  1. Deadly Premonition

I only noticed that when I say someone else's Let's Play, when I pointed out, very vaguely, without saying exactly what it was... People actively looked for it and then got angry at me for being spoiled.
  2. Catherine

Hmm, after what Sno said I wonder if Catherine WAS going to be a visual novel, but they realized it needed more action in it for it to be released out of Japan?
  3. Nintendo 3DS

They say it's all free, but it's likely to be games we already own for real or on the Wii Virtual Console, speaking of which... This weak we got in Europe... BASEBALLL!
  4. Catherine

I don't think they translate their games to other European languages, my Spanish copy of Persona 4 is in English, so I expect the Spanish version of Catherine is in English too? I just don't think they can afford to translate games into more than one language?

Sweet Mother of Mothra, I think I know which game from the Steam sale I'll play next!

I beat Ancients of Ooga which is kinda like a cross between the Lost Vikings and Overlord? You control some ugly buggers that are most willing to give up their lives to their god and the game is mostly trying to get them or some item to an altar for sacrifice or getting an Ooga or item to a certain area. Each tribe has it's advantages and weakness, but the game does seem rather unchallenging. Garshap is the Persian God of War clone, except Garshap is based on a real Persian myth, it's very so-so, very linear, I almost 100% the game without even trying (I missed one health upgrade). Since it's short, about four hours, it doesn't give the game time to get boring or annoying... Except maybe for the cliff sections, Garshap plunges his knife into walls and slowly drops to the floor in some areas, but you have to dodge left and right while dropping to avoid areas that damage Garshap.

The Humble Bundle is back! VVVVVV, Cogs, And Yet it Moves, Crayon Physics and Hammerfight!

Maybe mediocre games are more palatable on easy mode? Then again, I must confess, that since I heard this game was pretty bad, I looked for cheats and unlocked the super gun. One hit kills with gibs everywhere make a game a bit more fun. Come to think of it, the last "stinker" I played that everybody hated was quite fun when I found cheat codes for it too. A broken game is more fun when it's you doing the the breaking? But Dark Sector was truly fun, no cheats, no easy mode, just jolly good fun.

I played Dark Sector and... I had lots of fun playing it! The story is rather silly with the "Guyver zombies", but I really had fun throwing the glaive around and wrecking hacov. The normal weapons aren't that necessary, I just bought the one handed uzi and used all the upgrades I could on it and I don't think I ever used the last weapon I bought, it's just one of those "it's not the best, so it's the worst games" I suppose. For the price I got it on the Steam sale it was a great purchase! And then I beat Damnation, the "steampunk" game, which to me isn't that steampunk and more of a sci-fi western, and I consider Wild Wild West Steampunk! I know steampunk is anachronistic, but that's not enough, it has have a certain look and style. Gamewise, it was just OK, it has some good moments, it's fairly straightforward, but the story is just silly. In a steampunk story the heroes were almost anti-industrialism and too eco-friendly at some moments. Not half as fun as Dark Sector, but not actually that bad, but I can see why some many people hate it.

Some 360 games are region free, I have an US 360 copy of Soul Calibur IV that works in my EU 360. I don't know if it's any compatibility charts, but you should check it out before losing hope.
  11. Catherine

Aren't all PS3 games region free? If it doesn't come out here, I'll buy the US PS3 version.
  12. Collector's/Special Editions

I thought it was coming with a Catwoman statue? That reminds me, has anybody bought the C.E. of the Telltale Monkey Island series? I heard it came with a lot of neat goodies.
  13. Collector's/Special Editions

I got the Digital Deluxe Edition of Mafia II when it was on sale on Steam, if that counts, but the last physical one I bought was Dead Rising 2, which came with a pen that looks like Zombrex and a "making of" DVD, kinda lame, but it cost me as much as the normal edition. I use to buy more C.E.s a long time ago, but they take up too much space and aren't worth the extra money to me anymore.
  14. Radiant Silvergun XBLA

The second ship lets you aim the secondary weapon when you press it's button, but I never found it that useful. The charge ship shoot very strong balls of energy, the more you let it charge, the more damage it does. The final ship is for experts only, it makes the bullets explode which does seems useful, but if you keep both buttons pressed at the same time you do a ridiculous amount of damage to anything right in front of you, it's very risky but rewarding if you know how to use it? I never bothered with it.
  15. Radiant Silvergun XBLA

