Anybody want to help my with horrible internet connection problem?
Tanukitsune replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Idle Banter
I don't have those kind of cables... While the guys might be lying about the fact that I can only get that speed thought cable, why would he lie about the cable speed? He isn't the first one to say this... I do have more than one device that connect to the internet if that's what you mean? It looks my options are: A) Do nothing and stay with 10Mb while paying for 50, which sounds stupid... Get a repeater or access point which MIGHT work... C) Get the router in the same room as the desktop... The coaxial cable pin is too thick so either I can replace the "intake" area myself and hope I can do it or get the ISP people to do it? D) Go back to 20... which would probably send me connection back to 5-6Mbs... EDIT: I managed to get my hands on an ethernet cable and used that to test the laptop's speed... It was 10Mbs... WHAT THE?! I'm positive I wasn't trying the right connection because the test stopped working once I unplugged it... Now I REALLY don't know what to do... -

Hmm, like I said the cable is old... the little pin in the middle is to thick to fit into the gateway.. Would buying a new cable work? I assume the other end too think too... Or could I just get the right type of end for this one? -

Hmm, I'm feeling very stupid now, and I'm going to feel stupid for thinking this might work or for not thinking of it sooner... Yeah.... I just realized something... My room has TV cable which I no longer use because I watch TV online, but I just realized that's it's a coaxial cable... and the cable that goes to the router is coaxial too... Could it that simple? I feel stupid for asking, but I'll feel even more stupid for not asking! This cable is old and probably isn't good for what I need, but I just realized the coaxial cable for the TV in main room is the same as the internet one they even come from the same source if I follow the cable to the end? Is it possible for me to just buy the right coaxial cable and then connect that to my PC? -

ISP said I should get a tech guy... so I asked the local PC shop clerk, he told me to check the N Network setting, it was set to automatic and when I changed it... my router broke and the ISP had to send a guy over to fix it... The ISP guy came and said that neither an access point or a repeater will help and only using cables will help me... Should I believe him? -
Wow, Nintendo doesn't give a damn for, Europe doesn't it? Come on, let us have the DS' "swam songs"...

The last time the ISP came over there they tested it with a wired laptop and it worked fine... -

I'd take a stable slower connection too... I think I will call them, maybe they can make some sense out of this mess... -

When they installed they tested it by cable and it did hit nearly 50Mb? -

It's the same Internet Service Provider if that helps? -
I don't give a rat's ass about gamerscore? Achievements to me are a good excuse to play more of a game and I love when the game "rewards" me for doing something cool... it's like a pat on the head or a carrot on a stick? Game can become better if the achievements are done well, I've said many times that the only reason I loved Condemned was because I played the game with no guns because of the achievement, which made it much more fun! I'm also a bit of a completionist, And have when I can't get 100% of a game because of a stupid achievement...

I'm feeling conflicted about these current HD collections
Tanukitsune posted a topic in Video Gaming
When I heard Sly Collection was out I was happy because I never played any of those games, and while the God of War and Prince of Persia games are already in my collection, I wouldn't mind replaying them in HD just to have an excuse to play them again, but the latest rumor is that there is going to be a Tomb Raider HD collection.... Sweet! I'm pretty sure I only played the original Tomb Raider and never played the other games until the 360 ones... wait... they are saying it's a collection OF the 360 ones? For PS3? But the thing that bothers me the most is that it seems that the true retro collection might be dead... The Data East Collection wasn't even released in any other country that the US and while I'm fairly positive we'll get a Sonic / Sega collection for the next generation of consoles, but that's about it... We've gone from 8-16 bit games to PS2 and Dreamcast games, we'll probably never see a Sega Saturn collection and we all now Nintendo won't release another collection until Mario's 50th birthday, which will be the same as the 25th birthday collection plus Super Mario World... We could have a collection of more modern arcade game, or more obscure older ones, there are plenty of series that could get a collection: Bonk, Breath of Fire, Bomberman and Tekken are a few that I can think of just now and would it be that insane to ask for a digital collection on PSN, XBLA or Steam if making a physical one would be too taxing? Maybe the real issue is that unless it's ridiculously famous franchise they won't dare release a collection of their games, but then again, I'm pretty sure many people have never heard of Sly Raccoon... PS: I don't see why everybody is crying about the Mario collection, I own the original Super Mario All-Stars and it never came with Super Mario World... Either way it's worth it for the soundtrack alone! -

Would it be a bad idea to get the Splinter Cell collection as test to see if I like the series? It sounds like playing the older games will only make not want to play anymore? -
The game is four years old and nobody has topped it or even come close to it yet?
-
I played it god mode and.... Yeah.. it doesn't help much... I'm done with this game... is any game out there are "purdy" as Crysis but actually good?
-
Isn't the Android markerplace like the "Wild West"? People simply don't do anything legally there? I heard you could put broken games, illegal games, whatever you want? It better NOT be region locked, I have a big chunk of import PSP games, and I'd hate to not be able to import any PSP2 games!

Have you ever played a game based on a franchise you don't really know?
Tanukitsune posted a topic in Video Gaming
I'm sure many of us have played a game and then found out it was based on a show, movie or cartoon you didn't know existed, if you bought a European adventure it's likely to have been based on a comic you never heard of.... if you bought a Japanese game it's likely to based on an anime (and if not they is usually an anime based on the game later)... Did you know Strider was based on a manga? But I'm here to ask about when you know the game is based on a show/book/cartoon/movie/etc, one you have never seen, but you've bought the game anyway because the concept or genre appealed to you? I bought Marvel Super Hero Squad: The Infinity Gauntlet because it looked like Lego Marvel (which it more or less was), but I never watched the show. I've imported a few PSP games based on animes I've never watched, but I know they exist. What about you guys? Have you ever bought a game based on something you didn't know... knowingly? -
Like JonCole said, AngryBirds is popular because it's 99c and it's been free several times... not to mention that many iOS games are constantly resubmitted with different prices just so they can appear on the frontpage when you browse the latest apps... Many scummy things are happening at the App Store...

Frankly, I've only heard of MechWarrior, I've never actually played a "true" mech game... unless games with mech in them, like Zone of Enders?
-
Ok... I'll try that... Should I even bother to download Crysis Wars and Warhead? I got the whole package while it was on sale...
-
I'd hate to resurrect this long dead thread but now that I can finally run Crysis and play it.... It looks so pretty I nerdgasmed, but as soon as the fighting starts... Should I bother to turn on God Mode to see how pretty the rest of the game is?
-
But aren't they all used just for playing emulated games?
-
Yeah... I remember the Game Park 32... the only system of "that" type that come out commercially... It only had 4 commercial games... (I might still have it?)
-
DAMN! I just realized something... If the 3DS and the NGP are both going to be expensive... where will the niche games come out?
-
Hmm, I think the argument is mostly going in circles now... most of us are saying that many of the "banner" titles are not "portable" and we all seem to agree that both systems probably have very portable games, it's just that the PSP banner games aren't that portable... And some of the DS games aren't that portable either... The main point of argument here seems to be that we seem to have different views on what makes a game portable, to some of us, it's enough if you can fit it in your pocket and put in sleep mode if you haven't saved yet, while others say it should be in smaller chunks and more "play on the go", as in you can just turn in on and play and you do have to think to hard on what you've done before and what you have to do next... Although we do seem to agree that some games are more portable than others? I'd say we could all agree that portable RTS games are ludicrous, but Robo-pocalypse was pretty good? Do you consider notebooks portable? I wouldn't mind a super Pandora that was netbook sized... You couldn't play on the subway, but if you can play it while in the bathroom, that's pretty portable to me!
