Since the Japanese PSN store, this is the perfect time to resurrect the thread since we can finally buy import shmips from them again! I had some money left over from before the PSN was down so I got Blaster Master (on the Sunsoft Memorial Series), which is run n' gun (Close enogh?) But I'm so going to buy some shmups when I get my next PSN card!
-
On relatively related note, I just got G.G. Series Collection + in the mail, which is most of Genterprise's DSiWare games on one cart. I'll post what I think of the game as I unlock them, apparently I can only play four of them at first?

Woah! 100 percenting a Rockstar game does deserve some major congratulations! I played the whole Rebirth series on Wii Ware: -Contra Rebirth: It felt so mediocre after playing Hard Corps Uprising... -Castlevania ReBirth: Wow, this is so bland and uninspired! -Gradius ReBirth: The only half decent one in the bunch. (Insert jokes about "ReBirth? More like "ReHashed/ReHeated Pizza/Regurgitated/Really? You thought this would please the fans?" joke here) I also played Adventure Island The Beginning, which completely breaks the game by adding a shop to buy new abilities. Having the ability to double jump and glide combined with upgradeable weapons makes the game almost too easy! Then again, I guess it's the payoff for having the skill to collecting the upgrade items?

You're so right about Capsized, it took me ages even to figure out how to beat the final level! But it was worth it! I beat Fallout New Vegas, which I ruined for myself because I convinced myself the game would end when the main mission ended, but it was just the start. Even though I know it wasn't true a part of my brain thought the game should have ended then, but since it didn't I felt kinda frustrated for the rest of the game. I also beat "Contra" Hard Corps: Uprising. I don't know why the took out the "Contra" out of the name since the left the music cues and power ups from the Contra series. The only difference is that you don't fight aliens, but it's a Contra to me anyway... A very awesome one too! Since it was made by the crew behind Guilty Gear and BlazBlue it looked gorgeous and it a frantic roller coaster of fun until the end!

Half Minute Hero is a dream come true to anybody who wants to play JRPGS, but doesn't have 200+ hours to spare. As the name implies you have a 30 second time limit to prevent the bad guy from casting a spell of doom that will destroy everything, except... You'll never really beat in in 30 seconds! Fortunately the Time Goddess is here to help and for a fee, she's a greedy lass, she'll restart the timer but each time the fee with be bigger and bigger until you will be unable to make enough money in time, but you probably won't need to reset time that many times.... The game is ridiculously fun and funny, but it doesn't seem to be making fun of JRPGs, which is what I was expecting it to, and it's fun to discover than most levels, the game has 30, have more than one way to be resolved, maybe you'll rent a boat and cross the ocean? Or maybe go through the longer trail through the mountains? Also the game is nice enough to tell you when you're strong enough to best the boss of the level. The controls are ridiculously simple, when you enter battle you fight automatically, but you can dash to make the fight go faster, which reduced your HP, you can also dash out of battle. The game is also nice enough to stop time in town to buy equipment and herbs, you can only carry one, but you never need more than one. You'd think 30 levels isn't enough for a retail game, well... it doesn't end there! The game has two more modes, each one takes place 100 years after the other and is different from each other... Evil Lord 30 is a basically a strategy game in 30 seconds, you play as a not really evil summoner who can summon fast, strong or long range units, it's rock, paper, scissors except the longer you wait, the bigger the summon, and if you get hit, you MP reduce and you can't summon as easily as before and obviously the Time Goddess is here to take your money to make time go back and any money left will go to leveling your character. Princess 30 is a shooter, the princess has a 30 second curfew and a legion of soldier, if she gets hit she loses soldiers and slows down, but once again the Time Goddess will gladly take your money to turn back time. And like most shooters, it has power ups if the form of fairies... Once you beat the first three modes you unlock Knight 30, one of the more interesting modes. In this one, you're a knight resurrected by a sage who asks you to protect him while he goes on a quest to save the land with his spell of doom that.. you guess it! It takes 30 seconds to prepare! As a knight you must protect the sage from monsters until he can banish them with the spell, you can't defeat them, you can only stun them, you can also get the sage out of the way, but while he moves he can't do the spell. If you die you can be resurrected by the sage, but I didn't die that much. Another interesting thing is that each night before the battle the knight can spend some time making traps, but since he sleeps less he has less stamina and hit points... and frankly I prefer not using the traps, although they do make some levels much easier.. In this mode the Time Goddess is dead, but that doesn't matter since you're supposed to survive 30 seconds instead of finish your goal in 30 seconds... After beating this mode you get the grand finale, it's the same as the first mode, only with a 300 second limit and no Time Goddess, which makes it the most interesting and challenging mode yet, since every area has it's own time limit and you will lose if it ends and you're still in it. And if you beat it you get a full ending and a special extra mode.... THREE SECOND HERO? Thank God this isn't part of the story and it's just an extra challenge, because this is just too much! You only have enough time for ONE battle to make enough money to reset the timer... All I can say this is the most fun I've had with a jRPG in ages, although I barely play them to begin with....

Bit Trip Runner fo 2€ is tempting, but aren't they releasing the whole series on Wii and 3DS in Bit Trip Complete?
-
This doesn't make any sense, if he trademarked "Trench" then why can't they release a game named "TrenchED"? Does this mean he has claim on any product with the word "Trench" in it? I thought it had to be the exact same name?

