  1. The sneaky stealth game thread.

While I love the story of Metal Gear, Splinter Cell has better tension IMHO, the threat seems more real, Splinter Cell is fiction, while Metal Gear seems like science fiction... Hackers and bio-chemical warfare vs. mechs with nukes, vampires and a guy possessed by a dead man's arm. Japanese stealth games don't seem to punish your lack of stealth, which is probably why I was so terrible at non-Japanese stealth games at the beginning, in MG if you get spotted you can easily fight your way out of it, in other games? You stand a chance, but you're likely to die. At least, that's how I remember Metal Gear.
  2. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

I've still got a dungeon or two left, but I think it's safe to say this is all you get to see of him in this game?
  3. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

    Tingle cameo!
  4. Life

They broke into our store... PRO-TIP: Don't have your store next to a jewelry shop! It was relatively well planned, for days our front door didn't close well, so anybody could enter, and guess what? The boiler room is right next to a fishmonger's, which is where they made a hole to access the marketplace. And this is where it gets a bit confusing... Obviously, you never break into a jewelry shop from the front, that's where the alarms and security is, so they broke into BOTH stores that were next to it! And that's what's confusing me... why both? The police didn't let us enter the stores, but I could see the other store had damage, but that store was close and had been broken into before with the same plan. As for our store? We have those metal curtain things, but the lock was broken a long time ago, so we use hooks to keep them in place. They had to break the lock in the front door and crawl in, so at least we made things harder for them? I could see they didn't take our change and the cash register was closed, but they left the meat freezer room open all night and the meat might be ruined. "Fortunately" they made the hole in the storage room in the back, but that hole leads to another storage room and that one leads to the jewelry store... Did they robbers really know what they were doing? It seems they got away with the jewels, but it seems to me they only knew to avoid entering from the front and just used guess-work to get to it from the sides. My mother says you could make a whole in the maintenance hall and access it easier, but that doesn't add up, I'm pretty sure the back of the jewelry store leads to the storage room I mentioned before, so there isn't and wall left for that? And the thing is... I'm kinda fired, yet I still work there, what happens to me? There are going to be people there, either police or someone to fix the hole they made, and... I don't even know if what I'm doing is legal or not... Some tell me working a few hours a week while being unemployed is OK, specially since I'm not getting any unemployment checks? I also heard we might have been in the middle of switching insurance companies, so I don't even know if we are covered?
  5. Blocks That Matter: An Ode To All "Blocky" Game?

Aren't the levels short enough to not need check points? The hardest one I remember is the lava one and that's just one screen.
  6. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

I think I'm getting the hang of the WiiMote Plus and the combat in general is becoming more fun and rewarding. I wouldn't say I have too much money, because there are items I can't afford yet, but in every temple I've been I've had to leave to buy something to empty my wallet. There is a guy who buys the bugs but he only buys three types of bugs at a time, and it can get annoying to get all the bugs sold. The game has a limited inventory of sorts, you have a pouch where you carry your shield, bottles, extra ammo pouches and other non-essential special items. The game actually analyzes your inventory and says how well suited it's for the area.
  7. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

So.... am I the only one who has played the game? It seems like they took a bit of each Zelda and put in a blender and make a delicious smoothie of ADVENTURE! I can't say too much without spoiling, but I feel like I have to re-calibrate way too often, the sword never seems to swipe exactly like I want it to. And the thing that is really bothering me is I love the beetle, it's like remote boomerang, but slower. The bird (did it have a name?) is half Epona, half boat? The sky world doesn't seem to have that much to explore compared to Wind Waker, but I think it's balanced by having each area itself having a lot to explore. Story-wise, I don't know where it's going, but mechanically and gameplay wise the menu's blanks practically tell you what's going to happen. The game also seems to be more forgiving in a way? I died in a middle of a dungeon only to notice that all the progress I had made had NOT been lost. And the bug catching is the new fishing, it should be stupid, but I'm having fun doing it! The upgrade system is pretty decent, not too complex or not too much, you can only upgrade each item a few times and you only need a few items to do so. It's strange how most things seems to be modified or taken from other Zelda, yet it feels original. One final spoiler: Oh, it also made laugh quite a few times!
  8. Telltale Jurassic Park

I guess as the only Dragon's Lair fan (A.K.A. linear Heavy Rain), I'm the only one who liked it?
  9. Telltale Jurassic Park

I heard it has a drop rate of 0.001% when killing golden T-Rexes, but I haven't had time to confirm it.
  10. The sneaky stealth game thread.

Sound AssCreed count? It barely rewards you for being stealthy and it never let's you kill a target and get away scott-free.
  11. The new Mario came is coming out! And the Tanooki suit is back! HUZZAH! But PETA thinks Mario is a sick monster and the the Tanooki suit is actually made of Tanuki fur... And made a game about it! The video of tanukis getting killed is so sick it was taken of YouTube, but I was stupid and looked for it and found an alternative... Don't make the same mistake... Apparently some sick monsters actually do skin tanukis alive for fur, but... WHY THIS?! What Mario wears is costumes! COSTUMES! Tanukis and frogs don't come in this size, dammit! I'm pretty sure I'm falling into their trap by talking about, which is what they want, but seriously.... tanukis? PETA is all about "don't wear fur", but who the hell wears fur anymore? Rich people who don't give a damn. Does PETA actually think anybody will watch the video or play the game and think: "Wow, I was about to buy a 5000$ tanuki fur coat, but I guess I shouldn't because it's wrong!" I must admit, I wasn't aware people even used tanuki fur and I find this pretty upsetting, but let's face it.... What does this change? Has PETA done anything besides pointing fingers? Don't they kill the animals they rescue if they can't find a home? But seriously, I hope Nintendo sues them or something, unlike the other games this one make Mario look like a monster, something I don't like will please Nintendo... (The guy with "tanuki" in his username is upset about PETA claiming Mario kills Tanukis? Well, I never!)
  12. PETA are sick @#$%ers (Mario kills Tanookis)

