So.... I have a 3DS now and SSFIV and Samurai Warriors Chronicles, I've only played with RA cards, which were pretty awesome. I haven't found my 3D sweet spot yet, I can barely notice the 3D, I think lenticular imagine have convinced me I have to move my head to see it, I know I can see 3D since I saw Avatar in 3D. EDIT: I did a system update and saw the video they added, I definitely noticed the 3D in this one!

What a ripoff! I don't know which joke to make, so I'll make both: 1) We Dare? More like We DON'T Dare making a sexy stupid games and make a generic mini game party thing instead! 2) -Do we dare giving them something that has nothing to do with what we promised? -WE DARE!

Now that I've actually timed it, it looks like it's about four hours, which is still better than most portable systems, I don't think I'll trade it and I don't think it need a battery yet. I don't know whether to classify that as adorable or a nightmare...

As weird as the friend code thing or the lack of demos? Would that be wise when I'm going to buy a 3DS later?
-
Sure, why not? I think only a few people here actually own one and if my DS' battery keeps failing like this, I'm so upgrading to a 3DS as soon as I get payed.
-
I've asked at Nintendo specific forums and they confirm that the DSi and 3DS use WPA. I'm pretty sure it's true since my copy of Pokémon Black say if you play this on the DSi you get improved quality and security with your connection.
-
Well, it looks like DS is showing it's age because the batteries won't last half as much as they should... Is there any reason I shouldn't trade this in for 3DS? I know I'll need to trade from one Pokémon game to another, but why trade with myself only when I can trade with friends online? Unless DS games look like NES games on a HDTV I think I'll survive graphic-wise.
-
I know, but what other choice do I have? I'm going to buy one eventually, should I buy an access point or a new router just to play Pokémon?
-
Well, considering I bought Pokémon to play with my friends, I might have to buy a 3DS sooner than I thought... I've asked other and they confirms it will work! Damn you POKEYMANS!
-
Does anybody know if the Wi-fi technology is better than the DS? I just got Pokémon Black and I just realized that the DS isn't compatible with my router and the wi-fi dongle doesn't work in Windows 7 64bit at all! I'd hate to have to buy a 3DS AND and then something else just to play online!

Steve Goodie has done a bajillion Harry Potter songs, this is one of them: tytOwMLqufg If it looks strange it's because each part is done by a different animator, I actually know one of them from Deviantart! Also.... CAKE! e10Zo-2KEIM

I can't really say this game is terrible, the gameplay is fun, the sound is great, the graphics even better, but this game has one BIG problem, the main character doesn't seem to have any point at all to exist! You can pick a male or a female character, it doesn't affect nothing in the game, and the game let's you choose where to set up your base and then well, let me put an example: When you unlock the beach area and go there you start an event in which you see two pirate penguin lovers, the female thinks the male should continue being a pirate since it's his dream but the male one wants to stop so they can be together in peace, the girl says something about eggs, the male one freaks out and they leave. What do you do? You fight some monsters and then a boss, then the pirate couple walks in and the girl convinces the male pirate to continue his dream of being a pirate.... I didn't do anything to convince them and the boss was just there because... The game needs a boss? And that's the main problem with the game, it's a bunch of stories of other characters in which you don't really have nothing to do with, people talk, leave, you fight some monsters, then a boss and the characters return to talk some more. Sometimes the characters is your partners and fights, and sometimes the boss actually has an effect on their story, but 90% of the time, they are just there.... because? The hero doesn't even need to exist for the ending: Wow! I didn't know Square could make such a mess of a game story-wise... The stories aren't bad, but this game is just a bunch of stories tacked in so badly that they aren't necessary! Separately, they are good, the story would have made a good comic or anime and the game is fun despite it's pointlessness, but together... I don't think anybody would care to hear about this game itself, but the whole mess of the hero not being necessary for the story is so bizarre I just had to share it with others!

