Tesla, The Weather Man: (It has Tesla in it)
Tanukitsune replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
Yeah, the art is almost bad, specially in the cutscenes, but this is a very small studio, only two people according to their site. -
Point cards are such a waste of plastic, I feel like I'm stabbing Mother Nature in the back several times when I buy a huge plastic case just for a card. But I'm going to buy one or two anyway. Sorry, Captain Planet!
-
Only two? I could swear there was more? Oh, now I remember! There are two versions of the original Runaway, Pendulo Studios altered the original game before releasing it worldwide.
-
As a Spanish gamer I feel kinda bad for not supporting Spanish adventure games, I didn't even know about the existence of a Runaway sequel. I guess it's because I despise Spanish voice actors? We seem to use the same ones for every game and they never seem to give a damn. I should definitely try to get this game in English. I finished D.W.A.R.F.S., which I got in the Strategy First Bundle that's going on, I'd call it a Nanobots ripoff if it didn't come out the same year. It's a level based adventure game where each dwarf has a special ability (strength, fixing things, bombs, jumping...) they must use to complete the mission. The game has no text or voice except for the cutscenes, which barely have any text at all (BAD GUY ESCAPES!), they use images instead. It was short and simple, but it had a bit of charm and if you can still get it with the coupon code, I'd recommend it.

Is it because it's lacking challenge? Speaking of challenge, I just beat Outland, which is basically a Metroidvania game with the polarity system of Ikaruga or Silhouette Mirage. The game is pretty good, I highly recommend it, it's challenging, but doable. It's sad to hear DA2 doesn't sound worth it.
-
Oh, ghettozing means "cheap"? I should have understood it with the context anyway, sorry. Man, we're really derailing the thread, I think it's safe to say the average gamer is a little spoiled? EDIT: I've played a few hours of Outland and it sure is Ikaruga-vania, it's not as ridiculously frantic as a bullet hell, at least not so far, but the bullets are everywhere and they don't stop. It's also the most challenging game I've played since Super Meat Boy or Demon's Souls.

I think I did? Were you trying to say the new 2D fighting are making the new age gamers be OK with shorter games? Or just with shorter arcade games in general? I don't think I get the "ghettoizing" analogy meaning here at all. I've never been that much of a perfectionist, while I love it when I perform well in a game and beat it without using any or barely any continues and I get a great score, I don't fret when I'm not. Think of it as a test, with limited continues you fail the test the moment you make a mistake but with free play you get to finish the test, you just get a lower score. It's either choosing between a "Pass of Fail" test or a graded one. I'm more inclined to try to "improve my grades" with the later test. It's easier, many are likely to happy with the grade they get and never take the test again, but I personally think more people will be willing to "take the test again" this way. Then again, even as a kid I always thought that arcade games should have at least a few continues. Back then I said that why would I pay 50€ for a game with no continues when I can go to the arcade and spend much less to beat the game? While I no longer have an arcade, I think an arcade game should come with some credits at least, I feel ripped off when they don't. So I guess it's more of a value issue than a challenge one?
-
While continues makes arcade games too easy, I still think they are necessary. I'd have rather have an arcade game with free play and beat using 6 continues and then try better next time, than one with 2 that would frustrate me. It's probable that I would master the game either way if I really wanted to, but I don't think modern gamers want to "master" a game unless they get an achievement for it. The unlockable credit system is good, by the time you unlock free play, you don't really need it anymore. Are you sure about 2D fighters? People are saying the new Mortal Kombat game is making SSFIV look bad because it has so many more hours of "extra content". Then again, the average gamer will whine if any game is less than 60 hours long and never appreciate the effort put into it. (We didn't appreciate the effort put in game before either, but at least we didn't whine about the length.)

Gamersgate seems to be having a 1C sale, which means I can finally buy Pathologic and Cyrostasis cheap! Oh, you can also buy a game about Tesla with a weather machine of DOOM! Strategy First has an adventure sale, three of the games in the bundle are Deck 13 adventures, which are pretty mediocre, The Abbey, a remake of an old Spanish adventure game, La Abadia del Crimen,(I remember liking the original) and D.W.A.R.F.S., I have no idea what this is about. EDIT: I forgot to say that you need the code "SFIADVENTURE" to get the discount on the Stragey First Adventure Pack.

