zelda... and to find out if that eye strain rumor is real....

I don't think that's it, the games that are being released as download only are, like I said before, the kind of game that won't sell enough to be worth releasing, but popular enough to be missed? It's usually the bigger companies who are afraid of piracy and I only saw "niche" titles from smaller companies. Most of my favorite games are on the PSP. if they asked which system I'd bring to a deserted island... I'd say .... A PC with every emulator ever, but if that didn't count, I'd ask for a PSP! I'm just trying to define the right of kind of games so people will know what I'm talking about, I'm talking about games that are retail games in some regions, but digital only in others? Should I use another wording?

Don't they always do that? The only thing from preventing me from preordering the 3DS is that I don't know whether Nintendo will do like with the Wii and make it very scarce at first... :|

I mean download versions of games that on disc in other regions, Playstation Minis and XBLA games don't count (do the PSN counterpart games have a name?)... I mean something like having Bioshock 2 only available on Games on Demand? I think maybe Europe is the only one where this happens because these games are on UMD in the US?

I met the author of My Cardboard Life at a now defunct UK convention, she had a diorama with all the characters! It was awesome! X3

Well, I just heard of another Japan only game that might interest us... Solatorobo a "spiritual successor" to Tail Conerto... come to think of it, what does "spiritual successor" mean? A sequel we can't call a sequel due to legal issues? But this game came out in October and I heard it's been localized ever, the only thing missing is a publisher I assume?

How many games have we missed out on for the DS or Wii? We tend to get them later because Nintendo would leave Europe last because they have to translate into more languages, but I can't think of any noteworthy games we've missed out on?

Does it really matter if it's region locked if they don't leave any games "behind" and most of them are available worldwide? As someone whose just ordered a few import PSP games, this would worry me, but I just realized I've only had to import one DS game... But then again, this also means that if you go on a trip with your 3DS and you won't be able to buy games, which sucks... I'm pretty sure the game I'll want to import will come out on the PSP, but still... I guess we should worry a bit....

I don't know how many of you visit or even know of Blistered Thumbs (which sounds like Idle Thumbs' arch nemesis), but they have there a "weird" game reviewer.... He has reviewed one or two legitamely werid games, but... Altered Beast? Moonwalker? Seriously? Almost every game before the dark n' gritty era is "weird", Mario gets bigs with shrooms and flowers make him a fire wizard of sorts? Sonic has a flying fox for a friend and rings keep him alive? Guybrush fights with insults? A purple tentacle is trying to take over the world? Isn't normalcy weird for games to begin with? I know every game today is burly men killing burly men, but before that games could have a ballerina badger fighting gangster penguins and that wouldn't face us at all...

Yes, Spoony is cool, I think the issue is whether we think they do this for hits or out of love for the subject? I'm pretty sure most of us here love games that have been made with love!

It's strange and also a bit sad that you need a cartoon or a skit so people will listen to your opinion on a game or movie nowadays... Although not all of them are "snarky", for example, JewWario, despite the name is nice and doesn't swear or even use special effects in this videos...

I finally played Sly 1 HD and... I LOVE IT! And no, you don't have only one hit before you die, you can collect horseshoes that can protect you! I rather like the stealth part, if you mess up, things just get harder, it's not an instant death like in most older stealth games.... Anyway, I just found Japan has three PC Engine collections: -Star Soldier Collection: The most popular shmup series on PCEgnine after Gates of Thunder.... WANT! -Ginga Ojousama Densetsu Collection: 2 visual novels and a Shmup that's very rare based on the visual novels.... from what I've heard it's worth it for the shmup alone? -Tengai Makyou Collection: 3 RPGs and fighter based on the same series, I've never played a JRPG in Japanese only, but the fighter looks cool... they do have guides for the game so I wouldn't be playing blind....

You misread what I wrote... or perhaps I miswrote? I just mentioned AVGN and that he was cruder than Yathzee (taking fake dumps on games) as an example, because people saying they were fed up with Yathzee crudeness, so I then asked how come AVGN isn't worse?

And you're putting words into my mouth! I only said that AVGN is much cruder that Yathzee, so how come he isn't much worse... to which a few people replied "Well actually, I think he is worse"... Anyway.... I'm moving along too... XP I guess we don't recognize Mario as weird because Mario is the standard platform game, it's what is "normal" for platform games? Hmm, I think I remember seeing Gameswipe once? He does seem like he'd a do a good job at angry reviewing. PS:Just because I said someone said something, doesn't mean YOU said it! People have said they disliked or even hated AVGN or Yahtzee on this thread, but for some strange reason the people who didn't think I'm talking about them... How on Earth did this happen?

Most posts on this thread are saying how terrible they are, with one or two exceptions, how am I exaggerating?

After a few steps in what I assume is 1-2 I saw a long bridge and some charred bodies.... I remembered what happened in 1-1 to get there, so... I fled?

After playing a big more... I kinda have no idea where to go next... I just discovered a guy selling spells so I might grind until I get the one I want?