Steam Sales are not as scary as they used to, the only things we have to fear are the new game on sale since the last Steam sale. (OK, OK, I'll admit I'm terrified and excited too anyway)
-
I think I vaguely remember playing the Gamecube version, enemies do more damage, many things have changed placed and the world is mirrored? I love Ocarina of Time, but so much that I'd play "play it on Hard" specially right after beating it. I heard it's harder for people who know the game well since it changes things in way that's harder for people who knew what to do in normal mode.
-
They actually tried to fix some of the temples issues, the Water Temple is much easier now thanks to the lines that tell you where the switches are. Except for the bongo boss, I found all the rest of the bosses easier than I remembered. Also, the bongo boss seems so out of place in this game. My only real issue with Ocarina of time is how useless money is, you only need money if a Like Like eats your shield robe, but the last time I got attacked by one it actually dropped the shield it ate! It's such a contrast to Link's Awakening, where you have to grind forever to get enough money for the bloody bow!

Woah! He retweeted it? That's a good sign! Broken Sword didn't need a zoom function for when you had to pixel hunt? All other adventure game ports to the iPhone that I played needed one. It looks the "company" behind this is Bazinga Studios, which only has a Facebook page, which is even fishier. Who knows, maybe it's actually formed by people who actually worked on The Neverhood, but that doesn't mean they have any rights to make the game. The red tape they'll have to deal with might be a nightmare? But now that Doug has given the whole project some veracity, I'm feeling slightly less skeptical.
-
Why does it say it's going to be for "mobile phones"? It might work on an iPad, but I don't see it working that well on a smaller screen without a zoom function. I smell shenanigans! How come Doug Tennapel hasn't said a word about this yet? How come they aren't following Doug and viceversa? Maybe this is just some fan trying to get The Neverhood on mobile phones? A fan of The Neverhood who doesn't know who Doug Tennapel is... And wants it on "mobile phones"? Not to mention that the screenshots are not from the "mobile phone" game, the fool is posting photos of the soundtrack and the PC CD, that doesn't make sense even for possible unlockable bonus features. I'm going to say either this is a very silly / insane fan or a troll.

I think it all depends on which order you do the first tasks, before the patch was out people claimed that doing the glass house worked.
-
It's a non-Valve game, of course it's buggy!
-
I got the same damn bug, don't worry, it works even if you saved at the glass house. Although it is strange that TT would let such a huge bug pass by?
-
I've just beaten Ocarina of Time 3D and I don't remember Ganon being this easy, I never needed to use a potion in the final battles once! Also, has anybody noticed how rupees are almost useless in this game? But besides that, this game has stood the test of time!

Hmm, you're right. It looks like Europe is getting some VC games a week before the US? Maybe it's to compensate the lack of DSiWare games? And you're right about the other thing too, all we get is screenshots. You could google for the game's info, but you shouldn't, it should be there. Those were some crazy times... since we didn't have any video games to play back then, all we could do to pass time was conquer each other. Sometimes I get the invasion itch when it's "dry season" in the release schedule.
-
Is it me or is the eShop terribly messed up? Can someone please confirm that the US and Europe are getting completely different games for the Virtual Console? I hear the US got Tennis and actual DSiWare titles while Europe got Double Dragon and some Battleship rip-off. Is this true? Why on Earth would Nintendo do that? You could claim that maybe it's a copyright issue, but Tennis is from Nintendo and was released worldwide, it makes no sense for them to do this.
-
I finally beat the game! HUZZAH! Wasn't there a thread in the multiplayer network section for this game? Maybe we could organize a game there? Although I think it was for the Steam version.
-
*facepalm* I can't believe I mispelled my own username... It's the same as my username here! KITT seems almost too good since I'm now only 6 wins from the next license thanks to him, but since I have the same name as the pilot I want to use him anyway!
-
I just realized the game has the Ghostbuster's car, K.I.T., the DeLorean from back to the future and some other car I can't recognize... I MUST HAVE THEM! The DeLorean hovers and everything!
-
I'd hate to resurrect this thread, but it took me a while to get my hands on this game since it never came out in Europe. This game is just a nod to the 80's in so many ways, the magazines are great and the way young Arino acts represents the mentality of most of us in that era of gaming. And the games are so well made, I could almost believe they really existed, almost... I refuse to believe that drifting and drift boosting existed back then, such a concept could not have existed in that era! And sometimes I feel the pallete is a bit off, some of the colors I see don't look right for a NES game. I'm at the final challenge, and I'm having a blast!
-
I've reached the A driving license and it's getting much more challenging. It looks like the faster I got the easier it is to crash? What does "strength" mean? How many times you can crash? How much damage you can take before you crash? Thank God I left all the burning routes for last, these are much easier than the other races! Feel free to add me on PSN (PSN-ID: Tanukitusne), although I'm not good enough to race online.
-
I've played more and it's finally getting challenging, I actually had to use one of those suicidal cliff jump shortcuts to win the last race! I'm also getting the hang of the stunt races! So, NFS: Hot Pursuit is like a Burnout game, but the rest of the series isn't?
-
It's a Game Boy only game, I think it's the first game in which Mario can triple jump? It's like a sequel to the arcade game, and the first "Super Game Boy" game. If don't have it I'd recommend it! I've heard the US has more than this, is this true? It would suck if Europe got the shaft so soon! Either way, it doesn't bode well to only see one Game Boy game released this week.
