I got the iOS remake yesterday and beat it, I don't know how much they changed it from the original, but I'm sure they did change a lot. First, no lives. I doubt modern gamers would put up with a game with a few lives and no continues. The only places you could die where pits and water, if the game had enemies originally they are gone. I'm sure a few things have changed place since it's no longer screen based and there are new items, once again, I haven't played Prince of the Yolkfolk before, but I'm sure there wasn't an MP3 Player as one of the red herring items. You have to pick up cherries to make a pie and become prince you can wake Daisy with a kiss. And picking up stars give you "60 seconds before the next hint", but either that feature is broken or I never needed them? The stars are the score and it decreases as time goes by, so maybe you don't have limited lives, but you can try to max out the score by beating the game as fast as possible? Since I was aware this was a remake of a very old game and I knew what kind of gameplay to expect I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure how this will appeal to people who have never played a Dizzy game before, I'm sure it would do better than a normal Dizzy game since this has unlimited lives. The game's logic was kinda straight forward, except for the cage, I had no idea where to use it and got it by dumb luck.

I picked this game on Steam yesterday and I could just call it "Tetris + Minecraft" except it's more than that! The story is... kinda silly? Two game developers are kidnapped because they were working on something very awesome, except it's not a game it's a little robot called Tetrimo, a robot with Tetris powers. You unlock more powers as you progress, but you can can drill and head butt blocks to destroy and collect them, once you have four you can create something with the four blocks, as long as it's "Tetris" shaped. Each type of block behaves differently, sand falls down while sturdier blocks stay where you put them. Each level has a hidden chest with an important block from gaming history, for example, I'll just say that you have to like think Super Mario Bros. to find the Super Mario Bros. block! Although sometimes you have to return to a previous level with a new power if you want to collect them all. And for extra challenge you get a star if you beat a level by using the minimum amount of blocks, or you have to have the maximum amount of blocks and use as little of them as possible to reach the exit of the level. The game has about 40 levels, plus the bonus ones, so they game will last a while, specially if you want to collect the extras and even more if you want to get all the stars (I'm just going to collect the secrets blocks myself). It's only 4.50€ on Steam now, so why not give it a go?

It seems to me that the site that sell the cheapest and ship free everywhere tend to have worse costumer support. Play.com used used to be great, they didn't make it so hard or cumbersome to fix any issues you had with them, but I guess either they lost too much money or people took advantage of it. I kinda did it once... I got a damaged game once and since it was so expensive to return the game, I simply claimed the game never arrived and got a new one. But so far, I only got the wrong item once, although Play.com seems to sell used games, since they seem to arrived often open, but they look new. I still use Play and TheHut, they are the cheapest ones I can afford, even the cheapest Amazon item is expensive once you add shipping.

Did you notice Luigi becomes a Kistune statue? That practically makes it "my" game! I can understand why everybody thought it was the Tanuki suit, it's a full one suit instead of the coon ears and tails you used to get in three. The fact the game lacks a real manuals where you could read the names of these power ups doesn't help much either! I found out later that you can even get a P-Wing, but to do that you have to die even more! Which I can no longer do in this game. I'd give the levels a chance, but not only do they lack the super leaf, I'm pretty sure none of them have checkpoints! It's just no fun to beat a whole level in one go.
-
The 3D is great, but I just don't feel like playing the special levels... Now that the game is actually challenging they take the super leaf away? I guess this is for the hardcore, I can stand the "10 second" levels.

Yes, we need the opinion of someone who isn't a Dragon's Lair fanboy!

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving, an American holiday, so I can understand why they'd call it Autumn sale to avoid confusion with non-Americans. Many sites had Black Friday deals all week too, so I don't really understand the Black Friday name either, specially when it's not "Black Friday" enough, Black Friday is the day the deals are to die for... literally! 5% off all week isn't that much of a deal compared to 75% off. Although I think I understand the purpose of the Black Friday thread, since it's an American thing, it's more for Americans? I don't think we were supposed to discuss Steam sales, but more stuff like "Walmart has all games 40% off!" The again, I'm pretty sure we've mentioned region specific and physical store deals in this thread too?

I didn't know they sold episodes separately for this one, while it does have episodes, the installer is of the whole series, unlike the other TT games where you get an installer for each episode. Maybe episode one is the demo?

I beat it just now and I must say, I loved nearly every moment of it! I don't care if it's a glorified Dragon's Lair / QTE game, it WORKED for me, I pressed the buttons like a mad man when being chased by whatever dinosaur was near and I felt excited about it! And I don't think it's that linear, true, it seems there is only one path, but I think how your perform has minor effects on the game. A character pointed out how terrible I was in a level where I missed a lot and told me my moves were great in another where I did pretty well. It seems that while missing some button pressed just decrease your score it's only at certain moments where you can die. The skipping the walking and making it practically and interactive movie kept the flow going and the tension high, which makes up for the lack of options in my book. But being a Dragon's Lair fan I can't help but to try the wrong option just to see what happens, the game doesn't really show that much gore, you usually die off camera if it's gruesome. There are a few puzzles that while simple, kinda kill the flow of the game... Did it really have to have a Tower of Hanoi puzzle? I'm so used to them now they are easy, but they are still time consuming. I loved this game so much, I'm actually thinking of getting Heavy Rain, despite everybody saying it's dreadful and if Walking Dead is like this? I won't mind at all!