People actually complain about the length of arcade games? Complaining that an arcade game is too short is like complaining that a survival horror game doesn't have enough ammo.... One of the reasons arcade games work is due to it's fast pace and shortness! I can't help but to notice that when they try to shoehorn and arcade game into a "full title" the game always fails miserably. In the end I got Trouble Witches Neo, I felt more in the mood for this kind of game. Has anybody else tried Outland? I do think it's relevant to mention here since it's a BULLET HELL METROIDVANIA! I also got this game since I loved the demo so much, it's from the people who made Super Stardust HD, it was a nice shmup, but I'm not fond of the arena style ones.
-
Aw, damn! Sorry, I should have payed more attention, it's fixed now! The cameo got me a little bit too excited.
-
I just beat Persona 3 Portable and it was just amazing, I'm not sure if it's better than Persona 4 though, although since this game has it's pretty awesome in my book! Damn, now I really have nothing to play.
-
I'm totally freaking out now... guess who makes ?I just saw this now and I caught me totally off guard!
-
I just found Senko No Ronde cheap in Europe too, as soon as I finish the game I'm with I'll get that and I'm undecided on those two, so maybe I'll just buy both?
-
Hmm, I wonder if Europe will get that too? It's probably much more expensive to import, but I guess you'll get a soundtrack CD and maybe some other extras with the physical game? Ooh, did anybody check Star Raider? Is it a shmup or a 1st person space combat sim?
-
Japan finally had the firmware update that should enable you to use the eShop, only to say it's coming out in June? Seriously?! I know it's just two weeks more, but I literally have nothing to play now!
-
If you liked the pre-SOTN Castlevania games, I think you'll like this, if not, then no.
-
Castlevania HD is more like the pre-SOTN games than anything else, except multiplayer, the game is ridiculously hard if you play alone and the bosses get harder the more players that join the fight! And like Sno said, you have to grind for loot, unfortunately that's all you can grind for, and the enemies drop specific items, so you can never be more powerful than the game intends you to, all you can do is wear the armor that will make you die a little less faster, like in Demon Souls?
-
Isn't it even worse? I heard on a podcast that they were selling apps that didn't even work! I also heard that it's so easy to pirate that almost nobody buys games anyway. Is this true?
-
I really wish Apple would put some quality control on the games that get released, I've seen games that steal artwork from popular games and blatant ripoffs. I use it mostly as a timekiller too, but it does have lost of potential, which feels so wasted when you see another fart button app. Sword & Sworcery is a great game, it's like a cross between Zelda and an adventure game and I'm baffled by the fact that Cave managed to pull off not one, but two bullet hell games on the iOS system and have them work flawlessly. As for time killers, I like to play Bookworm.
-
Yeah, you're totally putting words in my mouth now.
-
This thread is about bitchy thread tags, I've received a lot of those so it's only logical that I post here, were exactly did I say this was about me? It's logical that more people would talk about me since the rest of discussion was pretty much over and I'm the only person with unresolved tags issues, so maybe this thread is actually about me, because I'm the biggest "victim" of tag abuse. But were are on Earth are you getting that every thread I'm in has to be about me? Once again, it's looks to me that it's a case of I say "I like cats" and you hear "I hate dogs".
-
Yes, and I'm going to try my best to stop the ellipses abuse, but you must understand it must be upsetting to find out that part of the "tag abuse" was from this ellipses abuse that never really directly addressed, right? If people has just told me to try to use less ellipses, I would of done it, I remember a LONG time ago that someone pointed out that my writing needed more spacing instead of being one large wall of text with no pauses, so I tried my best to use paragraphs, people stopped complaining. You guys probably didn't know this but while I was born in an English speaking country, I moved while I very young to Spain, so who knows, maybe I missed something important about writing structure and grammar, so I am being completely serious when I'm asking what I'm doing wrong.
-
That quote is taken out of context. Once again, you are misreading and misinterpreting what I said and putting words in my mouth which is getting sore with all the words people are shoving down it. I've already said that I'm totally aware that this thread is not about me, but as a "victim" of tag abuse I should at least say something. I'm trying to explain that people are skimming, misinterpreting and misreading and seeing what isn't there. I say "I like cats" you hear "I hate dogs" And yes, you misinterpreted me. Blowing it out of proportion? You are seeing drama were there is mild annoyance. Frankly, you just proved my point of people skimming, misquoting, misreading and misinterpreting more "serious" threads. Which seems to be in most of my "discussion habits" lately, but unfortunately true. (And no, I'm not saying people are misreading ME, I've seen it happen to others, you're putting words in my mouth again).
-
I'm sorry, but I pay attention to the tags, and it's pretty safe to say that I'm the target of most of the "bitchy tag" abuse, whoever posted the "bitchy tag" in the Valve replay thread removed it, something they never did for me and I've been asking them to be removed for MONTHS! You seriously expect me to not participate on a thread about this issue and mention my issue? Are you saying that if someone starts a threads called ""X" happened to me.", other people who have experienced "X" aren't allowed their say? That's nonsense! If this was a thread about people complaining about "moon logic" puzzles and I made a post about my bad experiences nobody would have said a thing! This is a thread about "bitchy tag abuse", I've been experiencing it, I posted, that is all. Was this all for grammar? Are you telling me you guys are been abusing the tags and creating turmoil because you don't like my ellipses abuse? And you thought taunting me in the tags will "Tanu doesn't get it!" translates into "Ellipsis abuse"? I've actually been trying to stop it, but once again, I see people abusing ellipses in this thread too, so why was I the only target? What did I just say about people not reading and not giving a damn? I'm merely mildly miffed and people are acting like I'm about to jump out of a window. Where are getting "Woe is Tanu"? I've already said I know this thread wasn't about me, but I have to have my say in it? Considering Thunder was one of the few people on the "Lay off Tanu a bit" side I wouldn't be surprised if he meant this for other people who have gotten "bitchy tags". And these tags do create tension in the forums, remember the "positive thread" that was created after one of the "tag attacks" a few months ago? Half of the damn tags in the Sony thread are about people telling the others to leave me alone, which only made things worse. 90% of the threads I post in end in me getting tag abuse, me mentioning the tag abuse, people reacting to my reaction and people feeling uncomfortable and tense.... and it seems it also happens when I don't mention them too. Like I've said before, people are seeing drama where there is debate and "this is getting annoying" doesn't translatable to "I can't take it anymore! WAAAA!". Seriously, if this is all about ellipses change the tags to "ellipses abuse" and I'll try my best to use them less frequently, "Tanu doesn't get it" doesn't translate to "ellipses abuse", it translates to "Tanu is probably not that smart, but I'm not going to say it".
