Apart from kid stuff like the Scooby-Doo games, I have Lighthouse and Shivers, I care too much for the rest even if they are bad...

Thanks! I'll bookmark it! Are all these from SA "goons"? I see Deceased Crab was listed there, he's my favorite Let's Player! -

Really? Is there anyway I can access them without paying for an account? -
I was talking about the German site, I've used The Adventure Shop before, but that just what you have to activate it through Metaboli, it doesn't mention DRM either.
-
The first one is on some labelled boxes that you need help to access, you can't miss it unless you check the right box first, the second is when you have to meet a certain group of thugs, the jacket joke is an optional reply. The Cowboy Bebop is the only one that's actually hidden, it's on the 4th floor of the "abandoned" building. EDIT: I beat the game, it looks that the silliness was only in that part of the game. And WOW! Did I love the ending part! I can't say why without spoiling it... XP

So, they aren't going to tell you if the game has DRM? That kinda sucks...
-
I started to play and... It just had to reference older adventure games, didn't it? You'll encounter some crates labelled with the initials of some famous adventure series. I don't know why, but it always pisses me off when they do that... It's like they are yelling at us "HEY! WE LIKE THE CLASSICS! LOOK! LOOK! WE ARE REFERENCING THEM! PLEASE LOVE US!" The worst part is that this is a serious game, breaking the forth wall this way feel so much more awkward and wrong then when a comedy adventure game does it... EDIT: They do the leather jacket joke a few minutes later... I wouldn't have minded it if they at least waited a little more before hitting me with another reference... this is a serious adventure game, not Family Guy! EDIT EDIT: Seriously?... SERIOUSLY? Cowboy Bebop? And a cameo too? At least it's a sci-fi reference, but still, breaking the forth wall in a serious game is a no-no! At least be more subtle, dammit!

You can also buy if at the Adventure Shop, but... I assume it has the same security measures? Damn, after reading that list of security measures I think I'll pick up the 360 version! Does anybody understand German that can confirm that it has that much DRM?

I thought so, but I wasn't sure. Something Awful do Let's Plays? What do they do? Play bad NES games while swearing at them? -

What does SA stand for? -
I just beat Kirby's Epic Yarn, the game is adorable and fills me with the warm fuzzies, but I don't like that it's impossible to die or lose, you only get a worse score, I never give a damn about my score unless I'm going to be rewarded by something more meaningful than a bloody medal. The mini games and furniture collecting didn't help much either, but I enjoyed in the end, because I simply ignored the extra stuff.

Well, the studio behind Project Gothan Racing is closed and they were pretty good? I was being funny, the " " is the "obvious sarcasm" smiley for me. I mean it's called the "Ha ha, no!" smiley isn't it? Hmm, I don't remember the last update, but maybe I just don't do anything else until I update? I can understand your frustration with that wiki page, apart from the horrible ones like Pac-man for the 2600 the rest are classics that everybody should try to play at least once.

[Sesame Street] I guess we all have to buy a Kinect now...

Double Fine is making a Kincet game.... So maybe it's a Sesame Street game, but... It's Double Fine! I kinda wanna play as the Cookie Monster... -
Some countries aren't even listed on the PSN drop list, what are they supposed to do? Return the PS3 to the shop and say they can't use it because the EULA says so? An EULA they can only read once they've BOUGHT the console?
-
Where have you heard this? Most of my friends have a JPN PSN account and I listen to a few podcasts and shows that live in the US but play JP PSN games. I ever trying to look up if I could get in any trouble for getting a Japanses PSN account and this is the first time I've heard of this... I've also never heard of the "locking you out if you haven't updated" thing either and I can assure my PS3 logs in 10 times faster that my 360. Since when are PSN games region locked? Like I said, I know a lot of PSN users that use international store and I've never heard of this either. Any why is it a waller garden? Because it has a wallet? At least it's better than Microsoft banana points!

