Man, I had completely forgotten about Quantum Theory and Mindjack, but isn't Sega in charge of the Aliens FPS games? I though the last one was at least decent from what I've heard.

I'm not sure why people would expect it to be that bad, because it was made in Japan?

I just beat Binary Domain and I enjoyed a lot more than I expected, the voice command thing was dumb and I didn't like that every time I tried to shoot a robot one of my squad would get in my way, get shot, and lose confidence in me, which doesn't really matter since they become more loyal if you perform well, but I loved every other thing. The robot designs were great and it was pretty cool to see a big robot fall to bits as the battle progress and you can practically see it's insides. It also felt like it did matter who I picked for each mission and how I treated them, even though it's probably that if you chose a different party the end result is probably going to be the same. And the pacing was great, it never got too slow or too annoying. I could tell the game was made by the same team as the Yakuza games, but I can't really say why without spoiling the game.
  4. Why do you think they are claiming to have been making games since the C64 era? So they can claim having a few projects under their belt, so asking for money won't seem so insane? I just noticed something about the C64 thing, the original Maniac Mansion was developed for the C64, which is probably why they claimed to have worked for it. Even if this was all true, what does that prove? Remember when the original people who worked on Dizzy remade for iOS and old school fans hated it and the modern people didn't get it? If the last game they made was for the Amiga, even if was brilliant and non made up, they'd still have to prove they can make games for modern systems. But... damn, now I kinda want Maniac Limbo of the Lost Mansion.
  5. The only art that doesn't look terrible is the Bernard one, which looks traced. Also, I can't find any info on Desperate Studios, all links lead to news about this game, if they did exist, they probably made public domain games. Not to mention I can't even access the main site anymore.
  6. In Cold Blood 2, confirmed? But seriously, this could be awesome!
  7. Even if Hollywood would make a million movies that are exactly the same, once again, do really want to risk the current Hollywood to make a Monkey Island movie? Can we at least pretend 90's Hollywood would make it? That way it would be amusingly bad instead of BAD bad. -Michael Bay's Monkey Island: How appropriate, you explode like a cow! -Dreamwork's Monkey Island: The rubber chicken is alive and voiced by Chris Rock.
  8. It would be impossible to make now that the Pirates of the Caribbean came out, it's what Hollywood would have made the MI games into anyway, I'm afraid. "What do you mean he uses his rapier wit and not his rapier? No, no, no, a bottle of root beet won't do! We need a long drawn fight scene!" Frankly, I don't want my favorite game made into a movie, I'm sure I'll make up some reason to hate it because it will displease me in some way.
  9. The Walking Dead

  10. I've played all the games in the collection and the only one I got close to liking was the Majesty series, which managed to annoy me anyway since the monsters didn't give you a second of time to do anything even on the easiest missions. If it only had the difficulty slider that all the other games I played from the bundle I could have enjoyed it more. Not even CK II made the cut , it's just too much, it's like Defenders of the Crown for experts and ridiculously confusing. Civ has a million options too, but at least Civ is better at telling me what each does. I play on chieftain and I'm still on my training wheels, remember?

I said cheat, not bug. I used something like a Game Genie for PC games, but only for grindy things.
  12. Well, I played a bit of Sword of the Stars II and... I didn't like it. I turned me off the moment I saw the tech tree, nearly everything seemed to exist to make better ships for combat. I want to see the people I'm taking care of for me to care about the game. I think I don't care about "taking over tiles" if I can't improve them in some way more visual? Am I missing something here? At least I know more about what I like in my strategy games: Taking care of something and upgrading it visually.

I'm pretty sure there are US addresses you can just Google to use for this, just use Google Maps in the US and pick a place. I used a friend's though. Also be careful you don't use a state that taxes this kind of stuff.
  14. I did have issue, although they were technical, I had to quit because it kept crashing, but I seemed to enjoy what I played. Settlers 2 is on Gog, so at least I don't have to go looking for it, so I'll give it a try. I spent yesterday playing Civ V Gods & Kings, but I had time to try a bit of Civ IV, I'll probably play the Colonization one first since it seems so interesting.
  15. In case you haven't read it in the deals thread I got a good deal on a Paradox bundle at Amazon. It had CK II and a lot of it's DLC, Majesty 1 & 2, Sword of the Stars 1 & 2 and Victoria II so I'm pretty happy now. I played a Settlers game on the iPhone, I found it stupid because instead of a blacksmith it seemed to have a worker for each metal, or at least metal and gold? But I could give it another chance if doesn't get any sillier.
  16. General Video Game Deals Thread

Oddly enough, most of the games people mentioned to me in the strategy thread are for sale at Amazon.com The link has instruction on how to buy them if you're not American and they all activate on Steam! PS: It's Paradox strategy bundle: Crusader Kings, Majesty, Sword of the Stars, Warlock.... Edit: Amazon.com also has a 2K strategy pack for 20$ with Civ IV, Civ V and the Stronghold bundle.

I agree about the tediousness of battles, I actually used a money cheat to buy everything in hopes of making battles less tedious and it worked, but the game seemed to have a bit of unnecessary parts in it. Sure, the retro part is a bit annoying, but once it did the Star Trek one I groaned, that felt like pandering and stalling for time. I beat Analogue: A Hate Story which is for or sequel to Digital: A Love Story and the hate part is pretty apt, your mission is to recover the logs on an abandoned ship and there is a lot of hate in some of these log and the "moe" AIs that show these logs to you. I was glad the game isn't about seducing these AI and that is completely optional, you can even ignore them completely, although this game does seem to want to appeal to the anime fan, which is weird since the previous game wasn't anime-like at all. The story was pretty good though, even though some walls of text seemed a bit unnecessary, then again it IS about reading logs, so some have to be a bit boring? *shrugs*
  18. The Walking Dead

On a sillier note, since I started taking gardening classes I noticed how good the flora looked, not only do they have detailed trees, the have DIFFERENT looking ones... I'll shut up now. ¬_¬U
  19. Thomas Was Alone

Damn, I was slightly interested before, but now I'm not sure I care anymore about this game.
  20. I care more about reaching my goal than my score, so I don't mind that much, but that takes a huge weight off my shoulders.
  21. If you've read the deals thread, Gods & Kings was on sale at GMG, so I got it. I'm glad to know the time limit doesn't matter in the Total War games, I do like the battle more that the squad based ones, but the time limit just freaked me out and I rushed thing... Ooops? Speaking of oopsies, does the time limit matter in Civ games too? I really hate time limits and they make do stupid thing like go to war when I doing perfectly being peaceful just because the clock was ticking. Mount and Blade is the only Paradox game I remember playing and it does enter that crazy complex category fine, what I've seen of Europa Universalis seemed to pique my interest. I think I just missed the Crusader Kings being on sale, but I did get the King Arthur games on that day. I think I actually got Sin of the Solar Empire mixed up with Sword of the Stars, I don't know the others (I've always been more into fantasy than sci-fi), but I'll write them down. Thanks for the suggestions!

Batman: Arkham City uses GFWL and it didn't bother me at all. The latest Indie Royale bundle is out it's mostly bullet hell fun!
  23. Happy Birthday!

    Happy belated birthdays!
  24. The Walking Dead

I just beat the second episode 2 and I'm happy I replayed the first one and