I got Jamestown on the Steam sale too, but it felt awkward to make a post since the last one was mine too. Jamestown is ridiculously amazing, it puts ALL doujin shmups to shame and even a few classics too! When I first played the game on normal and found out that I had to play the whole thing again on difficult and then AGAIN on Legendary, I was kinda pissed, but like you said, replaying the levels with increasing difficulty makes you learn how to play the game, I still hate the final level, the traps were rather annoying, but I eventually beat the boss and... obviously he had a second form which killed me instantly, but eventually I beat him and it felt SOOOOOO GOOD! My only complaint is that the store is useless pretty early in the game, some people won't be good enough (or patient enough) to see the real ending, so maybe they should have added the option to buy extra credits or lives? Or unlock more credits after a few hours of gameplay? I can't believe I made it to the final level of the game without knowing that cancelling the vaunt give you a small shield for a sec. This could possibly be the perfect shmup to introduce people to the genre... Who will be confused to see all other modern shmups have goth lolita 12 year olds. PS: Which ship is your:tup: favorite? I love the charge one!
  16. DSiWare

I wish I could have gotten the G&W DS collections, but in Nintendo Europe they were gone before I could get enough stars to buy them. They only have 3 games in them, right? The Game Boy ones had at least five, and those had both the original and a remake with Mario characters.
  17. DSiWare

Wanna trade? As much as I love Picross, I love these Game & Watch collections even more! Also, you lucky bastard get Netflix! We get three 3D videos to watch, and only one isn't 3DS related!
  18. I'm surprised nobody has created a post for this game yet? Comic Jumper: The Adventures of Captain Smiley is the adventures of a cancelled comic book hero, Captain Smiley, who jumps into other comics to do cameos and help them out until he has enough money to restart his own comic. I'm not entirely sure, but from what I've seen in the extras section, it seems that Captain Smiley is a real comic hero, probably created by someone on the Twisted Pixel team? Would they go so far to create a comic that's only readable as an unlockable that looks like it was done by a teenager? Anyway, the game mosly plays like a run n' gun, with some brawling sections and some sections on rails, but you're mostly shooting things all the time. The game has four sections, the original Captain Smiley comic, a fantasy Conan-like section, the Silver Age era and... shoujo manga? Seriously, the shoujo section is the mostly hilariously insane thing I've seen! I can't really say much about the game without spoiling the jokes, which are the best part of the game! I do advise you to invest in the bonus material instead of the upgrades, because they increase the amount of money you receive at the mission, it triples once you have them all.... and one of the extras is more Splosion Man levels! Speaking of the money you get, what you receive depends on how you perform, if you lose too many lives, you don't get a bonus in that section, but you get one if you beat the level quickly, beat a certain section without getting hit, kill everything, etc, etc.... People seem to say this game is hard... Sure the checkpoints aren't as frequent as you'd want them too, but that's about it, I never died that many times per level.... Oh, and apparently the guy who voiced Vegeta and Piccolo voices Captain Smiley and Star? And did I mention how hilarious the extras are? That's about it!

I just beat I-Fluid. Don't bother with this game, while the concepts are interesting, you control a drop of water that must avoid items that soak up moisture and reach the goal, and as you advance in the game you learn can jump and climb and... control fruits? The problem is the physics are busted in this game, the drop of water controls like a drop of oil and everything feels like it's moving wrong. At least when you beat the game you can control a giant watermelon and run over cardboard cutups of the programmers.
  20. Retro Game Challenge

They are all games you can get on Virtual Console? They are games that are more like to be remembered by Western retro gamers?
  21. Retro Game Challenge

It also looks like they are hand picking the episodes that would appeal more to the Western audience, I highly doubt they'll ever show Arino playing a relatively obscure game. Now that I know what I'm missing, I beginning to think I should look for a fan dub of the show instead of Kotaku's version.
  22. General Video Game Deals Thread

I don't know why but everybody was having trouble downloading games on Steam last night? I guess we all bought the same games at the same time, because I only had trouble with the more popular games? Duke Nukem Forever was number one in sales for a few brief moments, which just goes to prove that the lower the price, the more willing some people are to put up with a potentially low quality game.

The prize for winning the raffle is getting your top ten games in your wishlist, right? But... How many of us are going to have anything left once this sale is over? All I have in my wish list are indie games under 10$ that I intend to buy on the final day once I'm sure they're not on a special sale.

Has anybody redeemed the Summer Sale Tickets for a prize? Does spending them on that means you lose the chance to use them in the raffle?
  25. General Video Game Deals Thread

Divinity II is finally on sale, but it has Securom and an installation limit and yet... I'm still tempted to buy it. Also, I just noticed that Steam doesn't have Pandora's Tomorrow in the Splinter Cell bundle, which is weird since you can get it in HD collection.