PC exclusives? That's a matter of opinion... You guys realize that is a futile fanboy war in which everybody thinks the other side is hopeless fanboy and won't admit they aren't fanboys because they obviously are because "Insert format here is superior" You guys think me and Thrik are hopeless console fanboys... Yeah, right... I bought a brand new PC because I think PC gaming sucks... And I think you guys are being fanboys too, you keep spewing games you like at me and brush off everything I said... DERP DERP TANU DOESN'T GET IT!

Guys, can we at least admit that maybe some developers and publishers don't want to make games for PC? elmuerte, you just had some bad luck with the whole DLC incident, the rest of us are pretty happy with PSN and XBL. It was a very rare event, that doesn't make PSN terrible. Also, you're mentioning mostly, small press and indie games or RTS and MMOs... That's not helping your cause. Aren't we getting screwed on the PC? Where the hell is Minerva's Den on PC? How many of the multi platform games are not getting ANY DLC on their PC version? Sure, Bioshock Infinite and other upcoming games will look infinitely better on PC and like shit on 360, but the PC version is likely to get NO EXTRA CONTENT! Face it guys, some developers and publishers don't like the PC very much.

This is Idle Thumbs, adventure, retro, or low-budget European games is all we're about! (You forgot RTS games though)

Pyschonauts suffered from poor sales, can you blame them for being cautious? The stakes are higher for bigger developers, they can't afford to take the same risks indie companies can. I can't really say if it's Double Fine or the publishers who are not willing to take the plunge and start developing PC games again, but I can understand why. The game industry is more ruthless now, a failure is much more serious than before, if your game is a failure and you are owned by a bigger company, it's game over for you and even if you are your own company a failure is equally dire. Not to mention that what a failure is now is much more than it was before, how many companies have been forced to close down because they got a 7.5 in reviews? More than I'm comfortable with. I'm the one here is more likely to play "bad" games and I can say that most of the companies that made a "bad" game are now gone forever. And no, I'm not implying that any DF game is bad, but the game industry is rabid pack of hyenas that will tear your game to shreds and getting 25.000 in sales when they expect 30.000 is a failure.... a "bad" game. Once again, I can understand why DF or their publisher is willing to take the risk.

If you're talking about me "hijacking" the thread, I don't see it that way, I'm talking about something Notch said in that interview and frankly, we have a piracy thread every once in a while and end up saying the same thing, we don't think it's theft, but we don't think it's a good thing. Although I admit Rodi's point is new. My own view is that people should view every pirated games as a vote for "I don't care if this company closes down or if this game gets a sequel", while there are many people who pirate because they can't afford it, or can't acquire legally for some other reason, most pirates are part of the uber entitled internet mindset that think that they deserve "everything ever forever for free". Are you a starving artist and need photoshop to live? By all means, get a copy "anyway you can". Are you spoiled brat teenager who has never worked a day in your live and wants every animu ever for free and is wondering why some many anime publisher in the US are closing because you're such a "good fan"... die in a fire.
-
The most disturbing part of what Notch said is that he suggests to "make games last more than a week" and "you can't pirate an online account". People have been pirating PAYED online accounts for ages, even some free ones get hacked! And do we need more 60+ hour games in this saturated market? Also, people pirate games because they want them, not because they are too short. What on Earth has Notch been playing for his to imply that games need to be longer? I'd kill to have 6 hour games instead of 60!
-
If you're talking about the genre and artistic direction I'll agree with you, but I don't understand why people are complaining about DF not making PC games, they only made ONE game for PC, right?
-
I'm not saying they are obstacles, but they add a lot of hassle to deal with that consoles do not. It's up to the publisher to decide if what to deal with this hassles as minor as it may be.
-
I know, all I'm saying is that I've heard one or two fiction stories that claim to be steampunk when all they have anachronistic technology.
-
Exactly! INDIE games, indie games that are SELF published and distributed digitally. If you want to reach the masses and go physical you need a publisher and the publisher will be MUCH more cautious.