Well, I've beaten the game and found out that Mario was never wearing the Tanooki Suit after all, it's actually a full Raccoon Suit! I know this because the first power up you pick up in the "Special" world is the real deal, it even let's you turn into a statue! The only difference is that this suit looks like a coon with an ascot. Or maybe the game has two different versions of the same suit? The game doesn't actually have a manual, so it doesn't say what the name of each power up is.
  13. PETA are sick @#$%ers (Mario kills Tanookis)

Kotaku claims the PETA is backing down a little and that it was "tongue" in cheek, and was more about tanuki fur than tanooki suits. I'd link to it, but he didn't give a source, so I have no idea if the story is true.
  14. Telltale Jurassic Park

It seems I'm the first the play the game, since everybody else is playing Skyrim. So far, it's Dragon's Lair/Heavy Rain and I'm using a controller for the PC version, so I don't know how it will play with a keyboard and mouse yet. It seems to take place at the same time as the movie? They just briefly mentioned people who could possibly be the people from the movie? I don't remember the movie that well, so I'm not sure. If anybody cares I'll give an update. EDIT: OK; I'm loving it so far, there is no walking, I've never played Heavy Rain, but this is like playing Dragon's Lair with puzzle elements? If you beat a section without making a mistake you get a gold medal, but each miss decreases the score. The puzzles feels "Telltale-ish" simple, but rewarding, and they need to be simple, you don't want to spend half an hour on a puzzle, I'd kill the dramatic tension of constant dino threat. I'd really wish I could play more, but I just got Mario 3D Land and Skyward Sword in the mail so...
  15. PETA are sick @#$%ers (Mario kills Tanookis)

Am I the only one who can't afford Skyrim? Um... I mean... Of course I'm playing Skyrim! I'm playing as "Shamus Fisherus" and I'm killing every terrorist dragon in sight, with my mighty gun magic!
  16. PETA are sick @#$%ers (Mario kills Tanookis)

Don't worry, Skyrim will eventually get it's crappy PETA ripoff soon enough! You'll play as a dragon who slay humans and wear their heads as a helmet! But seriously guys, PETA is right, eating lifeforms is WRONG! That's is why you should stop eating lifeforms with cute lil' face and eat veggies, they have no face, so eat them guilt free! WHILE THEY ARE STILL ALIVE!
  17. The sneaky stealth game thread.

I guess stealth when it's more tactical, it's less fun the second time because you already know what to do? But I loved the first Splinter Cell the both times I played it. Hmm, I think Metal Gear might be one of the reasons I didn't like Splinter Cell the first time I played it, since it wasn't like Metal Gear I got confused, panicked and gave up? That sounds like me back then. Can you play any of the older RPGs in a stealthy way? Can you sneak and backstab everything or do you just become the guy with high agility that throws knives?
  18. PETA are sick @#$%ers (Mario kills Tanookis)

Oh.... Rage fueled Tanu has +20 in ellipses abuse and overenthusiastic punctuation! Rage fueled Tanu with crush lonely puny period unless it's in a ellipses mob! (They have pitchforks and torches!)
  19. PETA are sick @#$%ers (Mario kills Tanookis)

What exactly did I do wrong? I know punctuation isn't my forte, but I seriously have no idea why that period is a mistake. Also, the game is pretty terrible, it's basically a Cananbalt clone. Also, if Mario is wearing the tanuki's fur, they when does that fur have ears if the tanuki still has them? *nitpick*
  20. The sneaky stealth game thread.

Wow, I'm loving Pandora Tomorrow so far, the train level was epic! It seems to have improved a little too, enemies aren't as sensitive, but to counter it, it's easier to trigger an alarm?
  21. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

OLrE4QAm9h4 I don't why, but this is hilarious!
  22. The sneaky stealth game thread.

Isn't SWAT kinda a sequel to Police Quest? I think I have the first game in the Police Quest Collection. All I remember the Sargent yelling at me for skipping the intro.
  23. The sneaky stealth game thread.

OH MY GOD! They better not patch this!
  24. The sneaky stealth game thread.

Isn't the fact that you're so powerless, yet you still survive why it's so appealing? Then again, that's pretty badass, so I guess it is a power fantasy in a strange way. Speaking of ninjas, I just remembered those ninja games for PSone, I can't remember the name, but weren't they the only ninja series in fix you actually had to use stealth? Is Commandos a stealthy game? I'm pretty sure I own that series! I had completely forgotten about that series, isn't it more strategic and about a SWAT team?
  25. The sneaky stealth game thread.

Well, that's part of the HD collection, but it comes after Pandora Tomorrow, right? I'd hate to get spoilers by playing them out of order, although I'm pretty sure that