Legend of Mana: A pointless mess and total B.S.?
Tanukitsune replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
No, if the game was from another company I would have complained too, this is the most modern Square game I've played until I get Xenogears from the US PSN store, I don't know how the more modern Square is but I'm sure it's the idea itself that bothered me, you could recreate the same effect by playing a level of Super Mario Bros. while waiting for a commercial break to end on a TV show, that's how little effect I feel the hero has on the story... :| -
Legend of Mana: A pointless mess and total B.S.?
Tanukitsune replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
Huh? I thought there was a sequel, isn't there a Mana game on the DS? Like I said before, I like the game, I just can't over this particular thing in the game. I knew Square tends to make one "normal" Final Fantasy and then a "strange" one, I guess they do this to most of their series? -

It's not that nothing happens, it's that at the end it feel like nothing happened and you're at where you began. As for the world... -
It seems that when a Japanese company tries to make a game that should appeal to the West they make dark, gritty and gory, some people would call it offensive, but... Isn't it what most American games are? I've been trying to find relatively recent American games that are dark and gritty, when ever I do remember one that is actually "light", it happens to be European or Japanese. Ubisoft is French, Tomb Raider is rather colorful, but the it looks like the new game will be "dark n' gritty" too since she covered in cuts and mud the last screenshot I saw here in! Of course, there are the smaller or medium companies, Costume Quest is pretty "blue sky", but do the bigger companies ever dare make "blue sky" games? Mirror's Edge is by a big company, but it was developed in Sweden. Can you really blame Japan for making "dark n' gritty" games for the West? Can you really think of a "blue sky" game made by a big company recently? If you can was it was actually developed by an American team?

Legend of Mana: A pointless mess and total B.S.?
Tanukitsune replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
I actually did find it interesting at first, but as the game progress and I noticed that the hero wasn't necessary, it began to grate me, I find it fascinating AND disturbing, is that better? XD I LIKE the game, I LIKE the stories, I just don't like the way they combined. But frankly, I don't think the stories have any impact at all, do you even save the world? I bet if I had played this game in Japanese and didn't understand the plot I would have thought this is a masterpiece. -
Legend of Mana: A pointless mess and total B.S.?
Tanukitsune replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
I'm positive it's intentional, and I don't mind that the stories in the game feel like they should have been an anime instead, but the fact that you feel almost like an observer is rather strange and disturbing. And in the other Square games, your actions have much more consequence. If you're putting it off because it's a JPRG, don't worry, it's ridiculously easy, sure the blacksmithing and other things are very complex, but once you make a good weapon with some good ore (that you get for completing quests) the game is a breeze, I beat it in about 25 hours? -
Hey, I just realized something from what you've said! My favorite systems are the ones I didn't early adopt! Since I bought the Nintendo stuff early I never had to play catch up, but since I bought the 360 and PSP pretty late I had to play catch up and having so many games to choose from simply made the system look better in my mind! (Wait... I was an early Dreamcast adopter and I love that thing, but then again, it's a Dreamcast, so nearly everybody loves it? ) Edit: Looking at the tentative release date schedule, it looks like it won't be worthwhile to get one until August? It looks like Zelda might come sooner, but I'm pretty sure we've all played that game to death and we can wait for an actual NEW game?
-
I thought of buying one because I was afraid they'd "pull a Wii" and make it scarce on purpose to keep people interested, but it's still in stock everywhere, so I'd wait for more games too. You could wait until the 3DS Lite, but Nintendo isn't like Apple, they might release a thousand versions of the 3DS, but they don't launch a new one each year, you might have to wait a very long time. I'd wait for at least three or four games you REALLY want to be out, not just games you might enjoy. The little Nintendo fan in me is screaming at me for saying this, but why buy this now when it would just collect dust until summer? (The more interesting ones are coming out then, right?)
-
The 3DS does have a way to update it's firmware and fix this, right?
-
So playing with the 3D settings didn't help with the eyestrain? I could wait for the 3DS Lite, but it could be faraway and they'll probably just make it smaller and maybe give it a better battery life?
-
I think I might be able to afford one soon, but I don't whether to at least wait until the eShop is up so I can play some DSiware games (SHANTAE! ) while I wait for some more interesting games. Has anybody gotten any headaches from the 3D effects yet?
-
I'm pretty sure that's something nobody wants anymore.

It's probably a good idea, half the thread is about western and eastern games styles, art and philosophy the other half is talking about "happy" and "feel good" games, people are making interesting points on both of them. Speaking of eastern, western aesthetic and such seems like it still has legs, but have we exhausted the "happy" and "feel good" point? It seems that most of us agree that maybe as adults "happy" doesn't seem to fit our needs and the concept of "feel good" seems more appropriate? We can find some positivity, beauty or general good vibes in our own way?
