OK, so it's down to design, if the touchscreen is good enough, shouldn't you be able to play Starcraft on it? If the people who work on the are smart enough won't they be able to work around these design issues? But RTS games are whole different thing, although if the portable system had a BIG touchscreen to see all the details and a good virtual keyboard (or a real one) I don't see why it would be possible... I assume that what you're saying is that the developers won't be able to work around the console's design flaws, but isn't that their job?

I'd hate to say it, but it looks like in the next generation BOTH consoles will be very "non-portable" by your standards... Frankly, I think portable gaming might be the future, or at least it's trying to be? I you just released a new PS3 with a more powerful GPU, the average user won't notice much of a difference and will think it's not worth their money, so... why not try to make a new PSP that's almost as powerful as a PS3? You guys gotta accept that one of these days, your CELLPHONE will be able to run CRYSIS, so why not port or make a Crysis sequel for it? Of course, they'll still make "portable" games for it, although frankly I don't think the "portable" name is adequate because there are many games that fit this description that are on PC or consoles...

That still makes not as portable as you guys claim it is, you have the clues, but YOU have to remember why the clue is important.

So, the banner titles for the PSP like God of War and Monster Hunter aren't portable, but... Nintendos banner titles Super Mario and Zelda aren't portable either! Most "banner" titles are more "epic" and less portable and that even includes many iPhone games!

I'm still not getting you? Do you just want Angry Birds 3D for the 3DS or what? It's not "portable" if you half to remember too many things? Doesn't Pheonix Wright require you to remember EVERYTHING to solve the case? While Layton doesn't require you to remember anything, if you do, you can probably figure out the mystery before the game tells you... If you just want brainless fun, then there are plenty of arcade/retro collections for the PSP that you probably beat on your lunch break or commute...

If half an hour is a "manageable" chunk, then yes, almost every game I have for PSP is more than "manageable"... What on Earth do you play on PSP? Did they post Metal Gear Solid 4 for it and I never heard of it?

Um, define "manageable"? Because if you consider Mario 64 and New Super Mario Bros. "quick burst" games, then just most of my PSP shelf counts....

I can't think of any DS that could be played in "short" bursts... And the DS would have longer cutscenes if the system could handle them... Although I'm pretty sure modern DS JRPGs have long cutscenes... I just don't get the "DS has less cutscenes and shorter times between save points and can be played in shorter bursts"... what are you playing? That doesn't sound like any of the games I've played on my DS!

I don't think I get the concept of "portable" games... Why are Nintendo games more portable? Because they let you save whenever you want... They don't, so that's not it... Because you can just close the lid to make it go to sleep mode? Like it's been said before, the PSP has a sleep mode too?

No contest? What does the DS have that's so great? Mine has been collecting dust for ages! The PSP would be the system I'd take to a desert island! (Unless they'd let me take a PC with a ton of "NOT" emulators)

I just beat Sapphire... it was AMAZING! I can't believe I managed to beat it!

I beat Galaxy Fraulein Yuna 1 & 2... I didn't understand a thing the games said, yet I somehow beat them...

I recently discovered Hudson released in Japan three PC Engine (Turbo Grafx 16) collections for the PSP... If you know Hudson or the PC Engine, you'll know what I'm about to talk about and you'll expect me to say that "Oh! They are obviously a Bomberman Collection and a PC Genjin (Bonk) Collection, right? Nope, you're wrong and that's the strange part! The first collection is Star Soldier Collection, if you have a Wii you've probably got at least one of these games from the Virtual Console and that's basically the collection, the same game you get on Virtual Console, plus some special editions and some extras.... This doesn't seem that strange, but isn't the "X" of Thunder series better and more popular? It's the other collections which seems very strange... Tengai Makyo or Far Eat of Eden, is a JRPG series that takes place in medieval Japan, but has robots and cars in it... It had some popularity back in the day and it's still niche and kinda alive today, but once again it's seems strange that they choose this series when there many others people would have rather played first... The weirdest collection is Galaxy Fraulein Yuna, which is two visual novels (like Snatcher) and an obscure and niche shmup that costs a fortune to get otherwise... This is real mystery among the others because... NOBODY KNOWS ABOUT THESE GAMES! I actually got the collection and... I just can't any info or any proof that anybody has heard or played this series before... It's like Sailor Moon with battle suits... Some people have bought it for the shmup, but once again, it looks like nobody seems to know or care about the other games... Imagine if Nintendo released a Kid Icarus collection instead of releasing Mario All Stars or the Zelda Collector's Edition or if Sega released a Fantazy Zone collection instead of a Sonic one... I have nothing against these games existing and even I own two of them, but... Can anybody fathom why these were released instead of something more popular? I know I keep saying the PSP is the place for niche games, but this is getting silly!

If you play your iPhone more than your PSP, you just don't know what's out for the PSP.... I only play my iPhone when I'm waiting in line or... on the toilet? And only because I have a backlog of iPhone games, none of which I really care for... I only play my DS when Nintendo releases a game on it... Every month I get some PSP minis and PSOne game from Playstation Plus, and there is pretty good imports, and the PSP gets all the niche shmups and RPGs... If the PSP2 gets the niche market and gets all the shmups, brawlers, retro collections and niche JRPGs, it will be... the console everybody says that sucks because nobody hears about these games...

The disguise thing in Sly 3 is... disappointing? It just forces you to play a password minigame each time you encounter a guard... I wouldn't call it a bad game, but I would call it bad Sly Raccoon game? I recently beat the fanmade remake of Alien Breed called Alien Breed Obliteration and... it's better than the official episodic game? Although it's kinda annoying that each time you complete the objective for the level the self destruct sequence begins....

I can't imagine myself spending 500$ on a portable console, even if it's as almost powerful as a PS3.... I could buy a new computer for less... 400 still sounds like too much, but maybe I could go for 350$?

At least the release titles are more interesting... I wonder if it will be even more expensive than the 3DS? I hope not...

I don't think the Megami Tensei series counts, it might have an anime or manga based on the world, but they came after the games? Persona 4 was the first one I played too, I don't think many of us even heard of the Megami Tensei series before that unless you were a hardcore JRPG fan?

Wow, I didn't expect so much response! I bought some Lovecraft after playing Dark Corner of the Earth and I'm pretty sure I played Discworld before buying the books? I also bought Surfin' the Highway as soon as it was available at Telltale? I think there was more... The Dynasty Warriors games make we want to find a book or documentary about the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, which I haven't found yet?

How is it a bad game if you're the only one who hates it?

I'm pretty sure the last time this forum talked about the Sly series, you were the only one who hated it....

I just finished the Sly Trilogy.... Sly 3 was my least favorite, it tries to do too much... It has too many characters, most of them unnecessary, but I love the series overall...

I'm not sure whether to make this a day one perch or not.... When it comes to games, I wait for the price to drop, but consoles.... The price of the 3DS will only drop if Nintendo creates a new version, and you kinda want a warranty for your console so buying it used is out of the question.... Like I said before, my only main concern is that Nintendo will make up some excuse to make the 3DS scarce and that it will be the Wii all over again.... I don't want to stand in line for hours and hope I'm lucky enough to get one...

So, is anybody here actually going to make this a day one perch? Or are you going to wait for more games to be available? I think I'll wait for more games...
