  1. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

I just had to share this one: bCkc5rcSOwo
  2. General Video Game Deals Thread

I already have all but the Desura exclusives, which would cost as much as buying them seperately. PSN now has nearly every Final Fantasy on sale! EDIT: It looks like the Final Fantasy sale is for Europe only, and you can get 1-9 minus 3 which never came out on any Sony system plus the Dissidia games.

The Riddick games are pretty fun when you don't have a gun, I liked the stealth parts the most! People mentioned Singularity recently and said it was like Bioshock and boy were they right! They borrow the health and "mana" system, and the upgrade system is similar, even the ending is kinda similar, but that would be a bit of a strech. I loved it when it was trying to tense and scary, with the ghosts and monsters but it wasn't that much fun once you have to spend several minutes killing Russians... When I got the minigun and used all my upgrades on that, the shooting became a joke! But it was great fun!
  4. Nintendo 3DS

I'd support it just for the awesome name!

Good Lord, Stranger's Wrath was amazing! I'm kinda glad I bought the HD version even though I had the Oddworld collection on Steam, not only does it look gorgeous, but I could swear it controls better too. Any game where you weapon shoots critters to kill or incapacitate enemies is cool in my book!

It's not too bad considering it's a platform game made on an engine that was meant only for adventure games. It's also better designed that I expected, depending on the difficulty level you'll get some blocks to make jumping easier and it even traps some enemies so they won't bother you, it also has a running meter so you can guess how fast you are running to know how far you'll jump. It doesn't control that well though, I get drowning in a certain area because the mouse refused to go up an area he could fit in to, to catch his breath.

Not really much of a sale, but here's the Adventure Game Studio Bake Sale! I know Grundislav makes neat games, but I don't know the others at all, they look good though!
  8. Nintendo 3DS

I guess the Wii would be the best choice to catch up then? It plays GameCube games and has almost every Nintendo game ever on the Virtual Console.
  9. Books, books, books...

I kinda actually like going to that site for the weekly kusoge (bad Japanese game)... I just read the Police Quest part recently, and most of the series for making you do monotonous and boring Police tasks. Heck, he even pointed out the flaws of my favorite Lucasarts game and.. he was pretty reasonable and made good points.

Gunstringer sounds so good! I wish I had room for Kinect. I beat Solatorobo and it's pretty awesome... It's puppies in mechs and sky pirate kittens!

Wait, so you actually played the game twice to do the Stormwind and Imperial Quests? I can't remember that well, but near the end of the games there is a special dungeon with a ridiculously hard boss that is entirely optional.
  12. Books, books, books...

Having heard the radio plays and the audiobooks, I can say they are pretty different, I can't remember how much the plot changes for the HGTTG when it went from radio play to book, but there was quite a few changes. Right now I'm reading Hardcoregaming101's "The Guide to Classic Graphic Adventures" and it's pretty interesting and thorough, I'm learning about games I've never heard of and learning things from games I thought I knew well... What?! It's a book! It counts!

Erkki, did you play the XBLA or the PC version? I played the XBLA version and I heard the PC one is slightly enhanced? Still I could swear it didn't take me 12 hours to beat, and I did almost everything except that special dungeon, which was kinda ridiculously hard.

Can you even 100% Skyrim? I thought some missions were randomly generated and could be done a million times?

Ok.... It looks like I derailed the thread with the Sonic talk, so... I beat The Rockin' Dead, which I'm still not sure if it's so bad it's good or just very campy and cheesy. It's made by the people who made the Lula game, some porn adventure from Germany, which is subtlety told by a cutout in a bar. It also steals assets from Limbo of the Lost, the game that's famous for stealing assets from other games? Oh boy...*rubs hands in excitement* But that's not all, it's IN 3D! And it actually works! If you have 3D glasses that is (the red and blue kind, which you should have, right?). It just layers that pop out, but they actually do it, which is quite surprising. It's just so cheesy! Because of the 3D, there are monsters popping out and jumping around just for the 3D effects, the don't have any effect on the game at all. Zombies are so played out, right? So... let's use skeletons instead! Well, there are a few zombies... a zombie Elvis and a nurse with a chainsaw called Bloody Mary. Since this is a German game, I'm not sure it was translated that well, because the spoken humor tends to fall flat, but the visuals and dadaist absurdity of it all is something I find amusing! Oh, and apparently the original German version has the voice actor from Angeline Jolie for one of the characters... One who gets kidnapped and has only a few lines? The main character has the shortest skirt and Japanese breast physics and she walks super slow just so you can "admire" her walk.. To sum it up, the writing isn't very amusing, but everything else is so absurd and campy, that I think I might have actually enjoyed it? These screenshots sum up the game pretty well!

Well, I haven't played Sonic Colors yet and I should have mentioned I meant the 3D controls, but I could swear Sonic Colors was pretty well received with Sonic fans? And Sonic Generations is pretty good at hiding it's flaws, the controls do weird things some times, but it doesn't happen that often since they streamline the levels in a way the controls won't get confused, but you will lose a life or two because the homing attack screwed up. And Sonic CD is like you just said, a port.

Like I said, it's a great game, but it's sad that it's just "Sonic Remix" and that's pleasing the crowd. Although if you haven't played a single Sonic game in the last few year you might catch some of the jokes.

I just beat Sonic Generations and... I'm kinda disappointed in a way. I'm disappointed that finally the Sonic "fans" claim that Sonic team has finally made a decent game for once and it's literally a "best of", I'm no Sonic expert, but some levels are practically just HD ports of older levels. I'm not kidding! Specially when I'm playing the 3D ones I can remember the sections vividly from the original game. The bosses are just ported from older games too, they just have a final form which is different. Of course, the music is just remixes of older Sonic games too.... I'd hate to say it, but this is kinda lazy. Where are the Pixar quality cut scenes? This is the first modern Sonic game that didn't have one (well, not counting Sonic 4), did they simply not have time to make one? Anyway, I'm rambling, the game is great, but that's because you're playing the greatest levels from older Sonic games, although they just had to include an level from Sonic 2006, which happens to be the most annoying level in the whole game. Sonic controls are well as he's even handled, but the levels are built better. It's a must have for Sonic fans, and the only game they could have made for Sonic's anniversary that would have pleased the crowd, I just hope they don't make another Sonic Generations... at least not until his 30th anniversary? I'll shut up now....

Wait, isn't Dragon Quest harder than the other games you mentioned? Aren't all the DQ games pretty hardcore in general? I beat Rochard, that indie game with a gravity gun, not only that but if you reach the gravity core of that area you can make lower the gravity at will, there are also gravity reversing buttons. I'm surprised the physics never broke a single time in the game! Some of the puzzles where pretty neat, but it's nothing that challenging if you've played physics puzzle platforms before.

Wow! 40 hours seem quite low for a JRPG!

I just beat Corpse Party, an indie adventure horror game from Japan that... is pretty messed up nightmare fuel? In a good way, I guess. I'll just say the game is 100% Corpse and 0% Party and leave it at that, OK? And I'll just go into a corner an curl up into fetal position and weep the nightmares away now, OK?
  22. PS Vita

    You mean the Apple Pippin?
  23. PS Vita

They said 2D would die back in the PSOne era and it's still here. How would a controller work for the iOS games? You'd have to update the compatibility with each game separately, like with that arcade cabinet they made of the iPad.
  24. V The Elder Scrolls

    eD-Z_PfpKC8 Best mod ever?
  25. PS Vita

How would that even work? The games you purchase count for your PSP and PS3, charging for them again would be insane! I know they will charge for the download of UMD games for your PSP so you can play them on the VITA, but that's about it.