Yeah, I know, but it's kinda silly to see a game cheaper physical on day one on sites like this. We have a special thread for Black Friday (Fall Sale) here. I bought a ton of indie games (mostly RPGs), and of course the moment I buy them I find out about the Skyrim sale. I'm going to be killing orcs n' goblins till kingdom come!

Blocks That Matter: An Ode To All "Blocky" Game?
Tanukitsune replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
I'd help, but I'm not a completionist, I just beat the game and got all the special blocks, I don't really care about the stars. -
I must admit, it's the most heart wrenching game I've played in ages, if not ever?

Desura says the engine is "RPG Maker XP", and it does feel like an adventure made with RPG Maker, it even has an old style RPG save menu, which is doesn't really need since you can't die, at least, I don't think you can.

Oh, dear.... Skyrim is 33€ at the Hut with the coupon code "10NOV". Why the Hell is this game 50 at Steam? PS: This game registers on Steam! There goes my free time... T_T

To The Moon is a very strange game, it's an adventure games made in RPG Maker. Except it's gameplay is so strange I couldn't call it an adventure. I'll just explain what the game is about. It's an dying old man who wants his wish granted, a certain company can do it... kinda? What they do is enter your memories and change them so your life dream's become true. Which is kinda messed up? The gameplay is all about entering the old man's memories finding an item that will link it to an earlier memory until you reach his childhood, where you can influence them easier. But it's not that easy, you have to find other items to unlock the barrier to the next memory and play a silly minigame. I don't really understand how this works, each "key" is a specific color, but isn't unlocked by touching items of that color OR by touching other items that were important to the old man... I've gotten "keys" by interacting with people the old man probably even didn't talk to. The interesting thing is that it's a virtual memory and people become more static-like when the character doesn't remember them well, which is a nice touch. If it wasn't obvious from the title, the old man wants to go to the Moon, and as you advance in the plot you'll find out more about his past and why he really wants to go to the Moon. The gameplay is almost boring at the beginning, but the story is the main drive of the game. These spoilers ruin the game, don't read them unless you don't want to play or have already: The game is kinda steep at about 10€ for a 4 hour RPG Maker game though.

That's the thing, people just say they refuse to buy a game with DRM, people say it's nigh impossible to remove, but the people who own the games with DRM aren't complaining, but their voices are drowned by all the people who refuse to buy games due to DRM. For every person who says they own the game and they have no issues with it, there are 100 who DIDN'T buy it who are using very colorful language on the previous person.

Damn, I own Alice Madness Returns on PC. So, how do I find out if the game has the "good" SecuROM? The only games I know that have that are on sale are Divinity II: DKS and Arcania: Gothic 4 (despite all the bad news I've heard about it) although the Steam page no longer even mentions DRM for Gothic 4. EDIT: The internet says it's SecuROM 7 for both and that it's horrid, they won't say why though.
-
Seeing how most PC gamers would rather jump into an active volcano than buy a game with SecuROM, I can't help but to have second thoughts before buying this game. Then again, I'm not sure DRM is as terrible as it used to be, as in "this DRM will MURDER your PC because it can" bad. I say that because that's what happened to the last game I bought with DRM, but that was almost 6 years ago.
-
Aw dammit, I somehow knew Divinity II would be on sale... Just how bad is SecuROM? I don't think the 360 version will ever be this cheap.
-
A part of me wants it, the other is dreading it.

I'd say I hope it controls better than most iOS game, but it's a remake of an 8-bit game, which were never known for good controls anyway. This also explains why none of the Dizzy games have appeared on the official C64 and Spectrum emulators on the iOS system (You can play the obivous rip-off though) Let's hope they don't go "Squenix" on us and charge 10€ for the game. I only see stars and cherries on the HUD, did the cherries represent lives in this game or did they make this game easier or something? I guess we'll have to wait to find out?

I just know the backlog monster is going to grow to gargantuan size once this sale and the Xmas sale is over... (I'm kinda praying Skyrim DOESN'T go on sale, the last thing I need know is another 50+ hour RPG) Does it sound stupid to buy a game on PC that you already own on console that's ridiculously cheap (5€ or less), just for the convenience on having easier access to it?
-
So today's deals are: Limbo: Worms Reloaded: ? Kane & Lynch: It might be worth a shot for 4€, but I'm pretty sure we've all picked games we'd rather play that this series. Fear franchise: I only liked the first one, got bored of the second and never tried the third. RAGE: I don't know about this one, what do you guys think? The Witcher franchise: I heard the sequel is kinda unforgiving in a bad way and is very frustrating. Any truth to this? The whole Tom Clancy franchise: I can vouche for Splinter Cell, but I've never played the rest of his games. The Witcher 2 seems tempting, is it really that unforgiving?
-
I think it's the extra games, I'm pretty sure those were part of a previous bundle? Or maybe it was the Steam sale, it's hard to keep track of all the crazy bundle sales.
-
Yeah, but haven't these games been in Humble Bundles before? The only reason to get it is for the tech demos.
